@Mamto2boys
my scan date was 7th April and I’ve had letter so I don’t think there as far behind as they are saying .
I did t send any evidence only prescription for his injection he gets for his Arthritis so am hoping they seek the evidence themselves mines is a coc . He receives low care at moment and hoping for mrc n lrm.

Morph22010 · 25/05/2022 13:59

Do people send in blue badge at all as evidence? I sent my sons renewal a few weeks ago and subsequently have been awarded blue badge for him

AReallyUsefulEngine · 25/05/2022 14:10

Mamto2boys putting DC’s name and child reference number (if known) on top of every page of evidence and including a covering letter will mean they know which claim to add it to. If you don’t know your DC’s child reference number put your NI number and child benefit number if you have one. You have nothing to lose by sending it.

Morph I would send the letter that came with the blue badge.

Mumabear239 I wouldn’t rely on DWP seeking advice themselves.

Hi all, my sons been awarded mrc and lrm yesterday. Scanned March 18th. Took just under ten weeks.

This thread has kept me going all this time so thanks all, Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Indr · 25/05/2022 15:39

My scan date 15th March haven’t heard anything yet but I haven’t called anyone else heard anything from 15th March?

Jstir · 25/05/2022 15:51

I haven't heard since 1st February 🤷 phoned them last week and they were waiting to "identify" my son. Apparently they were waiting for the child benefit number, which was on the form I submitted, so I'm going to ring them again on Friday if I've not heard anything.

BoyMama1 · 25/05/2022 16:13

Hi everyone
When you receive your backpack of dla - does this payment affect universal credit ?

Thank you

BoyMama1 · 25/05/2022 16:44

Back pay, not back pack lol

DrHildegardeLanstrom · 25/05/2022 16:58

No it's the child's money so not considered by UC. However tell them so that you get disabled child element and carers element (if applicable) and get those backdated.

Transport is included in my daughters ehcp (education health care plan) because without it she wouldn’t be able to attend school. It’s an integral part of the ‘plan’ in order to educate her. As the poster says her son has trouble getting to school, it is important she mentions this and if a review is due soon it’s a good time to mention it. She doesn’t necessarily need hrm as the help is available without it. As I said my daughter has lrm and has days she cannot walk and because of this no matter where she goes to school she’ll be legally entitled to transport as her ehcp states she needs it in order to attend school.

Good to hear, did you call them to find out? I'm a few days behind you

Mamto2boys · 25/05/2022 17:09

@Mumabear239 if thats the case I really don't understand the system and how people before your scanned date haven't heard anything or received a pay but people like yourself with a more recent scanned date have had a decision - it doesn't make sense, is it to do with area of where the claim has come from and ends up with if that makes sense at all I have no clue with any of this?
@AReallyUsefulEngine that makes a lot of sense, I don't want to pester them and think I will wait for them to ask if they need anything, it's just evidence backing up whay I've written that I've come across but from a professional witnessing it as well as a new potential diagnoses of sleep apnea in the process but I maybe should wait until I actually know with that diagnoses

BoyMama1 · 25/05/2022 17:10

Thank you @DrHildegardeLanstrom
I have told them about the dla award and I have asked for the carers element to be added
I also applied for carers allowance and I was successful for that - updated the journal with that info.

Thanks again xxx

AReallyUsefulEngine · 25/05/2022 17:15

Transport is included in my daughters ehcp (education health care plan) because without it she wouldn’t be able to attend school.

Well, as per the case law, it shouldn’t be unless there are exceptional circumstances and needing transport to attend on its own isn’t exceptional circumstances. Unless you are saying the case law is incorrect.

She doesn’t necessarily need hrm as the help is available without it.

I never said she did.

she’ll be legally entitled to transport as her ehcp states she needs it in order to attend school.

She would be legally entitled to transport regardless of whether it is in the EHCP or not (which legally it shouldn’t be unless exceptional circumstances) because transport is covered by separate law.

Mumabear239 · 25/05/2022 17:15

@Mamto2boys i havnt had a decision yet . I have had a letter apologising it’s taking so long and there working hard to get decision. My son already receives lrc sent in a change of circumstances on the 7th of April not called up but did get letter today regarding the wait .

AReallyUsefulEngine · 25/05/2022 17:16

Mamto2boys I wouldn’t rely on DWP asking for more evidence.

Make sure you ask for it backdated to the day your claim was from you have to ask in your journal and say that you can only tell them from today as you have just had to wait for your decision

Soubs · 25/05/2022 18:14

I've been following this thread for a few weeks, so thanks for keeping me sane.

Just wanted to update you, our application was received & scanned on 7th March and we received our first payment today (strangely it hit my bank account whilst on hold chasing up the decision). She said it can take 10 days for the letters to arrive after the decision.

So 11 weeks & 2 days ours took altogether. We got HRC & LRM which is what I was expecting (& hoping for).

Good luck everyone who is still waiting x

Hopeful110 · 25/05/2022 18:52

@Leaf1216 ohhh thats good news! I'm not far behind you either! Scanned 23rd March so hoping we have a decision by end of next week, don't know whether to call them and find out where our claim sits in the system atm :/

Katelouise95 · 25/05/2022 19:56

@Hopeful110 mine was scanned 22nd March, I phoned today to be told not even with DM yet and should hear by end of next week if not week after.

Shell2020 · 25/05/2022 21:03

Just a quick update….our scan date was 18th March.

I called today and was told it’s not even with a DM yet and that they are working up-to and including the 17th Match.

Hopeful110 · 26/05/2022 07:12

@Katelouise95 ohh blimey.... it makes me so nervous not knowing whats going on 🙈 hopefully by end of next week they might have some more answers. 🤞
@Shell2020 hopefully you'll have a decision soon then, the waiting drives us crazy aye

Katelouise95 · 26/05/2022 07:57

I got told once it’s with a DM it can take anywhere from a day to 2 weeks for a decision depends on how much info was added to how long it takes for them to decide. She said on average they get though 1-2 days at a time. So hopefully it won’t be long for us to find out however I got told they’re now working up to and including the 20th? Seems like they just Chuck random dates and time lines at us.

Hopeful110 · 26/05/2022 09:04

@Katelouise95 yeah I think they say anything to get us off the phone, when I rang 2 weeks ago in one breathe she said it was a DM and then in the next one she said they were working on claims upto 7th march...so which is it? 🙈🤣 this whole thing is so stressful... but worth it to make sure we get the right support for our kiddies aye. If they are genuinely working up to 20th march then hopefully by end of next week we should have some sort of answer, will you call mid week?

Scanner20 · 26/05/2022 09:27

My scan date is 21st March, I've called this morning. Claim isn't with DM yet but could be picked up any day now. Should have a decision next week and said I can call back, wonder if they'll work the bank holidays. I could phone Wednesday for an update if I've not heard anything before then. Won't call before. He didn't mention any dates they are currently working on.
