DLA wait times 2023 Part 10

hi thought i'd start a new thread as the last one is completely full and won't let me post.

Well I've just spoken to a very understanding man on the phone who confirmed that my daughters application is with the decision making team and I should hear within the next 3 weeks which would take us up to 16 weeks.
I told him I would like to make a formal complaint about the inordinately long wait times and he assured me he would make that known and pass it along as soon as we were off the phone.

I’ve checked my bank and there’s a payment pending for tomorrow. Not sure which rate but I think it’s mrc and lrm. Can breathe now x

Muva306 · 02/08/2023 10:25

Danleigh89 · 02/08/2023 14:40

Mines been with a case manager since monday. So anxious how long does it stay with them for anyone know.

Joanne2016 · 03/08/2023 10:15

Called this morning they are now saying 18-20 weeks I have asked for a call from a manager as they keep changing the dates

Muva306 · 03/08/2023 10:38

What’s your scan date @Joanne2016

Joanne2016 · 03/08/2023 11:03

27/04 but someone I know who’s dated 24/04 has been awarded and had first payment they say they do it fairly but I’m starting to doubt that now

Jadepac22 · 03/08/2023 11:25

Does anyone who’s already been awarded know how long roughly it takes universal credit verify and update ur claim? (Adding in the disabled child element part).

JimnJoyce · 03/08/2023 11:35

Also called them today scan date 20 April and asked to complain to a manager. Was told somebody will call me back.

Oh yours a day before mine, fingers crossed we we hear something before the end of the month @Joanne2016

Muva306 · 03/08/2023 11:50

Ohhhh keep us updated @JimnJoyce i
was feeling positive earlier in the week that some 11/4 had started being awarded

JimnJoyce · 03/08/2023 11:53

well the manager just called me, sounded really anxious and nervous. Explained the many many reasons why claims are taking so long and that was it. I told him I wanted my complaint to be made formal and he assured me it was.
He said my DD's claim would be looked at in 2 weeks time.

Hi all, sorry to just jump on but very confused with the whole process.
I applied for DLA for dd2, I was told to when she was formally diagnosed with autism. I rang for the form to be sent and returned it in time with all her assessments, notes from school, everything I could find and sent it special delivery.
DLA have the request date as 31/03/2023, they said they’d treat the claim as made if it was returned by 12/05/23 and it was delivered (confirmed) on 26/04/23.
I’ve had the standard letter to say they’re dealing with the claim, another to say it will take 15 weeks, and then a couple of texts to say they’re still looking at it and there is no need to contact them.

I’m getting quite anxious now; it took 2 years to get dd2 diagnosed with Covid ongoing, and a lot of the support she could get is dependant on her receiving DLA.
Is it worth the phone call or am I just going to be shunned? Sorry I am so new to all of this I have no idea what’s best.

waiting Nearly 2 weeks they’ve managed to do my care element part but the disabled child part they just said “wait to be verified can’t give a time due to it being a national team who verify it? But don’t understand how the caters part can be accepted already without the disabled child part?

Ch91 · 03/08/2023 14:08

@Jadepac22 mine took about 5 days to be verified but it's gone to a decision maker to see if it can he backdated. It was sent to the DM 25th, told me the same can't give a time scale. I'm pulling my hair out over it because there is nobody to contact regarding it.

Muva306 · 03/08/2023 14:16

@Jadepac22 what’s is the diff between the disabled child and carers element?

Muva306 · 03/08/2023 14:16

@Jadepac22 what’s is the diff between the disabled child and carers element?

child element is for your child that gets dla and the carer element is for if your entitled to caters allowance but it doesn’t replace carers allowance x

Cshan · 03/08/2023 14:21

You can't claim carers allowance and have the carers element

If you claim carers allowance it will be deducted from your universal credits if you claim it

If you don't claim carers allowance that's when the universal credit will give you the carers element

Muva306 · 03/08/2023 14:27

Oh I see, I didn’t realise there was the child element too. I just thought it was carers allowance that people contacted UC for

You contact the carers allowance it's self for the carers allowance not the universal credit

Universal credit, carers element is only for people on universal credit

But people in universal credit can either claim the carers element or the carers allowance not both though

Jadepac22 · 03/08/2023 14:33

Oh from what I was aware and was told by my case worker was you can get both

DLA wait times 2023 Part 10
Cshan · 03/08/2023 14:41

That's what I thought you can get both at first

When you claim carers allowance it gets deducted from your universal credit payment

Now that my ds1 DLA has stopped so has my carers allowance but now I’m receiving the top up from the deduction , if you get what I mean

I like to claim it off carers allowance as it will come into my bank either weekly or monthly which is an extra help

When you claim universal credit it’s payed monthly or every two weeks if you are struggling
