@CornishMama2 feels like we’re all just going round in circles

Hannahkate90 · 20/03/2024 14:08

@sjm100 Thankyou I think it was bit quicker as I pushed and pushed them for a manager due to knowing I had sent evidence with the info it was declined on I had also phoned 2 days before hand to update them aswel to get it there in time turns out the call handler had not put the info on the system and the paper copy of it was uploaded half hour after the decision so they put it as urgent claim it's worth asking for manager if you know the evidence or phone updates were definitely there before they made decisions

sjm100 · 20/03/2024 14:23

@Hannahkate90 Mine was declined for lack of diagnosis, even though a diagnosis is not necessary for a dla claim, I think my call handler realised that the DM was being a plank and put me in for MR straight away, I might ring to find out if they have received the letter I sent in from camhs accepting my daughter.

Hannahkate90 · 20/03/2024 14:54

@sjm100 i honestly would my daughter doesn't have diagnosis for dyspraxia and possible adhd only gone on referal they declined her on not having physio even though senco wrote statement that her foot turns in and she struggles run and walk for long periods and often falls due to unstableness but she hadn't even seen the physio until last Friday I phoned updated them that day that she had hypermobile ankles I just updated over phone she'd been refered to othapeadics n dm yesterday accepted my word i just sent acceptance letters and senco statement I just told manager it was unfair as I had phoned and sent it in and the call handler had not passed info which was there I'd ask for team leader and explain to them try for an urgent as dla isn't based on diagnosis and all evidence was provided to show your child's struggles defo worth a try .

Called on my lunch. Finally with a DM as of today. Might not be tomorrow but we'll see ... praying they don't take long. I've asked for a text but not all DMs can send them. I'll ring Friday next 🤪

Sarahdestiny · 20/03/2024 15:38

@Hannahkate90 congrats and how did you manage to get a decision so quickly I'm on week 5 of MR & being told it won't go to a decision maker until 8 weeks atleast then another 2 weeks for decision hopefully I get a bit of you luck & hear sooner 😀

OsloCyclingCake · 20/03/2024 15:38

Is it advised to call? I’ve had the two letters & text confirming it’s in the system. I’d phoned to get forms 20/11 but typed the form and added the front page was posted recorded 11/12. So I’m hoping to hear soon based on this thread??

I’ve called every day the last 5 days, expecting them to answer and address me by my name when they see my phone number now 😂 scan date 23/11

If will likely be a few weeks yet they won’t have scanned it into the system until a week or two after it was posted

OsloCyclingCake · 20/03/2024 16:00

Thanks I’d got 2nd week in April bookmarked as hopeful to hear but then saw the dates on here so I’ll just wait until April then I’ll chase. Between this and the ongoing EHCP tribunal the level of paperwork is bonkers…plus if they decline I’ll have OT report by then as extra evidence.

HG95 · 20/03/2024 16:03

lots of people are hearing by 16 weeks of the forms being scanned so second week in April sounds about right

That made me laugh 🤣🤣. With a dm today but might not be tomorrow 🤣🤣 x

Two new claims 23/11 & 1/12, one has been with a decision maker since Thursday 7-10 days for a decision, other one got assigned to a case manager today and got told 7-10 day for that one also, I’m thinking case managers make decisions quicker than decision makers 🤷🏻‍♀️

One of mine are 01/12 and I just phoned he said it was in a holding pile so I thanked him and he said “actually it’s with a case manager now” so I don’t even know at this point 😂

Hannahkate90 · 20/03/2024 16:36

@Sarahdestiny hi I think it was because I told them I was making a complaint as I had provided the update over the phone and 2 advisors had looked into it and said it hadn't been passed over, the claim was only declined on that information I had provided 2 days before went to a dm so I told them it was their doing, I asked them aswel if the dm had been passed info over would they of waited to see the paper copy which was uploaded half an hour later and therefore more likely awarded it and the team leader agreed.

Is that the same as a DM? I'm 01/12 also x

Jempeech · 20/03/2024 17:06

Hi can I ask what needs people are applying for ? I’ve applied in February for my daughter who has adhd and autism . I only had the school fill out who knows her bit and sent off her diagnosis letter with all her assessments from cyps . She was lucky and her diagnosis was done very quick so I don’t have loads of evidence. Any advice on this would be helpful x

I think decision makers are who they originally employed and case managers are additional people they have brought in to help decrease the amount of applications they’ve received

How much evidence has everyone sent?

I've seen some people saying that they sent no evidence and got an award and other people saying they sent loads and were turned down.

I sent quite a bit of evidence and since the child has started working with an OT, been referred to speech and language, and will likely be referred to a paediatrician on Friday when we see the GP. I haven’t told them about these updates as I have no evidence e.g. copies of the referrals.

I am already at week 16 so wondering if it’s worth posting off a statement to say this or to save it incase they turn me down.

I only sent an initial paediatrician appointment report and an OT assessment report and was awarded MRC and LRM. I didn't have anyone write in the person who knows them bit nor anything from school. But I also wrote an additional 3,000 words to answer several of the questions.

I think what is most important is how clearly and in how much detail you explain the extra care that is required, backed up by at least one medical/educational professional.

Margot82x · 20/03/2024 17:43

@shaf89 @Emma2345 I’m here!
I’ve had two letters on my journal one for bedroom entitlement (doesn’t effect us anyway due to my eldest daughter’s disabilities she’s a wheelchair user) and the other I think is to backdate the disabled child element, it did say my previous payments will be adjusted with new amounts but nothing since?! Xx

Mine was scanned on the same date they received it.
