hi all thought i let you know because i only found out when joined group on Facebook last month to apply for carers element if you get dla , my oldest son been receiving dla since Jan 2022 also get child element but they never added carers element on so i asked for it backdating till the start of my sons claim as I never heard of it and wasn’t told , got a letter to say they will backdate from start ! And also added it on for my payment next week so definitely worth asking if you don’t already receive it or make sure you ask for it in your journal 😁

Garfield456 · 06/06/2024 08:53

Hoping to see some awards this week, it's been a bit quiet up to now. X

MotherAndDSon · 06/06/2024 08:55

Good luck to all of those who are still waiting for a decision 🫶🏻

Congratulations to all those who got awarded Recently 👏🏻🎊

MotherAndDSon · 06/06/2024 08:58

I thought they'll be done by Feb and started with March Claims 😕

Emma2345 · 06/06/2024 09:09

Good luck to anyone ringing today hopefully they’ll be loads of awards 🤞

Mum2boys24 · 06/06/2024 09:11

Hi, I’ve only just recently come across these threads. I’ve been lurking and see a lot around my scan date. I just wanted to let you know that mine is 13/2 and I called late morning yesterday an the decision of award was made the day before. So hoping that means a lot of you are close. Also I called Friday and a guy told me 20 weeks. I called yesterday to say I’ve got some more evidence to send but as I’m at the 16 week mark I didn’t want to send it if I’m too late. Then a lady looked into it. She was lovely an told me what my son was awarded how much and when payments will be made. I was surprised after the guy on Friday couldn’t wait to get me off the phone. I went through the long call wait way to. So I don’t no if this would help anyone. Good luck everyone for this week. Xx

This is good to know. Great they backdated for you!

Do you know if you get carers if you work? I'm on UC but I work part time and not really sure what I would be entitled to if my claim is successful

mamof3darlings · 06/06/2024 09:23

@Kita86 im still waiting for backdated money been 2 months 😂

KLCA · 06/06/2024 09:31

Good luck to everyone waiting on a decision!

Mumofthecrazygang86 · 06/06/2024 09:57

I just rang them. Scan date 6 of March. 14 weeks today I think. She said waiting to go to case manager. I said how long is that usually. She said it fluctuates at the moment. 15 weeks but to call back at the end of the month if I haven't heard anything as it's take 20 weeks sometimes.

Kita86 · 06/06/2024 10:49

I don’t know really I left work about 4 months ago I’ve not had a message back about backpay yet was yesterday I got letter on journal saying it go from his start date dla ,so don’t know if I get it for all time I was working maybe just these past months will update when I find out , I don’t understand how it works tbh glad I finally found out tho will help a lot 😊

Kita86 · 06/06/2024 10:50

Wow I think I’ll be waiting a while for my youngest backpay of child element I’ve not even had a reply yet for that

Carly1931 · 06/06/2024 10:58

Quick question as I’m clueless to all of this. How does the carers element work? I work 28.75hrs a week. Don’t claim any UC. Am I still entitled? Thanks ☺️

Congrats!

sounds like you spoke to someone really kind
I always speak to someone that just wants me off the phone asap 🙈🤣

Hay1312 · 06/06/2024 11:23

I just phoned to change my bank details. Scan date 13/03. The man told me I should hear by 30th July. That will be the whole 20 weeks! Praying it is before then, the anxiety of the wait is driving me mad. My daughter is currently on a reduced time table as school can't meet her needs, so I have had to temporarily cut my hours at work. Waiting for her EHCP to come through. Praying we get an award 🙏

Kita86 · 06/06/2024 11:24

I just checked my payments on journal and they have added carers element on from June 2022 ! Didn’t think I would get it with working thought it just be these last few months being out of work so glad I asked 😊

Kita86 · 06/06/2024 11:33

What a lovey suprise!! Welldone x

TheSnappyTurtle · 06/06/2024 11:42

@Ljstar there is carers element at £198 and disabled element £487 if your child is awarded HRC. £157 if your child is LRC or MRC. Make the change of circumstance if you get awarded and the rates. Once it’s been added to your statement that means theyve verified with DLA, add a note in your journal request back pay for these elements from your award date. It’s not done automatically like DLA.

hope you get a good outcome ❤️

Quick update
MR for TC/HMRC. Supposed to take 15 days now on Day 27. Tried to call TC 3 times, got cut off by the automated voice at 1hr 20m each time. Not been able
to speak to anyone on the phone. Wrote a letter to TC last week. Currently requesting a freedom of information on how many families have given severely disabled child tax credit after the 1 month notice has passed. Ready for appeal if i need it.

DLA scan date 28/04/2023 Awarded 28/11/2023 Was made to migrate over and currently losing out on over 3k from TC because i informed UC as i had to switch. No information provided that id have to inform a closed claim of coc. Please dont miss out if you migrate from TC to UC before your award is given.

At this point it’s not even about the money anymore. Im 14 months in and been messed around by DLA, UC, DWP, HMRC and TC. It’s the principle! 😴😳😩

Older daughter scan date 20/02 awarded 19/05. Everything went smoothly and I’ll probably be sorted with her claim before my youngest!

Good luck to everyone still waiting ❤️

Shazzle88 · 06/06/2024 11:47

I just called to check my extra evidence has got there and a lovely lady just told me they are currently scanning new claims on still from the 20th may they are really back logged and they goto a case manager at 15 weeks x

Thank you ladies for your positive thoughts 💛💐🫂
Woke up this morning poorly 🫥 no idea if I have catched the same cold my boys has or consequences of anxieties and stress I'm going through as yesterday was breaking point. Anyways, my hubby recommended to put that all 'saga' a bit away for at least one day and do something for myself even if it means to do nothing. Had a little chat with my bestie at school drop this morning, obviously all about DLA saga, and it was enough for me to almost having another panick attack afterwards. So, even talk about it makes me super anxious. And that's not normal 😕

Good luck to everyone 💓 And congrats to everyone who have received good news with backdated payments etc 💐💐💐

Thanks for this info I’ve still not received a letter yet to say they’ve received mine but special delivery says 22/05 that it was delivered so maybe mine hasn’t been scanned on the system yet x
