DLA wait times 2023 Part 10

JimnJoyce · 21/07/2023 10:43

hi thought i'd start a new thread as the last one is completely full and won't let me post.

Well I've just spoken to a very understanding man on the phone who confirmed that my daughters application is with the decision making team and I should hear within the next 3 weeks which would take us up to 16 weeks.
I told him I would like to make a formal complaint about the inordinately long wait times and he assured me he would make that known and pass it along as soon as we were off the phone.

Does anyone has scan date of the 4/5?

Jt1985 · 31/07/2023 16:16

I’ve just had my knock back letter with no reasons on why they didn’t accept! Which I find really odd! As how you can ask for MR and question each point is beyond me! However I have just quoted when they say’ that the child must require continual supervision to avoid substantial harm to herself or others and pin pointed my daughters extreme behaviours of a child the same age!! I have enclosed more evidence, I’m still not holding my breath though even though it took me 4 hours to complete! Surely a child that is permanently excluded and starting a special school who is waiting for peads/ umbrella pathway and has lots of support in place is not classed as a normal 12 year old?? And is unaware of risks to herself and others??? This whole thing is stressing me out to the max! Anyone else going through an MR?? What are the timescales

Muva306 · 31/07/2023 16:19

@Soph194 no but mine in slightly before yours 28/4

Soph194 · 31/07/2023 16:32

It’s making me more nervous as it gets closer 😬😂

PicklelilyBobtail · 31/07/2023 17:15

Can anyone advise, if you’ve been awarded and gets universal credit, did you just leave a message on your journal letting them know?? Bit unsure what to do

Good luck, I have read that a good chunk of MR are overturned so fingers crossed for you.

Hi, I phoned last Monday and the lady was very nice and said I should hear a decision by the 15th august but I don’t trust them so I’ll phone by the 17th if I don’t hear anything 😂

Hey I rang this morning it got sent to Dm this morning so just waiting now. I’m 6th April. Urs might have already been done. Doesn’t look like they are sending texts out lately only finding out when people ring

Jadepac22 · 31/07/2023 18:17

Yeah u need to report a change and then click on the children part and then make changes, seems to be taking a while for them to verify the changes though I’m still waiting

Thank you 😊

PLJ44 · 31/07/2023 19:04

Hi
Been reading all your posts and am wondering what a scan date is please? I called on 4th April to request a form (so that the claim would start from that date if it was successful) and have been told it was received on 27th April. Which one would be the scan date? Am obviously hoping it's the 4th! 😂
Many thanks

My daughters was received 4/4, her award letter was sent out (without any chaser phone calls from us) on the 26/7.

She doesn’t have an official medical diagnosis and all we had was a supporting statement from her nursery teacher who had known her for a few months. We were awarded middle rate care!

PLJ44 · 31/07/2023 19:46

@Klw88 Thank you.... Bummer 🥴🙄😂

mooneigh · 31/07/2023 20:34

@Jt1985 @Lo89 I just had my rejection letter through today so thats 2 weeks lost from the decision date until when the MR needs to be in.

They did not contact the school,
They did not contact the Doctors,
They did not contact the physio.
Even worst... they did not acknowledge the phone call I made on 3rd May to say my daughter had a diagnosis which is a disability and causes her Mobility issues.

They have completely over looked my claim and information. Ridiculous. There is people getting it with no evidence and no diagnosis... how fair is that!

I had enough so went to CAB to help me. Now there saying they can't do anything for 2 weeks so ask for an extension.... But I'm afraid will it be acknowledged and an extension given.

Or do I hope for the best and just send it off hmm 😒

Jt1985 · 31/07/2023 20:58

@mooneigh honestly I am so annoyed aswel, they haven’t contacted any one either just said she dosent need any more help or supervision apparantly! The MR I have sent today I have put more letters from doctor, peads, police( as she was in trouble for asb😫( this is why she can’t go out as she’s vulnerable and easily led) and from camhs saying they are happy that school have put referral into umbrella pathway aswell! I do hope I’ve done enough now, but knowing my luck it will be a No again! I actually think it depends on who gets your form tbh! I am going to call tomorrow and tell them the reasons I disagree over the phone and tell them
i have sent a letter too disagreeing with there decision! They also tried to tell me on the phone they don’t award dla for behaviour! It’s a bit more then bad behaviour when my daughter is threatening to kill herself, getting overwhelmed, having meltdowns etc. and will be starting a special school in September for vulnerable students! The lady on the phone also told me that is in the future. I said is this normal for a child to go to a special school and she then advised me to do a MR😫😫I’m hoping someone will actually listen this time 🤞do you know the times they are taking to do MR

mooneigh · 31/07/2023 21:05

It is outrageous and so unfair. On the phone originally she told me a month and then said 4/5 weeks. But I've since seen people saying longer than that. CAB told me they have a month to respond to MR. But who knows. So annoying 🙄 Good luck 👍

Jt1985 · 31/07/2023 21:06

@mooneigh no I would just bullet point every reason they say no and contradict what they say with your child’s needs!
as your child needs physio, when they say can the child walk etc then refer to the physio your child recieves and what for etc!!

and I would also write how concerning it is they haven’t contacted any professionals so how they can come to that conclusion is not correct!
I wouldn’t wait as you might miss the deadline and you don’t want to go through all this again!

also doing it in writing and photo copy and send recorded delievery that’s what I have done as you just can’t trust them to do there job properly😫
