i was awarded dla for my son 3 weeks ago I’m on Uc I applied for disability element and now applied for carers element am I right in thinking this is doesn’t show against your earnings? I work also

Jempeech · 21/03/2024 06:52

My son has had it since he was young and now is on pip but his needs are high and he was in a secure sen school with a class of 2 others and he couldn’t deal with that ! So he was straight forward I had so much paperwork it was easier. With her being a girl and definitely lower level I’m worried , she does need constant supervision and has severe problems with her sensory needs such as clothing etc . The school did fill in saying all the same I guess and she does have an official diagnosis. Just so strange not knowing . Thanks for replying x

Not sure this is the right place to ask, but as DLA is mentioned here a lot, maybe a good place to ask.

As a PA I have been asked to write something as evidence for a DLA increase application. How would such a letter need to be structured? Are there particular keywords or things a decision maker is looking for in an evidence letter?
It concerns unpredictable behaviour, needing 1:1 supervision at all times as cannot predict what will happen in any given situation. For example, will grab other people's food at McDonalds, will walk on a path but you cannot trust not to go on the road.
Is there any format for how such a DLA supporting evidence letter should be written?

I dnt think there is a certain format or structure. Main thing is to be as detailed and honest as possible about what you know about the child from your experience.
this will give the DM a clear idea about the extra care needed. Let it be as raw as it actually is in reality.

I seem to have been awarded as I got a payment into my account today 🙌🙌 didn’t get a text to tell me or anything. I think I’ve got MRC and LRM. scan date 28/11

Those of you that have declared to UC, did you do so as soon as you got the money or did you wait for the letter to arrive?

How does the carers element work? Myself and my husband both work but part time (we fit hours around each other so someone is always home for the children), would we be entitled to it or is this only for people that work less than 16 hours a week?

Thanks

Just got through straight away. 8/12 scan date, they said its not with a decision maker but i should have a decision by the end of April as current claims with decision makers are November dates 🤔 when I called 3 days ago I was told I'd have a decision at the beginning of April 🤣 the long wait continues..

I was told on Tuesday it was with a DM and told this morning that it'll be the middle of April, she counted my weeks to me, which really makes me angry lol I know how many weeks I am, I just can't work out how people with later dates than others get awarded first & this is why we ring in the first place just too quadruple check if we are one of the lucky ones 😂

you're 4 days before me, so according to her, we're only 13 weeks because of the Xmas week 😩🤦‍♀️
