Hi, I just wanted to ask is a DM the same as a case manager?

Lozin · 09/06/2022 17:54

Also for those who have been through the process - would you recommend I sent his entire assessment (26 page report) or just the diagnosis letter? TIA

Legofigure · 09/06/2022 17:58

@Lozin Send the whole report as DLA is based on needs rather than diagnosis and presumably the assessment sets out DS’s needs more comprehensively than the diagnosis letter.

Sarah3587 · 09/06/2022 23:52

I hear about people worrying about them contacting the school but personally I wish they had contacted my daughters school because she would have been awarded hrm and we’d be able to get a wheelchair accessible car that she desperately needs.
what’s the chances of her being awarded it if I appeal? I spoke to her teacher and paediatrician today and they are both writing me a report to send in with the appeal.

Legofigure · 10/06/2022 00:01

65% of DLA appeals are upheld.

You can’t say DD would have definitely been awarded HRM if the school had been contacted even if she meets the criteria because of everyone that was entitled to HRM got it no one would successfully appeal and they do.

People shouldn’t rely on schools being contacted.

Decafflatteplease · 10/06/2022 07:29

We are waiting on our c.o.c I rang yesterday and apparently they are working on ones received in the first week of Feb, I know there's a few of us on here waiting for a c.o.c decision

Mumabear239 · 10/06/2022 07:41

I am also waiting on a coc @Decafflatteplease i didn’t know that a coc is last to be dealt with I always thought it was all the one system fort in first to be dealt with. My scan date is the 7th April so I’ve got a long way yet .

Chattycatty · 10/06/2022 07:51

@Twinmummyanda6yearold Not sure of my scan date but I phoned for the form on the 24th Feb all in it took 14 weeks from the phonecall to getting the backpayment.

Sodie · 10/06/2022 07:59

@Sarah3587 did they not contact your ot? I'm so panicked now, I honestly don't care what level of care we get (even though it's 24/7) but we need a car with a large boot. This wait is like the last weeks of a pregnancy I swear.

dawny30xx · 10/06/2022 08:57

Hi

ive been waiting on a coc scan date 1st of March when I phoned the other week the lady said to expect to hear by the end of July as they can take up to 20 weeks I know another lady on here waited 22 weeks for hers! They don’t take it as priority as you still continue to get your original payment! But I’m hating the wait it feels like it’s going on and on…..

Legofigure · 10/06/2022 09:26

Sodie you shouldn’t rely on them contacting anyone because they don’t alway or even most of the time, instead you should send evidence.

Sodie · 10/06/2022 09:38

I did send evidence, I'm just clutching at straws here that the reason it's taking so long is that they are contacting people involved haha

Indr · 10/06/2022 09:53

@Sodie what’s your scan date?

Sodie · 10/06/2022 10:13

23rd March. Been with a decision maker since I'm guessing Monday afternoon because I phoned Tuesday morning.

CbennB · 10/06/2022 10:25

@Sodie Give them a call today. I called on Monday, no decision. I called Wednesday and the decision had been made. My scan date was 22nd March. I sent no evidence, only dates of apps with CAMHS , the school Senco filled out the someone you know form and my little ones struggles and was awarded HRC LRM. I’m sure everything will be fine, but I get how anxious you must be feeling

Hopeful110 · 10/06/2022 10:27

So I just got off the phone to the DLA, my claim for my baby daughter who was born with Bilateral Microtia Atresia and conductive hearing loss of 70%.. they scanned her forms on 23rd March. Everytime I've called I've been told different things...but today they have said that because I haven't claimed child benefit for her that they need to get a reference number for her which can take a week, then it'll be handed to a DM to look at and decide if any investigations need to be done etc...so call back in 3 weeks....not being funny but why wasn't this reference number sorted out on Monday when the other woman said she had pulled the claim out of que to be dealt with as urgent. Why wasn't is arranged then so by today it'd be sorted and given to a DM. By the end of June it's going to be 14 weeks! Anyone else had this issue regarding the reference number stuff??

Indr · 10/06/2022 10:31

I am 15th March and still nothing I was told with DM 1st of June and called yesterday and still no decision I will be on 13 weeks on tuesday

Legofigure · 10/06/2022 10:32

@Hopeful110 Probably because the person on Monday didn’t know DD didn’t have a child reference number/NI number until the claim was looked at in more detail, she wouldn’t know by just pulling the forms out of the queue and marking it as urgent.

gemma1988 · 10/06/2022 10:57

I was told yesterday the are working on 29th march dates. But I have seen people who have sent claims in after me already awarded with money in the bank. My scan date was 6th April so over 9 weeks for me. Told me to ring back in a week or 2!

NovaaStormx · 10/06/2022 13:18

I'm just on hold to them now. Still think ours is a decline but will be good to have an answer once and for all so I can park it and forget about it until I've got more support for my daughter. Scan date 24th March.

Sodie · 10/06/2022 13:37

Declined on both. I'm in pieces, absolutely heartbroken. Going to come off this thread now. Our life is so difficult I'm with my daughter 24/7 she is mentally and physically unwell.

KJB88 · 10/06/2022 13:52

I came to this thread as I wanted to check wait times and have just realised we have a long way to go yet, our form was received on the 4th May! Be interesting to keep track through here though and try to keep myself sane! So sorry to those who haven't gotten the decision that they want, it seems so unfair and down to pot luck sometimes!

NovaaStormx · 10/06/2022 13:58

47 minutes later... the guy who answered clearly didn't want to speak to me..just said no decision made yet and claims are taking up to 12 weeks and I'm on week 11...

Sadie- I'm so sorry it wasn't the new you hoped for. Don't forget you can appeal and by the sounds of it you have grounds to do so. Don't give up hope x

Bournecrazy · 10/06/2022 14:32

Does it cause much issue if i haven't put the child benefit number on the form? I only put my NI on it as I don't have any paperwork from when i applied as it was over 9 years ago and I've moved many times since.

Legofigure · 10/06/2022 14:48

@Bournecrazy it won’t make a material difference. It just means they have to search for the CB number and corresponding child reference number/NI number which is slightly easier if you include the CB number.
