hi thought i'd start a new thread as the last one is completely full and won't let me post.

Well I've just spoken to a very understanding man on the phone who confirmed that my daughters application is with the decision making team and I should hear within the next 3 weeks which would take us up to 16 weeks.
I told him I would like to make a formal complaint about the inordinately long wait times and he assured me he would make that known and pass it along as soon as we were off the phone.

Yeah!
I'm yet to go to the arnison, I don't drive (yet) and its hard work with buses when I know I'll be coming away with a few bags

Muva306 · 23/08/2023 09:01

Has anyone seen the article in the telegraph about the surge in children who receive disability benefits, quite an interesting read.

EB82 · 23/08/2023 10:17

Gave in and rang this morning for an update. Its with a DM but she couldn't tell me when it went. So still no idea how long the wait will be other than "it shouldn't be long now". The stress is unreal! It's like waiting for a number on the bingo 😂

Welshmun · 23/08/2023 10:25

Rung this morning it went to decision maker yesterday and new evidence had already been scanned on so good luck everyone finger crossed scan date 27/4

Muva306 · 23/08/2023 10:32

This is really positive news!! I’m assuming mine shouldn’t been too much longer as I’m 28/4

Muva306 · 23/08/2023 10:32

Everyone will be eyeballing their phones waiting for texts 😂😂😂

Welshmun · 23/08/2023 12:14

Just read, not surprised that the surge is down to ASD/ADHD when comparing figures to 2002. It was much harder to get a diagnosis and be taken serious back then. Some poor kids were just written off as naughty, strange or shy - Me. I'm on one of them. Thank fuck I'm resilient.
Yes, it's supposed to be based on care needs but without a diagnosis, decision makers were likely to turn down a claim back then.
Us parents are more validated now (believe it or not) and have agencies, social workers, education staff etc actually suggesting we claim. Parents wouldn't think to back then.
They annoyed me with the mention of the increase in the 'benefit bill' though. PIP can be claimed by those working. I work, I'm happy for my taxes to increase to support disabled children. If that's needed. Maybe members of Parliament could consider not taking a pay increase to help out? (lol)
Rant over. But yes interesting read, helps explain long wait times. Maybe, because the DWP have those figures, they should employ more staff.

EB82 · 23/08/2023 14:40

Eeee I've just got my message saying my child qualifies! I'm sooo happy 🥳 fingers crossed everyone else gets a result soon 😊

Muva306 · 23/08/2023 14:48

Muva306 · 23/08/2023 14:49

fingers crossed, I’ll have answers in the next few days 🤞🤞

PLJ44 · 23/08/2023 14:56

@EB82 Congratulations. Fantastic news! ❤️ A message is great! I don't think everyone gets a message from what I've read.... Sometimes it's just the money in the bank first 🤣 I'll take either 😜

Soph194 · 23/08/2023 15:08

Yay I’m happy for you, been following for a little bit haha. What was your scan date agian I think I’m a week after you x
