@Shaf89 have you had any luck today hun? I still haven’t got award letter yet? Have both of you? @Emma2345 xxx

nannynick · 22/03/2024 13:45

@Shaf89 Thanks.

> Main thing is to be as detailed and honest as possible about what you know about the child from your experience.
this will give the DM a clear idea about the extra care needed. Let it be as raw as it actually is in reality.

I will try to make it as raw as possible. Will try writing something up this evening.

@Leopardprintleelan I just rang up asked and they gave me disability benefit centre 4
Post handling site b
Wolverhampton
Wv99 1bY so might be worth ringing and asking .

Thank you hun, that's the same address as another poster who had called the next day and they were already scan onto the system. Sending this afternoon by recorded next day delivery, same as I did my forms. Probably £40 deep in this claim already!

mummytooneboy1 · 22/03/2024 13:58

Does anyone know will dla be working Easter holiday break?

mummytooneboy1 · 22/03/2024 13:58

LittleMiss2000 · 22/03/2024 13:03

I have contacted DLA. Scan date 13/12/23.
They informed not with a decision maker until week 16 and not sure how long it will take after that. Looks like will have to wait!

Hopefully they won't take too long 🤞🏽

KerBear12 · 22/03/2024 13:59

Week 20 - called again today to chase to be told they were still waiting on child’s reference number which I had been informed is the NI number. Needless to say I launched into orbit having been told my case was allocated Monday and the lady didn’t seem happy I’d been told that.
apparently an email was sent on the 14th March to chase it, she said she would email to chase it and when I asked to talk to a manager after saying I wasn’t happy being told something different each time I call she told me there’s no point as they won’t have any more information then she does?!
WTF, I insisted on a manager calling me back which she said she’d ask because I want the case escalated - at this point I’m 9 months on from my child’s cancer diagnosis what a joke!

anyway for those being told it’s an NI number they’re waiting on that’s absolute rubbish as we called the NI helpline afterwards who spoke with the benefits team - they have cleared their inbox as of today they have not received a request from DLA for her at all (his colleague went through the last 6 weeks) and if they received an email requesting it by 3pm they could process it today!!
called back DLA again who said there’s no way we can be put through to the team who request the NI numbers but we’re down for a callback from the manager.

I will be making a formal complaint and writing to my MP about it, no one should have to call in multiple times to be fobbed off each time and wait months for DLA.

mummytooneboy1 · 22/03/2024 14:02

For the people whose child don't have an NI number did you put your own NI number on the form? I'm scared I'll get into this problem and then have to wait another 4 weeks😫 want the wait to be over!! Xx

I’ve been waiting at least 5 weeks for an NI number apparently which hasn’t even been requested.
apparently even if you’re not entitled to child benefit you can apply and it’ll trigger an NI number for your child, something I wish I’d known as I’d have done that months ago knowing I had to wait 3 months before I could even get apply for DLA

UsernameUnavailable12 · 22/03/2024 14:13

@kristie198 i gave in and phoned they’ve awarded the 23/11 claim but declined the 01/12 claim so have to do a MR, they declined the son with an actual diagnosis who has had previous DLA claims and only has a new claim now because they lost his renewal 😂😂

KerBear12 · 22/03/2024 14:15

kristie198 · 22/03/2024 10:47

I got through and they still haven't received her NI number

They won’t have requested it - NI for under 16s is clear as of today, it’s the DLA team who request it who are clearly dragging their heels emailing NI team in Glasgow the forms to request it!

I’m assuming they did 23/11 took 8 days for a decision and 01/12 took 2 days, the first one I only had IDP’s and referrals but second son has actual diagnosis for asd and all the paperwork detailing everything that’s in place for him

MimiRae · 22/03/2024 15:27

Just had a phone call from the decision maker to ask for proof in writing of my sons referral for autism assessment and extra care needs at school that I don’t have so he said he would call the SEN woman at school to confirm and I’ve just rang the school and she’s already gone home and broke up for Easter so I’m feeling unsure about this now 😩

Can another teacher not just tell them how your child is at school? X

MimiRae · 22/03/2024 15:40

Bloody typical the day and time it finally gets to a dm is just as the SEN teacher has gone home 😩

@TiredTilly update for you too

had a call back from a manager who was a bit off, he stated my case went to DM 05/03 and they’ve been waiting for an NI number so it can go back for indexing to process it, they don’t request NI numbers unless they’re awarding money.
He has escalated it to make sure they apply for her NI number today but it’s now likely it won’t be back until Monday then it’ll be escalated so it can be indexed that we should have a decision/payment by next Wednesday. We’d get the money prior to the letter which is pretty standard.
He mentioned I’d threatened to write to my MP - I said I wouldn’t be quite so frustrated about it all had we have been told the facts rather then different people keep fobbing me off with no real updates!
The system stinks and I will complain as nothing will change if no one says anything x

But surely someone knows your child? What if it was an emergency for say child services? They would have to wouldn't they? That's so unfair x
