DLA wait times 2023 Part 10

JimnJoyce · 21/07/2023 10:43

hi thought i'd start a new thread as the last one is completely full and won't let me post.

Well I've just spoken to a very understanding man on the phone who confirmed that my daughters application is with the decision making team and I should hear within the next 3 weeks which would take us up to 16 weeks.
I told him I would like to make a formal complaint about the inordinately long wait times and he assured me he would make that known and pass it along as soon as we were off the phone.

I just got off the phone and the man said the exact same thing to me in the holding que to go to the DM x

Muva306 · 17/08/2023 16:51

Oh you are the best @EB82 well at least that provides a small bit of hope for the wait being over for us all 🤞🤞🤞🤞

EB82 · 17/08/2023 17:02

A little@Muva306 but the fact that some of may are getting decisions and being told the same is not great. Maybe its just the line of the day 😂

Muva306 · 17/08/2023 18:03

I’m guessing the line of the day 😂😂😂

Soph194 · 17/08/2023 20:13

i did query about why is may getting awarded and I’m early may still nothing, he says there MR ones not new claims as there back logged to April, but obviously they say and do very different things 😂

EB82 · 18/08/2023 07:26

@Soph194 I honestly just think they say whatever to get you off the phone. Your only a week after a few of us so we all shouldn't have much longer to go 🤞

Welshmun · 18/08/2023 07:52

I spoke to lady yesterday scan date 27/4 and was told I’m still looking at 2/3 weeks didn’t mention DM or even if it was in a queue not very helpful

Welshmun · 18/08/2023 07:53

and I have extra evidence I need to send off where do I send it to and do I need to phone 1st to state I’m sending extra evidence any help would be greatly appreciated thank you

MonaOrchideous · 18/08/2023 11:04

26/04 - just had text to say they've decided my child qualifies for dla and they will send a letter. It's been such a long wait and I'm so thankful for this thread as it's definitely helped keep my nerves in check! Good luck to everybody else who is waiting and hope you get your decisions soon xxx

EB82 · 18/08/2023 11:09

@Welshmun the person I spoke to last week was exactly like that but yesterday's was very nice....Still don't believe a word but she was lovely 😂 I personally wouldn't send it now I would keep it incase its needed for an MR. Just my opinion others might think differently. If you want to send it it goes to the address you originally sent the form in Wolverhampton with name, dob etc on.

EB82 · 18/08/2023 11:11

@MonaOrchideous that's fab news! Congrats 🥳

ListsWonderfulLists · 18/08/2023 11:50

Does anyone know how long renewals are taking at the moment? I only sent my son's off yesterday as I'd been so busy but his current award is until October. I'm thinking I might have a couple of months without money if it's taken 16 weeks or so.

MonaOrchideous · 18/08/2023 13:14

Who do I need to let know that my child has been awarded? I've done the update on UC and asked for it to be backdated as per the post previously, however not sure if anywhere else needs to know? Would my landlord (HA) or council need to know? She hasn't been awarded higher rate. Sorry it's still kind of baffling to me. I'm on pip and lcwra esa myself so won't get carers element.

Welshmun · 18/08/2023 13:52

@EB82 thank you i think I’m going to send it off as I didn’t really send much evidence off in the 1st place as I didn’t have much but this now states of how my daughter needs are (psychologist report) and we are currently on ASD pathway

Muva306 · 18/08/2023 14:02

Oh fabulous news @MonaOrchideous I’m so glad your wait is over!! And really positive news to see they are as far as 26/4!!! have you call regarding rates?

MonaOrchideous · 18/08/2023 14:14

@Muva306 yes so that I could get the ball rolling for other support for her, she has lower rate mobility and middle rate care which for her autism is spot on.

EB82 · 18/08/2023 14:47

@Welshmun maybe ring them and tell you have it. They may be able to provide you with an email address or just add it on manually for you. If not tell them your sending it to arrive tomorrow and do special delivery.

Muva306 · 18/08/2023 15:03

That’s is brilliant @MonaOrchideous and like another poster said previously, being awarded isn’t about the money nor is it a magic wand being waved and elevating all the struggles the come with parenting our children with additional needs but it’s the recognition that it hard and provided further support for caring for our children

MonaOrchideous · 18/08/2023 15:33

@Muva306 yes absolutely agree, it feels like such a battle that we have to 'fight' for the support our children need! I found it baffling that they need to have a DLA claim active before other certain support can become available to them, even with a diagnosis. Dd loves visiting the farm so now we will be able to visit more often, it's something which is so simple yet makes her beam.

Megan2233 · 18/08/2023 16:09

Hey!
I haven’t commented before, but wanted to let you all know my son has been awarded DLA (renewal) once again, I am so chuffed.

I am just on hold about rates, I don’t really want to wait a whole weekend😥I’m just glad the dreaded wait is over!

His scan date was 01/05.

CoffeeLover90 · 18/08/2023 16:12

@Welshmun I sent my extra evidence in, he got a diagnosis report almost a month after I posted the form (typical)
Sent tracked/signed for and wrote his dob, address etc on the files.
Rang about a week later and they had them. They also told me 17.5 week wait, I'm 30/5 so I won't ring again until week 18 if I've no news.

Congratulations to those with the outcome! What a relief it must be. Anxiety through the roof at the thought of doing an MR! 😂

PLJ44 · 18/08/2023 16:24

My mind is playing tricks on me now with all this waiting. Can't remember what the deadline date was on my form for returning it. Does anyone know/remember how long they allow?
I called on 04/04 and this date was stamped on the form.... I posted it on 11/04 and was scanned on 27/04. Am worried that maybe I missed the cut off date and it won't be backdated. 🙄😬 Many thanks x

Muva306 · 18/08/2023 17:00

I have have a feeling it’s 6 weeks@PLJ44

Fantastic news!

I missed my sons renewal so now it's classed as a new claim, sent it 4 weeks later 🫣 scan date 4/5 x

PLJ44 · 18/08/2023 17:17

@Muva306 thanks. That's reassuring. I'm sure I kept a copy... Somewhere 😉 But that's really good to know.... Even if it's as low as 4 weeks I was in time 👌
