@Cookieam they have no type of system its such a long wait and when you have children with additional needs its hard enough let alone waiting a stupid amount of weeks to see if they pass the tick boxes to actually have some extra money to help them more x mentally draining 🙈x

Really? I honestly haven’t got a clue. I’m going to have to have a look into it. I dropped my hours to 17 but are all over the place tbh because of things at home. Im off for a bit now though. I’ll have a look today. Is there a good site to check on?

Entitledto has a benefits calculator which I find helpful

Cookieam · 22/02/2024 10:12

If they were just honest and stop telling people different things .
If she said look don't call till end of march I would be like ok and try to put it out of my mind .
Longest 4 months of my life

Hi everyone
I’ve read a few people saying they got their decision about 3 weeks after receiving their final text (after the two letters)
I was just wandering if any one who’s recently got a decision can confirm this
thanks

Geordiemam33 · 22/02/2024 10:32

Hi so got through to a lovely lady so basically I rang Tuesday 20th feb to be told a decision had been made but hadn’t cleared yet so she couldn’t tell me the outcome and to call back Friday. I couldn’t wait til Friday so called this morning a decision was made on Monday 19th feb not to award my daughter. So the txts are aload of bollocks as received this morning to say still looking at claim. And also I think the lady knew on Tuesday but couldn’t be arsed to tell me anything and talk me through a MR as was nearly 5pm.

Sunflower1808 · 22/02/2024 10:34

@Geordiemam33 oh no so sorry 😪😪 did they say why it wasnt awarded 😪x dont give up xx and thats so mean not to tell you and make you wait when the lady on tue clearly knew 😪x

Geordiemam33 · 22/02/2024 10:37

She said it’s all detailed in letter that are sent out. It’s just shit like I say I’ve been doing these for years now and I honestly believe it’s so much easier to get DLA for a child with mental disabilities than physical. I won’t give up my daughter deserves this poor soul. Xx

Sunflower1808 · 22/02/2024 10:40

@Geordiemam33 ❤️

I was going to ask what type your claim was but didn't want to seem nosy, really sorry you got a decline, but yes I bet she knew when you rang up the other day

Mazzie1 · 22/02/2024 10:42

@Geordiemam33
feel so bad for you, I agree my child has physical disabilities and I was declined
hes had 20 operations to date, they seem to decline physical more
when you get the letter find out the reasons they said no and fight it
they have to meet their targets by declining a certain percentage of applications but I recommend trying again

Gemmaoscar · 22/02/2024 10:46

@Geordiemam33 thats so unfair my heart breaks for you I’m expecting a decline aswell did u send much evidence? Maybe they should come and spend a day with our kids and they will see why we want to get them what they deserve hope ur okay xxx

Geordiemam33 · 22/02/2024 10:46

my daughter has JIA she was diagnosed at 18mnth old awful time she went in remission for 5 years and last summer it came back even worse now aged 15 She can barely walk she’s in agony. She self injects with an immune suppression chemo type drug called methatrexate, takes all sorts of painkillers, stomach tablets. Has steroid injections in major joints such as knees and elbows. Her life’s been flipped upside down: to the point of her mental health is being damaged. So DLA is for children who need more care than a child of the same age. Can’t tell every 15 year old has a life like that. Yet my 7 year old has been receiving for 2 year and a renewal in again for ASD and ADHD and that will sail through. X

I've said this I might send my daughter there for the day and see if they think she deserves the extra help!

Geordiemam33 · 22/02/2024 10:50

I asked the lady on the phone have they actually spoke to her consultants or anyone from the school? She said you can ask this in a MR. I just think it’s bollocks. I had to go to tribunal for her when she was little and they could not believe I was there I was In the room 10 mins and they awarded HRC and HRM and apologised on behalf of DM.

Mazzie1 · 22/02/2024 10:53

@Geordiemam33 I know someone who was rewarded because their child has knock knees but I still able to run around and play football etc
completely unacceptable that your child was declined

Geordiemam33 · 22/02/2024 10:54

@Mazzie1 I know someone who gets high rate for having a child with eczema and it’s not even severe lol so….

Cazza0607 · 22/02/2024 11:01

17 weeks today. Told yesterday still in holding pile to go to DM even though last week was told it was at very top of holding pile. Want to ring everyday but don’t have courage. Wait is driving me crazy. 🤪

XxNatty1xX · 22/02/2024 11:04

Morning 😃 , so my scan date is 8/11 I was 15 weeks yesterday. This morning I received I text saying my claim is still being looked at and not to contact them.
My question is to anyone who has been awarded already how long after a text like that was everything finalised!?? Thanks xx
