Hiya, i was just wondering does award times depend on area or are they kind of set for everywhere?
I just ask as on my letter it's states upto 15 weeks for a decision, yet some take less or longer. Im making a new claim for my son, hes nearly 14 and actually diagnosed with depressive disorder, anxiety and tic disorder and currently we are on the waiting list to go to panel for autism diagnosis and possible pda. Hes been diagnosed with the top 3 for going on 3 years now and awaiting panel for 6 months, and is due to start therapy at camhs which i did add to forms.
Ive always been a little hesitant to make a claim for dla as ive never thought hed be awarded but i kind of need to now, hes very destructive broken 2 tvs, puts holes in the wall, rips his clothes up including the other childrens, has lots of missing episodes and has no understanding of emotions and cant express his feelings and is currently waiting for help from speech and language too.
Keeping up with the costs is becoming unmanageable hence the claim, apart from above he also soils himself and just throws the underwear or hides it (camhs thinks its linked to sensory issues) and we have to padlock the front room at night or he will wonder around the estate at all times of night and eats everything in the house from frozen foods to crisps to bread. He sets fires and has a fire alarm in his bedroom installed by the local fire brigade.
He has no ehcp at the moment, im still waiting for the school to sort it but he is in alternative provision within the school so doesnt attend mainstream lessons, but attends whats like a school within the school where he gets 1 to 1 and theres only atound 7 people in the class.
Does anybody think he will actually get awarded anything, im on week 7 currently as scan date was the 2nd april, and will wait the 15 weeks just still unsure whether i actually have grounds for the claim, as i said above ive just always been hesitant.
