hi thought i'd start a new thread as the last one is completely full and won't let me post.

Well I've just spoken to a very understanding man on the phone who confirmed that my daughters application is with the decision making team and I should hear within the next 3 weeks which would take us up to 16 weeks.
I told him I would like to make a formal complaint about the inordinately long wait times and he assured me he would make that known and pass it along as soon as we were off the phone.

fingers crossed!! I’ve entered my 16th week this week. Hopefully it’s not too much of a battle with UC….. are you going down the carers element opposed to carers allowance?

Lovely17 · 14/08/2023 14:46

@candywoo I’ve had letter today saying we’ve not made a decision yet … my scan date was 20/06 … we aren’t even close yet haha x

Ch91 · 14/08/2023 14:47

@JimnJoyce be prepared for the battle 🤣

JimnJoyce · 14/08/2023 14:48

@Muva306 yes carers element as I work

Muva306 · 14/08/2023 14:54

Oh is that the difference between the 2? I thought they were the same thing but different names 😂😂

PicklelilyBobtail · 14/08/2023 15:36

Can someone explain cos I’m getting a bit confused, are there 3 elements with UC, disability element, carers element and carers allowance, or are 2 of those the same thing?

JimnJoyce · 14/08/2023 15:53

if you receive carers allowance it gets deducted from your UC, if you get UC.
Carers element is an add on to your UC claim.

Just called the DLA helpline and spoke to a lovely lady who told us we had been awarded HRC and LRM for my daughter. We have a scan date of 20/04, so about 16 and a half weeks. The lady stated the decision had literally just been made minutes earlier. We are receiving a back payment of £2750 this week. Genuinely in shock, knowing what a lottery the claim system seems to be. Also a feeling of vindication that my little girls struggles have been recognised and knowing that the extra money can be put towards helping her in so many ways. I honestly hope each of you in this thread has that same vindication because for me it’s not about the money but rather the feeling that people believe you and recognise the day to to struggles families go through. I also appreciate these threads, I might not be a regular contributor. But they have offered clarity and helped knowing we weren’t the only ones. Thank you all.

That's great news @Macca1981 I'm pleased you got the outcome you wanted. Finger nail biting time here (scan date 27th) 😬

JimnJoyce · 14/08/2023 18:34

@Ch91 the battle has started

@JimnJoyce they are a nuisance honestly it's such hard work battling with them because they only pick a message up on your journal as and when they can be arsed and there's nobody to contact on the phone. I hope its easier for you than me. Congratulations on your award BTW 👏 ✨️

JimnJoyce · 14/08/2023 18:44

@Ch91 thanks I was a bit surprised they came back with we need a reason why you didn't report this to us earlier!
I mean how could I?
From calling for the form to apply to being told today DD had been awarded its been 26 weeks we've been waiting and that seems to be the norm.
I'd have assumed as they are also DWP they'd know this. But maybe not.
Anyway i've responded with all my dates from applying, the 2 letters I received and the 2 text messages!

Fantastic news @Macca1981 i am so glad your wait is over!!

Muva306 · 14/08/2023 19:01

What a silly question @JimnJoyce they should be more than aware of the timescales dwp are putting out for DLA!! It’s like they are slowing down the process by asking pointless questions!!

JayyEmmBee · 14/08/2023 20:18

Anyone done an MR for HRM at renewal?

lauryloo · 14/08/2023 20:22

Only on week 6 here and it feels like forever.

We are in NI and got told that it's about 10-12 weeks wait time when I called to check they had all the extra evidence I've been sending over this past few weeks

CoffeeLover90 · 14/08/2023 20:36

@JimnJoyce and anyone for informing UC.
Standard they have to ask reason for delay. Formality really. They have to amend previous statements for the period, which can be arsey so they drag their feet

PicklelilyBobtail · 14/08/2023 23:40

So when I reported a change on uc would that take into consideration the disability element and the carers element or do I need to complete the caring for someone section? Sorry I find it all really confusing, I don’t qualify for carers allowance as I earn too much, my son was awarded mrc and lrm. I care for him solely. Thanks in advance!!

Ilovemybabies1994 · 15/08/2023 01:23

Dla application received 6th June.. I have received one letter apologising for the wait and one text yesterday to say they are still looking at the claim. I’m hoping fingers crossed for everyone! 🤞🏼🤞🏼

CoffeeLover90 · 15/08/2023 09:31

@PicklelilyBobtail Yes report both separately and leave a note for each. I won't get CA either but I'd get carers element if he's awarded middle.
30/05 I'm a long way off 😂
I've stopped following the fb group. Posters awarded with May scan dates put me on edge.
It's not that we're waiting for the money, it's the thought of doing MR, tribunals... I just don't think I can.

Kels2023 · 15/08/2023 12:27

Scan date 27/4 .... just phoned up and still not with DM...lady said not before end of August at earliest will hear

Muva306 · 15/08/2023 12:46

@Kels2023 your scan date as @EB82 and a day before mine

Kels2023 · 15/08/2023 13:10

Hopefully we will hear soon...fingers crossed
