@NoWordForFluffy you're taking one for team today 🤣 let us know!!🤞🏼

Just got in before 5pm! 🤣

Spoke with Neil / Neal / Neale who was lovely and confirmed they had the school support plan and also that it's not with a DM yet. 10-11 weeks on average at the mo, so thinks it should be soon that I'll hear.

SickKid · 23/06/2022 17:10

@NoWordForFluffy it was 11 weeks today for me and decision made this morning

doadeer · 23/06/2022 17:10

I sent mine on the 12th but it was only scanned in on the 19th so guessing that's another 2/3 weeks 🙄

Oh man. Such a long wait.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/06/2022 17:12

@SickKid, that's Tuesday for me. <taps fingers>

Twinmummyanda7yearold · 23/06/2022 17:46

Fingers crossed 11 weeks on Tuesday 🤞🏼 I really hope my DM has the texting ability lol keep checking my phone for DWP every time it pings 🙈🙈🤣

sulli19 · 23/06/2022 18:48

I'm just stalking my bank for upcoming payments! 🤣

Maybe we'll be in the overtime queue this weekend? 🤞

Poppysmum14 · 23/06/2022 20:06

Hi all
my daughter is almost 8 and has Autism. She has sensory issues so barking dogs and crying toddlers is one of her triggers. If we have to walk past a dog or baby crying she will stop and refuse to go any further. I used to carry her when this would happen but now she’s getting heavy and I’ve got a bad back. She also has no sense of danger and needs guidance. Do you think she would be entitled for mobility on DLA? She can walk so I’m unsure myself if she will get it.

Hammers91 · 23/06/2022 20:31

@NoWordForFluffy literally been checking my bank too although as time goes on I’m certain I’ve been declined 😞

Twinmummyanda7yearold · 23/06/2022 20:47

@NoWordForFluffy I've seen someone on the FB group who's 13th and with the DM so I'm hoping they do get ours in the overtime que for a head start on the week ahead 🤞🏼 (wishful thinking I know but I think it's slowly driving me crazy 😝)

NoWordForFluffy · 23/06/2022 20:53

In a way I hope it might be a while yet, if DS is diagnosed dyspraxic at the weekend. Then I can send that report in too. But if I'm getting an award without it (please god!) then I'd rather not wait!

SickKid · 23/06/2022 21:10

@Poppysmum14 are you on the fb group 'DLA for children'? If you search on there for 'smi rules' you should find a flow chart. If your child meets every criteria on there then she would qualify for high rate mobility. If you can't find it let me know and I'll see if I can find it and post it here

Poppysmum14 · 23/06/2022 21:15

Thank you yes I think I’ve seen a flow chart she ticks
some but not all. So it looks doubtful. Thought as much :( thank you x

Bizzlemizzle · 23/06/2022 21:58

@Poppysmum14 My son is similar - but as well as just point blank stopping he can also bolt off and if he wants to bolt he will make sure he does no matter who's holding him.
He got LRM without a diagnosis a couple of years ago! So while she may not tick the boxes for the higher rate you could still get the lower rate mobility.

I've just looked at a flow chart (didn't know they existed) and we could have a good shot at getting HRM, providing they award us HRC.

Poppysmum14 · 23/06/2022 22:11

@Bizzlemizzle Poppy used to bolt and have bad tantrums and lash out but she’s calmed a lot as she’s got older. But I only plucked up the courage to apply for DLA recently. Hope you get rewarded. X

Bizzlemizzle · 23/06/2022 22:15

@Poppysmum14 Really hoping he does calm down - he's getting bigger and stronger now so harder to handle.

It took me some self-convincing to apply, it was when we added up all the extra expenses for us to realise we could do with some financial help for him.

I hope you hear soon too!

Poppysmum14 · 23/06/2022 22:34

@Bizzlemizzle how old is he?

Bizzlemizzle · 23/06/2022 22:52

@Poppysmum14 He's 8.

Poppysmum14 · 23/06/2022 23:09

@Bizzlemizzle Autistic Boys struggle more than girls don’t they. And they are heavier and stronger so I bet it’s a battle every time you leave the house 😥x

SickKid · 24/06/2022 04:48

@Bizzlemizzle that's why I'm going to be doing an MR. Only been awarded mrc but my child fits all the criteria on the smi flowchart. Apparently they are much more likely to grant it after 5 years old so may have to wait a few months if the MR doest change the award.

@Poppysmum14 you may well qualify for lrm - it's a much lower threshold than hrm. I justbthought I'd mention the smi chart as some of what you said fits that.

Good luck to both of you 🤞

Dogs and crying children are my child’s triggers too. It’s hard leaving the house without seeing one or the other so I feel your pain! I’m also hoping we’re entitled to mobility.

Decafflatteplease · 24/06/2022 07:19

Could someone post the mobility flow chart for me please?

Legofigure · 24/06/2022 09:35

@Decafflatteplease the flowcharts are in this document.

Autistic Boys struggle more than girls don’t they. And they are heavier and stronger so I bet it’s a battle every time you leave the house

This is rather simplistic. Many autistic girls struggle just as much as boys. Some may present differently but it doesn’t mean they struggle any less. The 50th centile weight for 8 year olds is the same for boys and girls, and by 10-14y/o 50th centile for girls is every so slightly more. There are no statistically significant differences in the strength of different sex pre-pubescent children.
