DLA wait times 2023 Part 10

hi thought i'd start a new thread as the last one is completely full and won't let me post.

Well I've just spoken to a very understanding man on the phone who confirmed that my daughters application is with the decision making team and I should hear within the next 3 weeks which would take us up to 16 weeks.
I told him I would like to make a formal complaint about the inordinately long wait times and he assured me he would make that known and pass it along as soon as we were off the phone.

Anyone on her doing a MR ? I am, I have been told you have to get it in withing 4 weeks for them to look at it again. That's great when they don't send the decline letter for at least 2 weeks after the decision date.
Apparently, they're suppoaed to look at it and give you a decision in 4 weeks. So CAB told me. But lady on phone from DLA said they should look at it again in around a months time. I just wondered with them having such a back log.... is the MR taking longer too ? 🙈

I’m doing one. My child was awarded low rate mobility. I have to wait for the letter first. I don’t know how long it takes once they have the MR.

PicklelilyBobtail · 25/07/2023 18:13

My scan date is also 5th April. Called yesterday and was told it’s should be looked at this week then it’s up to 10 days for them to make a decision. He advised I call back around 8th August 😐

Muva306 · 25/07/2023 18:17

@EB82 just read down further and seen that you got the same text as me today too!! Just saying they’re still looking at it and no need to call. I think they might be sending them to stop people from calling for updates. I’m guessing you were told the same as me in the original letter, 15 weeks wait time.

Hi I get high rate care and low mobility for my son who's undiagnosed. But goes special needs school and has echp. I'm only just waiting on his next appointment to find out results off his autism test in Feb!!!!

It's not about diagnosed it's about the level off care your children need.

And how often daily and during the night. Also helps if you have if you have evidence off the support your child gets.
My son has 1.1 he's 8 been getting dla since he was 5 years. Old.

My daughter is on an iep in school and has been referred to chams, and is on adhd and autism waiting list (2 year waiting list). I got her teacher to fill out the section on the form and have provided referral letters and her iep. I really hope she gets it. She needs a lot of help both day and night, constant prompting to get simple tasks done, sensory overload, meltdowns mtiple times a day. I held off getting her diagnosed as she's our eldest child and it was difficult to establish what is normal behaviour but now compared to her peers it's very obvious now she's that bit older. It's great to see others that have been awarded without the diagnosis as the clinic waiting times are ridiculous I'm thinking of going private hut I know that has issues for school as they don't accept this.

They told me that it's up to 17 weeks now and that if I hadn't heard anything by mid September to contact them. When the initial text came through it said up to 15 weeks so until I came on here I thought I would have heard something

Behavioral problems can't dress wash himself has to be prompted to do everything, he still sleeps in my room with me it's so bad my partner has moved back with his parents 😂😂😂... I call that a bonus 🙈🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️..
he has an iep and echp.. he has global development delay also... but yes along you got the support and evidence that's all you Need.
Best off look to you

Were you able to get him dla before his diagnosis? Sounds so like my daughter... Literally prompting all day long and doing most tasks for her. It's exhausting. I should have reached out to the gp sooner 😩 x

Lianney84 · 25/07/2023 19:59

@cherrymum23 yes still not got diagnosis and he was awarded middle rate and lower rate mobility when he was at mainstream I did coc when he got echp iep and special needs school and it changed from mrc to hrc but Mobility stayed lr. But yes he's waiting on his diagnosis from his autism test he had in Feb this year just wanting on appointment to see his peaditrican also he has adhd test in August.

Muva306 · 25/07/2023 20:13

@EB82 I was initially told 15 weeks too, I’ve only ever called to check they received some evidence I received from a ped appointment that was after I sent the application. I was SALT on Thursday and a blood test next month for genetic testing and to see if he has a dietary intolerance. I saw in this thread, maybe the last that if they go outside of the stated time you can raise a complaint but I’m not really sure how that will work when they are constantly upping their timescales. Realistically, if you are quoted a time frame they should stick to it and as the application come in the longer timeframes should apply to those

EB82 · 25/07/2023 20:31

@Muva306 I had to ring a few times at the beginning to make sure they had received the application as I sent it royal mail tracked which never changed. Luckily they had received it but it still to this day royal mail say they have it. This whole process feels like its been doomed from the start for me 😂 I won't be complaining unless I'm still waiting at Christmas time. I hope you get the result your son deserves 😊

Jojo83j · 25/07/2023 21:59

I rang at 8.59 this morning. Got straight through within a couple of rings. Lovely woman. Told me it hasn’t been looked at but should be with the dm late next week. Scan date was 11/04. But they haven’t received my additional letters with my sons sen plan. But she said if she puts a bite on the system they won’t look h til they received it. So. I have decided to leave it until the decision comes through

Samiieyy · 26/07/2023 07:16

I received a letter Saturday stating it's still up to 15 weeks. My scan date is 25/5 so I know I have a while yet and 15 weeks is 7/9 for me. But I just don't see how they are telling you all up to18 weeks on phone but sent me a letter last week still stating it's up to 15 weeks. The wait time is ridiculous especially for those declined after such a long wait

ASDmum3 · 26/07/2023 07:55

Hey everyone, just thought I'd update you. I received payment today with my scan date being 31/03. Now does anybody know the process of doing a MR. My son got awarded MRC which I'm OK with but no mobility. Hes 9 and has autism which gives him no sense of danger aswel as the constant running off, dyspraxia and hypermobility which affects his mobility too, he falls over alot to the point he has fell in the road a few times. He will approach random dogs and bark at them even if the dog looks like they are going to eat him up. He has a few other needs but that doesn't all need writing down. He has a blue badge and we've just received his letter for his referral to physiotherapy. Do i have to wait for the letter to come or can I ring and ask and send off more evidence?

Jadepac22 · 26/07/2023 08:33

@ASDmum3 think u can call them to do it, did u recieve a text to say you had been awarded before the payment ?

Everlong1234 · 26/07/2023 09:07

Rang this morning, got straight through to be told its 18 weeks 😭 I'm 16 weeks today. She said no update to give me, so I don't think it's even with a DM yet.

Gomshall33 · 26/07/2023 09:10

I rang for forms on 19/4 and had a letter to say received on 25/5 - I’ve had a letter to say they’re still looking but woke up to £1330 today. There seems to be no real system. I’m obviously very happy but confused!

Good luck to all of you waiting.

Simba91 · 26/07/2023 09:18

Hi, can I just ask how long it took with a DM? I called yesterday and they said the DM received it on Saturday the 22nd July.

It can take up to 2 weeks with DM apparently.

ASDmum3 · 26/07/2023 09:30

No text to say they has made a decision only a couple to say they were still looking and not to ring.

Simba91 · 26/07/2023 09:38

3rd April

Muva306 · 26/07/2023 09:38

Oh wow @Gomshall33 that is amazing news! So happy your wait is over!!! And was that a first application with no special circumstances?

Danleigh89 · 26/07/2023 09:39

Simba91 · 26/07/2023 09:38

3rd April

Ok. Fingers crossed u should hear something very soon

Kezj87 · 26/07/2023 09:40

Hi,
just rang this morning and mine is with a DM, the call handler was lovely and explained that I should hear within the week and that she’s updated the claim for me to receive a txt.

3rd April scan date!

fingers crossed it’s a positive decision as my daughter has been failed consistently by services over the years and it’s about time she got the support she deserves.
