SD 19/06 decision was made yesterday!

my son is 20months old, severely sight impaired, nystagmus, high degree of photophobia! GDD, suspected ASD, genetic disorder- oculacuteaneous albinism which makes him high risk for skin cancer due to no pigmentation.

He has been declined AGAIN! I’m heartbroken for him! I feel so defeated!
I first applied for him when he was 6months old, he was declined then too.
my 12yr old was awarded as a baby who has the exact same conditions.

Keep going hun, Do a MR & if you are still declined then you escalate to the DWP tribunal, My daughter kept on getting declined too & in my heart I knew that it wasn’t right & that she was definitely entitled, I pushed & I pushed I gathered as much supporting evidence as I possibly could from the all the people who knew us & I lodged a DWP tribunal which at the first deadline they conceded & awarded HRC & HRM as an indefinite award

I know that’s it emotionally draining especially when you are trying so hard to meet the needs of your child & any other children you have, Don’t feel defeated find that fight in you because your voice is all your beautiful child has

I tried calling today and the woman wouldn't even take my details because it's not been 20 weeks.
I'm not calling again I don't find it helpful at all.

SMO212 · 29/10/2024 12:12

Has anyone got the address to send extra evidence?
SD 21/07 so still got a long time.

Don't ring and say a scan date first 🤣 just say you want to check progress and don't know your scan date xx

I’ve applied for my 7month old and have seen a few claims that have been declined based on the child’s age so I’m starting to lose hope. I have a baby boy who is on home oxygen 24/7 because of a heart defect, NG feeds and a colostomy bag as he has a stoma. SD of 03/07 and with a decision maker

MinW11 · 29/10/2024 12:53

Hi all, my daughter is 14. She has polyarticular juvenile arthritis in 27 joints. Struggles day to day with mobility, stiffness etc and definitely has more care needs of a child her age. She injects herself twice a week with different meds, which takes the whole day to prepare her. Have only seen people being declined for similar issues, wondered if anyone had been successful?
Scan date 3/7

Isntitmenttobeeasier · 29/10/2024 12:55

Scan date 24/6
Rang again today (I can't help myself) said it's with a decision maker but not finalised yet and to wait till 11th (yes I know I should!!) I'm not sure if that means it's sat in the decision makers pile as it's been for the last 18 weeks or that it's actually being looked at. Who knows!
Good luck everyone

Thank you!

he was declined at 6 months old so that one is currently awaiting tribunal!
i reapplied this year and I just can’t believe he was declined again!
I was hoping he’d be awarded then I would’ve cancelled the original tribunal as I don’t think we will win but I’m too stubborn to give in!
he has a twin sister and his care needs are significantly more! Xx

From what I've seen not everyone gets a text even when they've requested one so try not to worry yet.

Scan date 24/6
my son has been under the hospital for over a year with severe migraines to the point, they affect his chest and make him dizzy and he passes out. It also has issues around food and I have to monitor every meal and how much he takes otherwise he will not eat and he will just keep losing weight low levels from birth that don’t seem to be going up and is on medication and severe asthma he’s always ill and never at school when he is at school they send him home. I put in for DLA after a friend told me to even though I was reluctant. I’m now on 18 weeks +1 day and I called today and the woman I spoke to said ring back on the 11th of November when you’re 20 weeks , decision is made we will text and send out letters not very helpful. This is so stressful. Just to sit and wait for a simple yes or no answer

Should also add he is up most night being sick due to how severe his migraines are he’s at every scan possible it’s just a never-ending cycle
