As long as you know your rate and when you’ve been awarded from you can notify UC. That’s the only info you need from the letter

Hi Everyone, I’ve decided to do a MR as I’m not happy with the decision, I’ve got the reasons back for just LRC ( I know I should be grateful for an award, I am, but I don’t feel its correct) they say my daughter does not have a diagnosis? So they cannot of seen her diagnosis from Peads! So I shall re send! Also saying she does not need all night care, I sleep with her! How can that be right for a 7 year old child, and 10.30 is now a reasonable time for her with Melatonin, it use to be 1am 2am in morning, if I get up then she will! Can I please ask, do I just send evidence again to the Wolverhampton address? With a letter from myself? Also sending the physio she needs to do at home as well as in hospital appointments. Trying to explain to them even though she is fidgety and can’t keep still, on outings if walking she is in pain and can’t last even an hour and wants to come home again! How long does this all take? Feeling stressed x

Definitely sounds like she deserves more than LRC! I’ve never done a MR but from what I have seen on these threads you have 4 weeks I think to argue it and then I think it’s 8 weeks wait? So shorter than new claim and at least you’ve got some money awarded which will continue while they make a decision and then if they change the award it’ll backdate to the original date so that’s good. Sorry I’ve never done one so not sure if that’s much help!

Emma2345 · 21/02/2024 23:54

@LoudBee hi you can ring for a MR they will tell you where to send additional information excetra but what I will say is they will say just because she sleeps with you and if you get up she will wake up that that doesn’t require HRC ,, you have to express how night time is as well as all the other extra care she requires in the day for example you have to say if she wakes up she will not then go back to sleep once she is awake you can not then give any more melatonin as this is not prescribed to have anymore doses then she requires supervision all night , she can not be left alone or unattended and needs constant supervision excetra during the day she requires X amount of care and supervision because she is violent this is all examples them saying she doesn’t have a diagnoses so can not get HRC or even MRC is Bullshit I don’t have a diagnoses for my now 19 month old son at the time I applied he was only 9months old and I got HRC first time applying for him because I went into so much such detail on medication he requires and all the extra care I have to give him when he wakes up throughout the night he doesn’t go back to sleep and needs to be monitored and requires XYZ medication or prompting and assistance to go back to sleep as he struggles with breathing he can’t lie down flat he lies propped up with pillow so needs to be watching incase he became stuck or suffocated I applied for breathing reasons with no diagnoses what so ever just hospital admissions and medication proof that is all we had I didn’t even get anyone to fill out the someone who knows the child part hope this advice helps with ur Mr fight for what you believe your child should get xx

Thank you for your messages, I’m surprised at how upset I am over the outcome, when I read the reasons, I was like no! I’ve been through this with my eldest son, but he is now on PIP, he started on LRC and then went to HRC and LRM when it was time for renewal, my daughter has ADHD, other things also, she always has constant supervision, I have also lots of accidents from school I’m sending in because they don’t always watch her, she doesn’t eat or drink well, she can’t get dressed herself, and although she has sensory breaks, still no ehcp, I’ve given the school chances, but looks like I will have to do it myself, I did with my son in the end, he got an ehcp straight away, why is school such a battle?

So this is what uc have worked out to owing you for the carers element backdated. You will get another amount if they decide to backdate any disabled child premium too.

No you can update the universal credit without the letter. I updated mine the same day I phoned dla and they told me of my sons claim and rates. Uc will check with dla anyway about the rate you tell them about

GraceS25 · 22/02/2024 11:40
