Hi when did they say 15 weeks? I got told two weeks ago it should be sorted by tomorrow then last week he couldn’t say if it would be before Xmas! So frustrating when it’s to help our kids! Xx

Dee1618 · 20/11/2022 17:01

Hiya, no one said it to me from DLA, I am assuming after reading most recent comments! 🤣 obviously hoping to hear sooner 🙏🏻 xx

CatherineArthur · 20/11/2022 19:22

Probably about right, I can’t believe how long it’s taking! Thanks xx

Hi all
I got Dla yesterday, mine was revived 17/08/22. They have awarded middle rate which I will be appealing as I have to care for ky son day and night sue to his needs and can not be unsupervised at all and especially whilst outside. I am awaiting for his bugger pushchair which he has been fitted for. Can anyone please tell me if a mobility can be awarded to a four year old and b how long appeals take and or has anyone had a reconsideration of decision overturned pleased. I think it’s very unfair given that the middle rate just about covers the weekly food bill for his diet. Thanks xx

CatherineArthur , I have asked them to look again at my daughters , she’s 14 and has scoliosis ( bend in spine ) with lld ( leg length discrepancy) we’re awaiting on spine team appointment, she has back brace and can’t go out alone due to her balance caused though the pain , she was awarded low rate care no mobility I have asked them to look again at he mobility I sent it off on the 4th nov I have rang them yesterday and she said it had been received and there taking up to 3 weeks

CatherineArthur · 22/11/2022 16:31

Thank you, I hope you get it sorted soon. It seems to vary so much it’s just not consistent! Xx

Awe I received this at the start and it took about another 20 weeks or so. Xx

CatherineArthur · 24/11/2022 01:18

Sorry typo 10 weeks x

Nickisli1 · 24/11/2022 08:16

CatherineArthur...mobility can only be claimed for over 5's so you would need to reapply for that part when your son turns 5

CatherineArthur · 24/11/2022 11:24

Thank you, I spoke with a lovely lady there and it can be calmed but only high rate if under five x

Jazzeybabes89 · 24/11/2022 14:27

For anyone waiting for a mandatory reconsideration.... I called to check mine has been scanned (it was scanned on 18th) - they've said current turnaround for reconsiderations is 3-4 weeks, thought this may be useful to anyone else asking for one x

Lissysmum21 · 28/11/2022 13:09

Has anyone rang today? I'm going to try on my break at work and wondered what wait times were like, we are on 16 weeks wait for a new claim

Rox121 · 30/11/2022 15:46

Anyone had any luck with calling them?. I’m 12 weeks new claim, was hoping to of had an answer before Christmas but it’s not looking likely

Angeldust12 · 30/11/2022 18:56

So after calling 3 different times today and being on hold 50 minutes at a time I eventually got the award moved from medium to high and even though my renewal was due until March 2024 they have extended it to october 2027 so couldn't be happier now getting high rate care and high rate mobility and don't have to worry about applying for a while.

CatherineArthur · 30/11/2022 19:02

Can ask please how you did this? Was it all over the phone? I’m in the process of trying to get mine reconsidered but not sure what I am doing x

Angeldust12 · 01/12/2022 07:18

I phoned back end of Sept to say I had change of circumstances and the lady said she would put them in for me but her advice was to fill in another application which she sent out for me to fill in I sent it back and they logged it on the system 15th October and I've just had decision. To do a mandatory reconsideration phone and ask and tell them you want a mandatory reconsideration and try send them more evidence than you did before address to send it to is freepost

Hi Guys just an update I’m 12 weeks New claim, had a txt message 10 mins ago saying We've decided your child qualifies for Disability Living Allowance. You don't need to contact us about this. We'll send you a letter with all you need to know. If you don't get this within 2 weeks please contact us.

hope everyone else has had the same

CatherineArthur · 01/12/2022 20:14

Thank you, I’ve spoken to school today and they’re going to provide evidence for me as well as a report from child development centre. My sons needs have become more since I did the original form. So hopefully they’ll reconsiderX. Thank you so much xx

CMED88 · 06/01/2023 02:47

Hey, I had a letter to say they had received my claim on the 29th of Novemeber , so I'm about 5 weeks waiting , they've said on the letter it could be up to 12 weeks. Is it likely to be before or will I most likely be waiting until mid Feb? We had been claiming before but sent the renewal in too late, in hoping we are still on the system so we aren't waiting even longer.

Mynotsoperfectlittlefamily · 06/01/2023 07:45

@CMED88 mine is still going it's looking at being around 16 weeks from when they received it they think mine will be done by the first week in Feb.

Tinker231 · 08/01/2023 15:04

Hi I receive dla for my daughter and currently work full time. However she is only three and after a year of being in nursery still get phonecalls to collect as the can’t manage her meltdowns and feel I’m literally working to pay childcare that isn’t really working anyways. Does anybody happen to know if i come out of work would i be pushed into another job by universal credit? Despite being her full time carer and single parent? TIA

Mynotsoperfectlittlefamily · 08/01/2023 18:15

@Tinker231 I can't work due to care needs. Depending on the rate of DLA you can get Carers Allowance which would remove the mandatory work element of UC.

CMED88 · 08/01/2023 18:22

No, you wouldn't be pushed into working. You can fill out a change of circumstances form on your UC claim and where you are the sole parent of your daughter you would put that you care for her over 35 hours per week. This would stop the job centre from expecting you to work search until she goes to school. Even after then I think it's age 7 they try and get you to look for work but if you're still having issues with her attending school then , you can explain your situation again in your journal on UC . I hope this helps xx

CMED88 · 08/01/2023 18:23

Sorry the above was in reply to @Tinker231
