DLA wait times 2023 Part 10

JimnJoyce · 21/07/2023 10:43

hi thought i'd start a new thread as the last one is completely full and won't let me post.

Well I've just spoken to a very understanding man on the phone who confirmed that my daughters application is with the decision making team and I should hear within the next 3 weeks which would take us up to 16 weeks.
I told him I would like to make a formal complaint about the inordinately long wait times and he assured me he would make that known and pass it along as soon as we were off the phone.

Scan date 27th April, phoned today as 15 weeks to check they received extra evidence. Told my daughter has been awarded MRC LRM payment due In account on Tuesday. Good luck everyone

JimnJoyce · 11/08/2023 17:51

@Joanne2016 wow my scan date is 20 April and I was told end of next week it would go to a DM

There seems to be no reasoning behind the scan dates. I wasn’t expecting them to even say it was with the DM so completely shocked! I know some people with May dates being awarded it must depend on the DM and how fast they work through their pile of forms.

Muva306 · 11/08/2023 18:42

Oh wow that is amazing new @Joanne2016 I’m 15 weeks today but wasn’t going to call
until I had reached 17 weeks as I’ve seen so many posters say they had been told 17/17.5 weeks

@EB82 your date has started to be approved

EB82 · 11/08/2023 18:50

Aww wow that's fab news @Joanne2016! thanks @Muva306. Fingers crossed for us all in the next week or 2 to get some news 😊

PLJ44 · 11/08/2023 23:47

Wow... @Joanne2016 That is good news. I'm 27th too and was told yesterday mine isn't even with a dm yet. Expect 17 to 17.5 weeks I was told 😯
Really pleased for you but it's soooo frustrating that it doesn't seem to work in a linear way 😢

Girlmum2109 · 12/08/2023 07:02

Still no news for us… scan date 13th April. When I called on Monday I was told it was with a DM.
Fortunately, we will not need to ‘rely’ on this money and it makes no other effect on us as we aren’t eligible for anything else due to household income, but I’m so worried that my little one won’t get what she deserves.

barbie3 · 12/08/2023 09:28

Got a text Thursday to say we were awarded (but no money yet so no idea what we've been awarded). Claim was received on 5/4.

Muva306 · 12/08/2023 10:31

Oh fantastic news @barbie3 i supposed the call line is closed over the weekend so you can’t even call and ask the rate

CoffeeLover90 · 12/08/2023 10:37

@barbie3 Good news.
Wouldn't you think they'd tell you the rate child is awarded, dates etc to save people calling to find out.
They don't seem to work with any logic.
The letter for a start, very easy to change the timescale on them. Again stops people calling at 15 weeks, wondering what's going on. If I hadn't found this thread I'd have no idea of the real timescale.

Mandymoo2425 · 12/08/2023 10:45

My sons scan date was the 19th April still no closer to knowing if he has been rewarded yet, fingers cross for everyone waiting x

Mandymoo2425 · 12/08/2023 10:50

I know yeah fingers crossed for everyone x

Mandymoo2425 · 12/08/2023 10:52

It is a very long wait, I’m not going to call again as they keep adding more weeks on to wait, I was told could be another couple of weeks even tho it was with me lol x

Muva306 · 12/08/2023 11:02

Agree @CoffeeLover90 they don’t make things easier for themselves, if anything they
make more work for themselves. they send enough texts telling us they are looking into claims, why not included that the timescales have extended. No wonder why people call dead on 15 week’s complaining

cherrymum23 · 12/08/2023 14:11

My daughter was awarded mrc with no mobility but out and about she has no road safety awareness, refuses to walk during her multiple meltdowns collects things like stones, shiny objects etc, has done this multiple times on roads when crossing and she needs carried a lot, restrained, she runs across car parks, doesn't look before crossing a road, doesn't like loud noises and covers her ears.... She is 7 and on the waiting list for adhd and asd. Is it worth doing a MR for low mobility? How do I prove she should qualify for low rate. A blue badge would be very helpful and would reassure me as I constantly worry about her safety. Thanks

Muva306 · 12/08/2023 14:29

I would assume so, my understand or MR (don’t quote me on it 😂 as I’m new to the dla process but have done a MR with CSA) is for you to ask them to reconsider if you think their outcome is incorrect. Does LRM make you eligible for a blue badge?

Muva306 · 12/08/2023 14:30

Out of curiosity @cherrymum23 what was your scan date and when were you awarded?

MonaOrchideous · 12/08/2023 14:33

@Muva306 yes if they for example didn't award any DLA or a lower amount, and you know your child is eligible for DLA or a higher amount you ask them to do a MR. They will get someone new to look at all the info on the claim again, and any other info you want to give them and decide again. If you don't agree with the MR decision it would go to tribunal.
I only have experience of PIP re blue badges, but for PIP you need to have the enhanced rate of mobility in order to be eligible, not sure if you'd need the higher amount of DLA mobility to be eligible.

CoffeeLover90 · 12/08/2023 19:59

@cherrymum23 Checked online and blue badge is for those with high rate mobility on DLA unfortunately. Your daughters situation is exactly why I strongly believe there should be as many parent and child spaces as disabled and consequences for those who park in them when not needed. I'm carrying DS4 across car parks, I've got sciatica myself just to find a single person hop in the car and pull out a parent and child bay. Infuriating.

Moanthensmum · 13/08/2023 09:32

I'm still waiting for our child disability form, applied in January this year???

Money matters were chasing this up for me but I think I'm going to phone again.

Muva306 · 13/08/2023 11:16

@Moanthensmum did you call amd request a form and they haven’t sent it out or they sent it out, you filled it and returned it and they haven’t giving you a decision?

Soph194 · 13/08/2023 12:48

Oh wow I would deffo phone up as people being awarded in April lol, was it a new claim you made? By the sounds of it they must of never received your claim??

JimnJoyce · 13/08/2023 14:43

somebody on the FB site with a scan date of 1 June for a new claim woke up to the award in her bank account last Thursday!

One 24/04 has a pending payment another 22/05 received payment 11/08 - I'm 30/05 - anxiety through the roof, thinking if he's not awarded, I'll have MR to do it'll just be yet another thing for me to fight, another thing on the to do list...

JimnJoyce · 13/08/2023 16:01
