DLA wait times 2023 Part 10

JimnJoyce · 21/07/2023 10:43

hi thought i'd start a new thread as the last one is completely full and won't let me post.

Well I've just spoken to a very understanding man on the phone who confirmed that my daughters application is with the decision making team and I should hear within the next 3 weeks which would take us up to 16 weeks.
I told him I would like to make a formal complaint about the inordinately long wait times and he assured me he would make that known and pass it along as soon as we were off the phone.

Also if anyone is self employed, being entitled to carers allowance means your minimum floor income will be removed

EB82 · 01/08/2023 12:38

@Muva306 that's good to know! I'm hoping to reduce the hours I work. My son has just finished his 1st year in secondary school and I have to say it has been an absolute nightmare! I have seen people say about moving their kids to specialist schools but il be honest I don't have the 1st clue of where to start that process. Since his diagnosis of asd we haven't had any support from anyone so pretty much muddling along. Any ideas here would be really appreciated!

Muva306 · 01/08/2023 13:29

@EB82 my son has just turned 5 so I had my call with the JC this morning who advised me that my minimum floor income will now be over £1000 which means they will assume I’m earning over £1000 regardless if I earn only £300 from being self employed. When I questioned if he son was to be awarded DLA and then the rate for me to claim carers allowance would it still be in place or lowered and she said no, you would be assumed as a full
time carer and therefore no minimum floor income. That will be a massive relief for me if he is awarded

EB82 · 01/08/2023 13:35

@Muva306 yes my income floor is a little higher as my youngest is 6. It will make a huge difference. Fingers crossed we won't have much longer to wait 🤞

Muva306 · 01/08/2023 14:32

The minimum floor income can be crazy!! Especially as I’m self employed as I wouldn’t be able to manage a normal full time job with my youngest. I worked a normal job from the age my eldest son was 9months right until I was furloughed and then made redundant due to Covid. Fingers crossed the wait isn’t too long for us!! You’re the start of April aren’t you?

Kezj87 · 01/08/2023 15:27

got to the bottom of the issue of no payment today!

manager had to confirm the new employee award decision.

HRC and LRM for two years for my daughter.

im so pleased for her and glad the weight is over.

good luck to everyone else, hope you get the decision your children need 🙏

Kezj87 · 01/08/2023 15:27

Wait not weight 😅

Louize87 · 01/08/2023 15:49

Anyone with scan date 5/4 still waiting for a decision? Really anxious to call them

Bretty66 · 01/08/2023 15:52

Scan date 11th April
Awarded today mrc and lrm from 2nd April

AllGoodThingsWillCome · 01/08/2023 16:12

@Bretty66 congratulations, did you call up or anything or did you just receive your award text? Thank you

Muva306 · 01/08/2023 16:15

Oh well done, brilliant news @Bretty66 and @Kezj87 so glad yous wait is finally over! Also it’s good to hear that they are slowing moving further into April!!

PicklelilyBobtail · 01/08/2023 16:35

@Louize87 my scan date was 5/4, I called yesterday and have been awarded mrc and lrm for my son. No text, letter on the way. But she told me what I was getting and that the funds should be in my account this week. I’d call them, I was anxious too.

Bretty66 · 01/08/2023 16:38

AllGoodThingsWillCome · 01/08/2023 16:12

@Bretty66 congratulations, did you call up or anything or did you just receive your award text? Thank you

I received a text this afternoon

Pb12three · 01/08/2023 16:42

Scan date: 11/04

Awarded MRC today, no mobility as my son is only 20 months old. Had to call up no text.

Muva306 · 01/08/2023 16:59

Oh wicked news @Pb12three what a relief for you!! It’s really positive to hear things are moving into April, plus there will be 2 days unaccounted for in scan dates due to the Easter bank holiday

Lo89 · 01/08/2023 17:37

Congrats to all those awarded 🥳❤️

So confused finally received my rejection letter but what they have put on there is different to what I was told over the phone the reasons seemed more specific over the phone but the letter states about personal care, bodily functions and not having difficulty with walking so confused now lol.

Well let's see how the MR goes I've already sent it off now 🤷🏻‍♀️

EB82 · 01/08/2023 18:37

@Muva306 mine was 27th April the day before yours 🤞 not long to go

Jojo83j · 01/08/2023 18:46

My scan date was 11/04. I’ve not heard. Yet I was on hold for 50 minutes earlier and I knocked my phone on the door handle and it hung up. It was after 5 so couldn’t even call back 😣

Anyone with scan date 5/4 still waiting for a decision? Really anxious to call them

Hi I’m 6th April mine is with a case manager still has been since yesterday morning I’m so nervous. A lot of people with same scan date as you have been awarded and not notified only found out when they ring try give them a call x

CoffeeLover90 · 01/08/2023 19:51

Samiieyy · 01/08/2023 11:48

My scan date is 25/5 I just had a text saying they are still looking at it

30/05 I had a letter last week to say it takes up to 15 weeks so I didn't need to chase it. Rang couple days later to check they had evidence I'd sent, was told 17.5 weeks. So why not do the most simple thing and change the letters?

Moanthensmum · 01/08/2023 20:16

I've been waiting for ours since Christmas. For our DC I mean. I filled in the form the week before Christmas 2022 and submitted it on 29th December.

Money matters helped us fill it in, they've submitted a complaint now but still haven't heard anything yet.

I had a letter last Saturday so just over a week ago saying up to 15 weeks and that text today at 15 weeks I will be submitting a complaint because how can they still be sending out letters saying 15 weeks but telling people on phone it's now up to 18 weeks it's not right its not hard to update letters before printing and sending them out

mooneigh · 01/08/2023 21:56

@Lo89 Mine was the same. I phoned up today to ask what was the actual reasons question by question they declined, so I knew how to defend my answers.
The chap said it's what's in the letter and just explain how the child needs extra care and any evidence to support your answers.

I said it's so unfair when you hear some getting awarded with no evidence or diagnosis and he said: yes it's unfair and It all depends on evidence and how you come across with everything and most importantly who the DM is.

Klw88 · 02/08/2023 05:41

Woke up to payment today (no text received), seems to be MRC and LRM which is what I was hoping for. We were 4/4 scan date so 17 weeks yesterday.

So thankful that wait is over and I wish all the luck to those waiting.

Muva306 · 02/08/2023 09:30

Oh massive congratulations @Klw88 must feel like the weight off your shoulders has been lifted!!
