DLA wait times 2023 Part 10

hi thought i'd start a new thread as the last one is completely full and won't let me post.

Well I've just spoken to a very understanding man on the phone who confirmed that my daughters application is with the decision making team and I should hear within the next 3 weeks which would take us up to 16 weeks.
I told him I would like to make a formal complaint about the inordinately long wait times and he assured me he would make that known and pass it along as soon as we were off the phone.

@Jt1985 Thank you. That's a good point, I will do that.

Lianney84 · 31/07/2023 21:19

@PLJ44 hi my scan date was the 5th April mine was backdated from 10th March

Jt1985 · 31/07/2023 21:38

@mooneigh i wouldn’t be surprised if we had the same decision maker 🤣😫as they also said my daughter has no support in school!! Even though I sent a risk assessment and all the support she had which was maxuim for a mainstream and stil not working hence she has now been excluded and manage moved to a special school! But hey how they make there decisions are beyond me!!

mooneigh · 31/07/2023 21:48

@Jt1985 I think we probably did. It's beyond me, I don't understand it. Hopefully we get a better outcome. 🙏

When you have new evidence to send who do you send it too I'm guessing I need put a cover letter explaining it's new evidence then is there some sort of reference number I need to put on it from my daughters claim to match it with other stuff I sent in with original form

Ch91 · 31/07/2023 23:50

@Jadepac22 how long have you been waiting for the uc side of things? Thank you

Muva306 · 31/07/2023 23:52

@Samiieyy i used the ref number off the confirmation letter and wrote it on the top of each page and included a covering letter just explaining what I was sending and listed all of the the documents. I sent to the Wolverhampton postal address

Its a privilege for a child to have a diagnosis. My daughter was 3.5 when we applied, this is 3.5 years before she's eligible for a diagnostic assessment. Her disability is hereditary and I submitted proof that I have it, plus her teacher was able to explain that although she hardly knew my daughter her disability needs were obvious. It wouldn't be fair for her to miss out and for her parents to have an extra financial burden compared to those. who have been awarded DLA when her care needs have been clearly evidenced by her school.
When thinking about what's fair and what isn't you need to look at the big picture. I've been receiving PIP for over 10 years. I'm also someone who advises others on how to fill in their PIP form. I love research and spent a long time looking at the differences between PIP and DLA. I followed the cerebra guide when filling in my daughters form as it was constantly documented as the most effective reference guide when applying for DLA. In addition to that, I had someone else cross-reference the guide and our application to ensure I hadn't missed anything out and was using the most appropriate wording. What I'm saying is, alongside having significant personal and professional experience, I put in a lot of work to ensure the application was the best it could be.

@Jt1985 if you look at the form they don't award points fo bad behaviour so the adviser you spoke to was correct. When talking about the ASB you need to discuss the extra care she need now in relation to the question 'Do they need to be supervised during the day to keep safe?'

If you haven't already have a look at the cerebra guide as it talks you through what they're looking for and how you should word the statements you make

Lo89 · 01/08/2023 07:41

@mooneigh I haven't had mine yet still but I called to ask for the points I can't believe they don't name them on the letter! Glad I called now I just followed advise on MN as to best course what to do next.
I've answered back each point of rejection and why she needs extra care/ supervision above and beyond a child of her age. I think that's the formula on how they want these forms filled out which I hadn't done before so fingers crossed for a more successful MR.
I would give them a call for your reasonings and have a think on the why your child needs extra support or supervision more than a child of their age.
I only sent mine last week so probably have a few more weeks to wait.
Good luck 🤞🏽

Well done!that’s great news. When was it done? Xx such a relief for u x

Everlong1234 · 01/08/2023 09:50

@Danleigh89 thank you. I was so surprised I didn't ask when, but the call handler said it had been done in the last few days so payment should be this week. Hope you get good news soon!

Jt1985 · 01/08/2023 10:11

I know dla can’t be awarded for behaviour! I stated that she has referral in place for peads and umbrella pathway however they didn’t contact the school or doctor to confirm! However I have done a MR with the eveidence that she is on waiting list which the doctor did expidite as they are so concerned about her! I also sent a risk assessment from school( what child really has one) unlesss they have additional needs! It’s also states on there she has mental health concerns. She is now excluded and will be attending a special school, I have a safety plan in place following advice from chams( I have put all sharps and medication away) as when she goes into meltdown mode her behaviour is so risky! I also have to lock my windows and doors as she will run away with no shoes and socks on! So I have put all eveidence in the MR.

Muva306 · 01/08/2023 10:36
