Like other's have stated they get frustrated by comments or what they read. I stated a comment grinded on me as i dint want to be labelled as abusing the system. Im very open and will state if something grinds on me. But by no means does that make me a bully 😮. And i explained my reasoning. So thats it over for me.

Kla1913 · 15/05/2024 14:41

Again wasn't talking about you or your situation, like you said yourself some people abuse the priority. That's what I meant, anyway not arguing with anyone on a supportive thread, actually so childish.

Been looking on this post last few weeks and have to say some of you really don’t look out for other people. So what if peoples made priority were all in the same boat just different sanarios. It’s like it’s one big click on here and new people don’t even get replied too

I’ve been here a while and reading comments. And you’re right, it’s not the person claiming that decides they get put on priority it’s the person on the phone. My scan date was 16/2 and I was happy waiting patiently but circumstances changed and the DWP and UC said I need to be put on the priority. I’ve only called twice, once to out more evidence on and didn’t even ask about the wait times they said to me July time, which I would struggle to but would of been fine, spoke to UC and they said I need to call them back and be put on the priority because of the evidence of my son has changed it’s changed my finances majorly. I would have barely survived, probably get into some debt but would have been cleared when I got the back date so I wasn’t stressing too much to them about it but inside I’m terrified. I’m thankful they put me on the priority I wasn’t wanting special treatment but you won’t get out on it unless they think you need to. No one can get it quicker unless they deem it necessarily to

Have you been awarded?

MotherAndDSon · 15/05/2024 14:56

Fee89 · 15/05/2024 14:27

@MotherAndDSon For me i had to give reason why and got told it still depends if d.m deems it priority and if it matches what i say im claiming for. I can only speak for myself though. Im unsure what others would of been asked/told x

@Fee89 hun, I know what you and your child went through because I read your story, that why am saying dla needs to look it through properly.

For your child, you shouldn't have to wait that long and should have been looked at urgent.

Plus you should have gotten higher rates because it is a scary live you both are dealing with.

Good luck with your MR Xx

I have just finished a conversation with the consult She says that the decision should be made by the 15th week
I said that 15 weeks were on Monday 🙃
She said another 1-2 weeks... So nothing new 😢😒

MrsRawl · 15/05/2024 15:58

This is more a question for those still lingering that have been awarded.
ive received my letter today in the post which states their reason for granting dla and based on what. Im actually shocked at mine. My son has anxiety, selective mutism and is awaiting autism assessment, and the reason they have granted middle rate care is because he needs help with toileting throughout the day.
no mention of any other struggles. So does that mean they have literally based his claim on the one fact that he needs help going to the toilet, or am I reading too much in to this. Because he needs help with lots of other stuff and has many sensory needs/issues.
my mum said they probably just pick one point to put on the form instead of individually listing them but I’m like surely not. So if he didn’t need help going to the toilet and changing nappies etc then he wouldn’t be entitled?? That’s how I’ve read it anyway

Hey lovely. This is what pushed me to do the MR now instead of waiting like i had planned to. The reason for rejecting mobility was because she apparently doesnt need supervising when infact she needs to be supervised 24.7 😬. It seems they looked at one thing saw that part makes them awarded then left everything else 😮. I sent copies on her readings showing night time hypos and hypers yet they said she only needs caring for during the day 🤦🏻‍♀️. Im lucky to get 4 hours of broken sleep a night. Do appeal for higher. If he needs help during day for toilet then its obvs he does at night 😬 x

Kittykatmumof4 · 15/05/2024 18:05

Hiya just a quick question
With uc do I need to let them know about low rate care? Also do I need to let uc know of the scan date? So the date dla go by? Tia x

Ok thank you so do I just do a change of circumstances on uc? And put in my scan date? As when I would of been awarded from the scan date?

I’ve read all your posts and would have expected you to get high for both. Wishing you luck for your MR. To be honest I am chuffed with the mrc as I expected a decline or lrc at best. It just seems crazy that out of all his struggles the fact he needs toilet assistance is what’s been focused on. I find that crazy. So if I’d have not put about the toilet help on he’d have been declined then maybe? He’s nearly 6, does use the toilet but I have to take him each time or he forgets and has accidents, however he does still wear pull ups at night and sometimes still wears one for a poo. I spent so many nights going over and over the form because I knew I was missing stuff off and that’s simply because I’m so used to dealing with him, it’s just normal daily life to me now. But I nearly didn’t even add the toileting on, because I said to my mum they’ll say that’s just his age,
madness how this system works it really is

Emjones32 · 15/05/2024 21:57

Hey ladies, does anybody know how long uc take to sort backpack out when it's gone to an advisor x

Kell85 · 16/05/2024 08:09

Dolly2014 · 15/05/2024 14:54

Have you been awarded?

No not as far as I know I’m just waiting to be contacted. They probably have thousands of people calling a day about it and don’t want to bother them

Char3940 · 16/05/2024 08:26

When sending extra evidence how does it work do you just send it to the same address with your child's name on it?
Also my daughter is in senior school and they said they will not write a report for her which is majorly unhelpful.
My scan date is the 6th march and I've only had 1 letter and no texts does anyone know why they seem to text certain people?

JustPeachLurker · 16/05/2024 09:44

Phoned them on Monday & was told again a decision has been made but we can't discuss it over the phone & then exactly the same again yesterday but today after 25 weeks of waiting we have finally been awarded, no paperwork as of yet but we woke up to a nice amount of money in the bank, good luck to all waiting

Offtopic · 16/05/2024 11:34

What’s the address to send information recorded to them please?

Hi, my daughter is 14, same symptoms as your daughter. She is academically bright, masks, so school won’t support an EHCP and I know that.I haven’t asked cause I know. School are supporting my daughter fantastically so not wasting my time just now however, post 16- yes I will and I plan to do it in Y10 for transition to Y12. Starting September. Ask the school for support for Post 16. They will help you. Not sure what year your child is but a key EHCP timeline is Y10 x
Good luck with it all x

Edited

Missed this as I jumped onto the next thread to quickly catch up sorry hun. It’s so frustrating when school can’t see what we see! it’s not just about getting the work done, it’s about how our children feel at school and how are they coping mentally 😔 Thank you for the info I will keep that in mind if I decide not to go through with applying to the council for one myself yet.
Good luck with everything Xx

I just wanted to post how impressed I am!

My daughters claim ended 10/05/2024, I got renewal forms sent to me in January but I was very poorly in and out of hospital so completely forgot about the forms.

I sent the renewal in on 7th May. I received 2 letters in the post yesterday. One to acknowledge receipt of claim form and the other dated 10th May to say my daughter has been awarded until the day before her 17th birthday dec 2026!

Now I'm not sure if her claim got processed so quickly because it was about to expire but to say I am impressed in how quickly they processed the renewal is am understatement.

When we first applied though we waited close to 20 weeks.

@Fee89 Just catching up with posts and see you have a T1 child. My girl was diagnosed at 20 months old-now 5. It is bloody hard, scary, expensive and never 2 days the same. Just from one mum to another-I get it. ❤️

Thank you so much 🩷. One day you think your a pro then next day its like back to square one 😔. I cant imagine what you went through with her being so little and still is little. But it amazes me daily their strength and how clued up little ones can be 💕
