Oh no haha it's most definitely because of this whole process! I'll be needing to go Zimmer frame shopping before long it's been 75 years 😂 well it feels like it anyway haha

@Isntitmenttobeeasier oh good coz I'm too afraid to call up haha can you post what they say please? It confused me when I saw people with July scan dates receiving their decisions, I wonder how they work it.

It’s just so long isn’t it. I have adhd myself so it got to 15 weeks as they suggested which I know isn’t right, but my brain can’t let go of that! I managed to pluck it out without making my left eye completely bald 🤣

Haha I'm the same too, not sure if I have ADHD I have something that's for sure 😂 Oh gosh I use the men's beard dye on mine 😂 it's fab though! I can't afford them to get anymore sparse I think all the years of tweezing has made them stop growing in some places and I have to fill them in with pencil!

Isntitmenttobeeasier · 25/10/2024 20:43

Yes I definitely will! I sit on here most nights looking to see if anyone's updated some dates 🤣

Thank you! Haha me too I've been stalking for a while before I decided to post! I'll be back with my morning cuppa 😂

PhoenixB19 · 26/10/2024 08:35

Originally when I put my change of circumstance form in back in June they told me 13 weeks 😆
But from my experience the year before march 2023 waiting nearly 18wks thought it was a bit of a silly thing for them to say, thought who they kidding 🙄
then when i called at 13 it crept up to 15, then 20 and now people saying 25 and they have said that to me as well UPTO 25. That's a long time for anyone to wait Never mind having ADHD so I couldn't imagine 😂😭 i hope everyone enjoys their weekend and wouldn't be un heard of to get a text over the weekend off a DM as they work weekends too especially when they're over run in a mess like this.
There's 2 types of text i believe as well 🤔
One starts "your child has qualified"
One starts "we've made a decision"
The latter being not so good

this is torture week 19 for us
half term and my son doesn’t like public transport and prefers not leave house so we’re stuck in all week I call the holidays prison time! He can’t even use trampoline because of weather so he’s climbing the walls and me!
so scared I done a bad job on the form I couldn’t focus at all as I didn’t want to do it and have been in denial for 3 years . I’m sure I would have done a better job now I’m really understanding what’s going on,and want to get help for him. I always blamed myself for his problems. Should I ask if I can send a diary of his daily problems or js it too late ?

It's not too late you can ring them up and tell them you're sending in further evidence at any time.

Yes I’ve called a few times and told them more information over the phone.

Even better, I just gather evidence of everyone involved with the child too, take copies and copy your own form you filled out too as I'm so forgetful 🤣 as you may need them for a MR!!
I had a professional help me with my form first time round many years ago, these days I feel like a pro with all the renewals change of circumstance etc.. anyone would think I love to wait 20 weeks a time 😂😂😂

Ooh thank you for that! I didn't know what to expect, a text, letter, phonecall, pigeon! Hope we all hear sooner rather than later, good to hear they work weekends too.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend xx

Yeah she’s just doing more and more random things that I think would support the claim, so I’ve called and told them each time and they’ve added it on. The teacher on parents evening described her as random too and said they are putting a learning plan in place that they can adjust when needed, so I told them they too. Awww bless you. It’s so stressful isn’t it

Tbh a pigeon be quicker than their post 🤣
I got a renewal pack from them this week the 23rd was dated 16th 🙄😂

chach1l0u · 26/10/2024 12:00

Hi all, COC scan date 06/06. Been on MRC for 2 years. I've had no correspondence at all other than renewal forms sent out in the summer as original claim due to end in December. School and HV advised to apply for COC in April as he turned 5 years old - non speaking, GDD and ASD diagnosis, still in nappies. Waiting on results of full blood work and genetic testing, in complex needs SALT working with AAC but he couldn't be less interested in communicating! I haven't been able to work for 3 years as he wakes up in the night for hours on end, verbally stimming and jumping around. He laughs A LOT, which is lovely, but not at 2am in the dark nonstop!
Was initially advised by 2 different agents to ignore the renewal forms as the COC forms would cover the renewal. Then they sent me another pack of renewal forms literally the day after I spoke to someone, so I called back and this time was told that I should complete the renewal forms ASAP.
Last time I phoned (Thursday was 20 weeks from COC scan date) they told me our scan date was 11/09 for the renewal forms and that I would probably hear about COC when the renewal is due. Argh.
So I'm buckling up for another few months of waiting.
Good luck everyone. Hang in there!🤞🏼🧡

Mumaaa · 26/10/2024 12:07

That’s really hard the lack of sleep isn’t it and trying to keep a job is impossible
funny when you said about laughing in the night my son used to in his sleep as well!
I hope you get the right support soon
the scan date doesn’t sound fair should
ne dealt with separate. Could you write a letter and explain it’s got a lot more difficult and can they please look at coc first

Thank you x I said it seems unreasonable, I've been told 20 weeks all along and now 'oh it's up to 25 weeks atm'. She said as 25 takes us almost to December, it might all be dealt with at the same time. I'm assuming the same person has both sets of forms, and it's not separate departments for different types of claim. I almost wish I hadn't bothered with the COC now and just done the update with the renewal but I didn't realise the renewal forms would be automatically sent out 6 months before it was due, iyswim.
And I think laughing is quite a nice stim to have! I prefer him to be laughing at 2am than jumping, running, climbing, bumping, tapping, clicking, whooping etc. My partner sleeps through it, thankfully or neither of us would be fit for work then next day.

dshort1994 · 26/10/2024 14:44

Hi everyone, this might have already been covered in here but just wanted to check. So since sending in my forms in July, my sons sleeping routine has changed and become so much more difficult. He’s since increased his days at nursery and by the time 5 o clock rolls around, he can’t keep his eyes open. He usually falls asleep eating his dinner, he’s already really fussy with food and I struggle to get him to eat much of anything but now it’s even harder as he falls asleep at dinner time. He’s totally out of it and if I try wake him he becomes aggressive and upset. So then he ends up having an early bedtime and he wakes up around 3/4am and won’t go back to sleep. If I only let him sleep for an hour at dinner time then wake him up, he will be awake until midnight. Mainly my question is, can I just call them and tell them about this and will they update the claim I already sent? It’s a new claim and I’m worried that adding more information will disrupt my scan date and they might delay it even longer. I’m not sure how it works, does anybody have any advice? Thanks xx

Mumaaa · 26/10/2024 15:12

People have said they have added extra evidence over the phone and by post so yes you can update it and it wouldn’t affect the waiting time I need to do the same will let you know how I get on@dshort1994

Can somebody please explain the process and the dates I’m working from?
I rang for the forms on 10th July and posted them back first week of August. Is it 20+ weeks from July or am I being too optimistic?

It’ll be counted from when they scanned them into the system. So you should have got a letter once they received them saying ‘we have received the forms on such and such date’ that’s when you count from! But if awarded, they will backdate to when you rang on 10th July x

It's 20+ weeks from when they received them the date will be on the acknowledgement letter they sent to you

Addictedtococacola · 26/10/2024 18:49

Nearly 18 weeks since our form was received by dla.
I called to see if they received our extra evidence and was told taking upto 25 weeks for new claims.

I've now got more evidence to send in so I will give them a call Monday before I send the evidence in.
