DLA wait times 2023 Part 10

hi thought i'd start a new thread as the last one is completely full and won't let me post.

Well I've just spoken to a very understanding man on the phone who confirmed that my daughters application is with the decision making team and I should hear within the next 3 weeks which would take us up to 16 weeks.
I told him I would like to make a formal complaint about the inordinately long wait times and he assured me he would make that known and pass it along as soon as we were off the phone.

@Beccibooxx i think it's an 0800 number, I had a call today from DWP but about PIP and it was 0800.

@Beccibooxx they rang me from 0800 number x

Beccibooxx · 24/07/2023 19:15

Apparently they can ring you off either a private number or 0800 number, I will call in the morning and check if they have any updates 🙈

I'm 5th April. My son got awarded today. I'm beyond lost for words, I was certain I didn't do enough on the application as it was coming off the back of me having covid and having trauma therapy, tbh our application was a mess but I have continously sent evidence and updated the application via phone since. Good luck to everyone this week, fingers crossed for all you

Great news for you. Hope you don't mind me asking, did they send any kind of acknowledgement when you sent further evidence? I've included my phone number in my follow-up letter with it but I honestly can't remember having to put my number on the form.

No, I never received any confirmation of receipt from them, as I posted everything tracked next day delivery I just gave it a week from posted date to call and check the had it and it had been scanned on the system. If its been a while since sending give them a call then you can just check they have a number and the correct one for you.

So I’m week 15 tomorrow. My son is 8. He’s been accepted by cahms after an initial assessment for adhd and autism.
he’s on the send register. I’ve sent them a SENd report that the school printed off. Which turned out to be wrong. So they’ve re done it.
I’ve had a few texts saying they have it but it’s not been looked at.
im debating whether to call again or just not bother. Scan date is 11/04

Kezj87 · 24/07/2023 23:44

My scan date is 3rd April, rang on Friday wasn’t even with a DM. I’ve give up contacting them now. I’ve got the “what will be… will be” frame of mind.
Though I will fight to the bitter end if refused.

JAJ85 · 24/07/2023 23:55

I found out today that I have to appeal because my child was awarded low rate mobility but lacks awareness of danger, runs into the road when triggered and has nearly been ran over on multiple occasions. I drive around the corner to school because I won’t risk it.

How long to they take to assess an appeal?

Danleigh89 · 25/07/2023 08:32

Morning guys, 15 +5 today thinking of ringing them up but will probably get fobbed off again.

Beccibooxx · 25/07/2023 09:20

just to let you know, it was them calling yesterday, I’ve been awarded today, my scan date was the 3/4! So 16 weeks and 1 day! Good luck to you all still waiting

Chloe1233 · 25/07/2023 09:21

I'm 5th April just got of the phone been told its with the decision maker right now so hofully good news soon

Everlong1234 · 25/07/2023 09:25

That's great news!

Danleigh89 · 25/07/2023 09:25

Great news 👏

Everlong1234 · 25/07/2023 09:26

Same scan date as me! I was going to hold off calling until tomorrow. Good luck, hope its good news for you.

Danleigh89 · 25/07/2023 10:11

I'm actually fuming right now. Just called them thinking it might actually be with a decision maker to be told can't really tell you anything other than its taking 17 and a half weeks before even going to a case manager so will be well in ro next month. Are they taking the piss. I don't get it as people roughly same date as me are either with decision maker or had a decision. Yet last week was told I'll hear towards end of month. I feel like ri going up and complaining cause it a piss take

Danleigh89 · 25/07/2023 10:14

Ringing them up not going up I meant to say lol

Ch91 · 25/07/2023 10:19

Have those who have been awarded recieved a back date of disability element on uc? If so has it been backdated from 4 weeks or from the date DLA backdated from? TIA X

Everlong1234 · 25/07/2023 10:25

That's terrible 😔 I rang twice last week and was told two different things. The first person I spoke to was really rude, said they can't tell me time frames, pretty much questioned why I was calling (I was 15 weeks), and said you have to wait like everyone else. I was really disheartened, but I tried 2 days later and got someone much nicer. She said I should be allocated to a CM at 15.5 weeks, she said that would be Monday (yesterday) but that it then has to go to a DM & it could take a week or two for a decision. Seeing other people with the same scan date as me (05/04) is giving me hope that it won't be much longer. I'm not going to call until tomorrow at the earliest, if I get someone rude again it'll send my anxiety even higher than it already is!

mamatothreeandonegrowimg · 25/07/2023 11:16

i'm 16 weeks thursday been told 15 weeks then 15 and half weeks then 16 weeks then i rang today to be told 16 weeks i said it's 16 weeks today and said it isn't with a case maker so i won't get a decision till end of august i said well i want to a manager to call me back she said it will be 48 hours till they call so i'll keep you updated my dates are 6/4/23

Danleigh89 · 25/07/2023 11:25

My scam date is 6th april also. Its a shit system the fact everyone gets told a different thing every time they ring. What gets me is that people with similar dates are getting decisions yet we are told to basically expect few more week I don't get it.

cherrymum23 · 25/07/2023 11:26

I applied 8 weeks ago for my daughter. She has an IEP in school and on the SEN register within school. She is on a 2 year waiting list for both autism and adhd. She is 7. Her behaviours are very extreme and was advised to apply for her in the meantime. Anyone received DLA for their child without an official diagnosis. Losing hope 😥x

Danleigh89 · 25/07/2023 11:27

Fingers crossed we all hear something very soon and the call handlers are talking nonsense 🙄

Lolli0511 · 25/07/2023 11:34

I had officially put in a complaint on Friday and that's when my application was passed straight to a decision maker and awarded the same day, so I would definitely advise to put a complaint in if you have reached the 16th week (Scan date 5th April) Good Luck, I hope you all get the decision you all want very soon because the closer you get to the end the more anxiety it causes 😩

@cherrymum23 My son doesn't have a diagnosis and he only just turned 2 when I submitted my application so I wouldn't stress, it's all based on care needs and not officially diagnoses.

Jt1985 · 25/07/2023 11:40

I’m 30/3 and just called and mine has not been successful 😬😬after all that wait! I’m going to do MR as my daughter not allowed in main stream school from September, she is defiant, aggressive, risky behaviour escapes school etc threatens to throw chairs at staff! She is only 12😬 she is on waiting list for peads as school suggesting adhd and umbrella pathway as the melt downs are crazy! This is just to name a few things. But she not eligible apparently!! Serious I would love them to spend a day with her! Something is clearly not right. An absolute joke!

Jt1985 · 25/07/2023 11:48

My daughter dosent have a diagnosis yet and I was refused, her behaviour is extreme and apparently this is normal! She has been permanently excluded from school and now will be attending a pupil referral unit, she escapes school etc I have to go down the school to calm her down as she goes crazy at least 3 times a week but no this normal
