Ok so how long does the appeal process take? I just no I've been turned down. I'm always right about my gut feeling.

Indr · 09/06/2022 09:01

after what I have been reading I am lucky to have a diagnosis at 6 years old at least everything can be in place for future school. Like I say didn’t know much about ASD and always used the excuse she’s not very well when she wouldn’t play at a play area and wouldn’t talk to anybody and always sed she suffered with bad ear ache as she always covered her ears wasn’t until she started pre school I got a lot of information from them and they helped me loads

gemma1988 · 09/06/2022 09:49

Has anyone had any news today ?

Boymummax · 09/06/2022 09:54

Yesterday I was told a decision had been made but needed to be finalised and they told me to call back today.
I called at 9am and was on hold 3 minutes! Usually I'm on hold for 30 mins! But the lady on the phone explained to me that a trainee decision maker was dealing with my claim and she has made a decision but is now being checked by her supervisor to make sure she hasn't awarded "to high or to low"

Has anyone else had this? If so how long does this take from here? She told me she's pretty sure there will be an a decision on the system by Monday the latest but just wanted to know if anyone had been through this themselves.

Scan date was 8th of April so have been very quick with ours :)

Indr · 09/06/2022 10:05

Gemgems25 · 09/06/2022 10:52

Just an update should anyone still be waiting for a result for claim scanned on the 30th March. I know it differs by area but I am in Kent and I was told this morning that they are working on the 29th March and should expect another 1 to 2 weeks for them to start looking at the 30th March forms.

Kelsmaizey · 09/06/2022 12:24

Update: scan date 28th March. Been awarded hrc and lrm for my son. Called this morning to find out but decision was made yesterday. Was only with the dm for one day. Hope everyone else gets good news xxxx

Sodie · 09/06/2022 12:52

Katelouise95 · 09/06/2022 12:53

@NovaaStormx nope no text! Just kept phoning every day!

HayleyJ87 · 09/06/2022 13:49

Just an update if anyone has similar
scan date to me…!
My scan date was 23rd March.
Patiently waited until 31st May before phoning, I was told then it was with a decision maker.

Phoned again today (9th June) to be told my claim had been accepted on the 6th June (no text or email received to state this).
My 8yr old son has severe anxiety disorder and was awarded Lowest Mobility Component and Highest Care Component
Just to add, all the backdated money landed in my bank account this afternoon as well.

Fingers crossed you all get news soon!!

Chattycatty · 09/06/2022 15:46

Do you always get a letter I've had the back dated payment but no letter or email.

Twinmummyanda6yearold · 09/06/2022 15:50

@Chattycatty from what I've heard you usually get the back payment in the bank before the letter arrives, congrats 🥳

Chattycatty · 09/06/2022 15:54

Great thanks and good luck to everyone still waiting 🤞🤞

Twinmummyanda6yearold · 09/06/2022 15:55

@Chattycatty just out of interest, what was your scan date?

Sarah3587 · 09/06/2022 15:58

Sodie · 09/06/2022 12:52

@NovaaStormx scan date 23rd still nothing here either.

Maybe they want to award hrc hrm and they are contacting the relevant medical professionals just to confirm things before they finalise it.
for those of us awarded lrm it’s probably a lot of a simpler process. They don’t hand out hrm often.

Lozin · 09/06/2022 16:19

I've just finished filling in the DLA form, I am going to send it off ASAP.

I'm just wondering from others - as I saw that someone was sadly turned down because the SENCO didn't agree to all points on the form - is it likely they will always talk to school? The school was the one who initially raised flags that DS was 'different' - we sought a private diagnosis and he was diagnosed with ASD and suspected ADHD. The school has written a detailed report of his struggles, which supported his diagnosis of ASD. However, some of his behaviours aren't present at school, but only present at home or with us? For example, his hyperactivity means he constantly runs down the pavement, talks to strangers etc. Ditto for his bed and night time struggles. School wouldn't witness this - so could DLA be potentially refused on those grounds?

Katelouise95 · 09/06/2022 16:49

They spoke to my sons school sen department and also spoke to my sons paediatrician so more than likely they will contact school. Don’t know why cos I sent in the echp and his diagnosis letter so not sure why they have to “check” when it’s clearly all there!

Ltb17 · 09/06/2022 17:00

@Lozin for both of my child's claims they didn't contact the school or senco. I think it very much depends on the dm tbh. Both of mine were awarded hrc and lrm youngest was then given hrc and hrm after a coc

Lozin · 09/06/2022 17:29

Thank you both. It has been a whirlwind few months - so much of DS's behaviour that I thought was 'normal' - I have now come to realise is not. I have traits of ADHD and lots of our family do too, so I'd just thought his behaviour was quirky. I have the private diagnosis report (which includes statements from the school) and also a letter from the school requesting help from an autism charity to come and assess his needs. Hopefully that will be enough. School identified the need for diagnosis in the first place so I would hope they would be supportive of a claim for DLA.

Legofigure · 09/06/2022 17:31

Lorzin more often than not schools aren’t contacted.

Lozin · 09/06/2022 17:39

@Legofigure Thank you. I am going to send the form off tomorrow... and so begins the months of waiting!!!
