Congrats on getting the awards and ty for sharing … hopefully it’s fast likes yours then and I get carers back date pay in my account on Friday or possibly Monday :) … oh I guess that makes some sense …. It should be kinda obvious though as everyone knows DLA take mths …. UC took almost 4 mths there self to do my claim after I had to quit my job. ( was more of a mutual agreement)

You're welcome. Alot of people say it takes upto 4 weeks for the elements to be added to the current period too.
You should get a letter from a decision maker from UC accepting the special circumstances for not notifying them so they can grant the backdated payment. Then could be anywhere upto 8 weeks apparently. Like we haven't done enough waiting lol 🙃

Are you going to MR ....it's like another kick in the bloody teeth isn't it

I will for sure as I feel it's so wrong. I have two friends same age children, one has less needs and issues than my son, and they have both components. I don't envy, but it makes me think that the way they considering who's eligible for what, is nonsense.
If the pension has affected their decision to what he's eligible for, I wish I would never mention that pension on the claim, but I wanted to be honest. But it shouldn't affect to what he's eligible for as he lives here.. he's attending school here, hospitals, etc.

Can anyone explain this priority? Surely we all should be priority? I had no idea about this. We all have reasons why we need this and I think it’s so unfair.

UsefulZombie · 20/06/2024 09:56

Called this morning, was told it was still with DM (as it has been for the best part of a month now). Scan date 21/02. Over 17 weeks now.

People ring up and say, they are struggling financially, they then get put on priority if it is accepted that they are struggling

most of us are struggling.. most of us want to be able to more with/ for our children- we all have reasons why we need this

Mhow · 20/06/2024 09:59

@happyclapper12 But thanks, I thought it would be along those lines x

happyclapper12 · 20/06/2024 10:05

@Mhow

I kind of agree with you, these claims might not even be accepted, but I do have sympathy for people who are genuinely desperate for the money.

Another issue, that people dont like acknowledging, there has been alot of fraudulent claims, one reason why its taking longer and why renewals are getting rejected

Oh god just called and been told it's with a dm now being looked at 🫣 I better make myself busy 😬

Sd 11/4 was made priority a few weeks ago, called Monday for an update and it was first in the queue waiting to be picked up, the call handler left a note asking for it to be looked at asap.

can you remember what date the priority was requested? They told me up to a month for a decision, so I’m going to follow on to see how long yours has taken

Mhow · 20/06/2024 10:14

@happyclapper12 I think peoples perception of being a priority is different, that’s why it’s unfair.
Yep completely agree with you too, it’s very sad what extent people will go to.

Aussielover · 20/06/2024 10:18

@Sarahdestiny are you going to tribunal for smi ? X what evidence did you submit originally hun? X a few mums on here are waiting for the same x

Matilde08 · 20/06/2024 10:21

Does any can tell how long does it take to receive that letter with decision? Decision has been made on 18th of June.

It does sound like they have taken the pension into account.. does he receive the money now why he's young or does he have to wait till he's adult age to access money?.

He's eligible for it till age of 18. That's pretty much some % of pension his dad work for. And it's available to deceased's young children if passing young age. If it's really the reason I need decline it then.

People only get except for priority if the dm looks at it and decides there case is extremely urgent, some cases get refused for priority if it’s not urgent enough, so cases that are on priority is because it really needs to be looked at sooner, not just to jump the wait times.

This! I get some people genuinely need priority but most are struggling and again not on this page but other social media pages people seem to abuse the priority system to not wait the 15 plus weeks.

With my child's behaviours they take food like consistently doent matter if frozen or fresh they'll eat it, my food bills cost around 400 pounds plus a month and I still have to replace things and I can't sustain this anymore, I've had to not pay gas/electricity to buy food, I have a padlock on the door and they break into the kitchen to get to the food it's something they fixate on...not to mention the holes in walls/doors, cut up/ soiled clothes(not just their own but other childrens too), smashed beds, ripped up bedding, and pulled down wardrobes after meltdowns.

I was very hesitant to claim dla as although I know their needs are way more than a child of their age I didn't want someone I didn't know judging, and with only the 3 diagnoses they have and asc refereral and salt referral just being put in i didnt think theyd get it, they may not still but the costs are getting rediclious and I'd like to make them a sensory part of their room where hopefully they'll be able to go and relax and regulate and communication aids as although they're verbal they don't communicate very well at all, has no sense of emotion or empathy or understanding.

Ginda94 · 20/06/2024 10:33

16 week and still not even with a dm 🤦‍♀️

Herecomestheson0106 · 20/06/2024 10:35

Are scan dates for MR on the same timescale as new applications? I have scan date of 28/03 so I think I have some time to go yet.

has anyone had success at MR?

Its a tough one, if people are getting priority because they need financial help to pay for extra help for their children, I do get it.

Thats different to people who wanting priority, because THEY need the money.

We got advised by school to apply for DLA, And to be honest was abit uneasy at first, because financially we luckily in a good position.

Never even knew about DLA, but now know of a few people who have claimed, completely exaggerated, got HRC.

Dont know how, but they have had it taken off them, after DLA talking to the school. They are absolutely raging, but to be honest, I know the child, and has been used to gain financially.

Its one reason why, I am not overly critical of the system. Its very difficult

fluffypooch · 20/06/2024 10:37

@Crazyhouse4 it was first made priority on 2nd may called Monday and it was still first in the queue. When I called Monday the guy put a note on and it must have hurried it along.

I think we are all desperate to get what our children deserve and as for people doing fraudulent claims then they are scum ! I've been put as priority today I didn't ask for it I just simply said how it's all taking its toll and even tho we may not be accepted the financial help would make such a difference as I'm sure it would to every family the whole system itself is unfair I don't know how we or they can judge who needs it and who doesn't at what rate as each needs affects family's differently it may be small to you but major impact on another family and vise versa xx

I just commented further down I think every family is in need some way or another that's why we apply to help ease life for our families ...one family's needs might seem small in comparison to others but doesn't mean u don't need any less help my son has been diagnosed with ADHD and assessment for autism it's took me a long time to admit that he's different and it breaks my heart as I'm sure it does everyone else there is such a fear of judgement isn't there I don't fink any of us can judge anyone's situation and just hope for the best for everyone xx

we must have the same slow slow dm! its a joke

Mhow · 20/06/2024 10:46

Exactly. My son is 8 he has ADHD we were stable enough to handle it and I hadn’t claimed anything until now.
my youngest has ASD and our situation has changed dramatically. My husband 34 had a heart attack and double bypass in January (is a genetic condition) he is self employed our only source of income- he can’t work like he used to. Im not putting priority cuz my children don’t go without (at this very moment) however very soon it may be different. Every child with genuine difficulties takes a lot of time and money for everyone- so when I see people who have been waiting since feb and other people getting it through in April I think it’s ridiculous and very unfair
