Yes, to get any information or communication about DS. Referrals via the SENCO should all have some paperwork/emails, they won’t just be verbal. You could make a request to the therapist as well.

Needanewadventure2021 · 16/05/2022 20:14

Shes never denied the OT referral however it has only been verbal. I remember the phonecall well following her observing him in class.

To be honest I think this is going to escalate further now. Ive argued their failings towards him many many times now. I dont know if they are telling the truth about the phone call not happening so I'm not sure what to do there.

AReallyUsefulEngine · 16/05/2022 20:23

There will be evidence of the classroom observation and OT referral, it wouldn’t all be verbal even if she only spoke to you on the phone. In future follow up verbal conversations with emails so you have a paper trail. If there was a telephone conversation it may be included in the SAR response.

Needanewadventure2021 · 16/05/2022 20:36

Thank you for all your advice @AReallyUsefulEngine it's been so valuable. I have hundreds of emails. I think the SAR is a great way to go. Do they have a certain amount of time to send it? As I have less than a month now from date of their letter

AReallyUsefulEngine · 16/05/2022 20:40

For most SARs the timescales is 1 month, if it is deemed complex it’s 2 month. But don’t wait for the SAR to make a mandatory reconsideration. Send a MR and put further evidence to follow then send it on once you have it.

Needanewadventure2021 · 16/05/2022 20:42

I'm not sure what further evidence I can send?

Needanewadventure2021 · 16/05/2022 20:42

Whilst I'm waiting for movements on things?

AReallyUsefulEngine · 16/05/2022 20:44

I meant any evidence you get from the SAR you can send on.

Needanewadventure2021 · 16/05/2022 20:46

Ok thank you. I need to read up on how to do an MR properly and get it sent back

Bluemum87 · 16/05/2022 20:50

Wilzo235 · 17/05/2022 08:23

Emma1789 · 17/05/2022 10:46

The decision to approve my daughters dla was last Monday. I was told the back payment and future payments. I phoned up today to be told the decision hasn't been cleared so no payments have been sent. They are emailing the dm today. Has this happened to anyone else?

Ltb17 · 17/05/2022 10:51

Ltb17 · 17/05/2022 10:53

Nicky80catri · 17/05/2022 11:27

Does anyone know what date they are on now. Don't want to keep ringing up lol x

Leaf1216 · 17/05/2022 11:30

Congratulations to everyone with thier decisions, @Ltb17 you finally got there with a positive outcome, excellent!

Scanned march 11th here, 9weeks 4 days. Just phone to see if there is any up date, just waiting on a decision maker to pick it up. Said turn around is roughly 9 weeks so I shouldn't be much longer. Didn't give a date they a currently working on.

Mummy2boys1520 · 17/05/2022 11:31

@Ltb17 that's brilliant so happy for you. I'm still waiting I'm going to call back up once I get home as it's ridiculous I was 14th December and still haven't heard anything

BoyMama1 · 17/05/2022 12:01

Hi everyone
Completely new to dla and this forum
I'd love as much advice as you can give:

When claiming dla how many months/years were you awarded for?

How do I know that the award I'm given is correct for my child?

Are you able to appeal the award length as I don't see any change happening any time soon for my child and I was told without diagnosis you're only given 1 year award, then you need to reapply, is this correct?

What lengths of times does it take your child to perform basic tasks such as getting dressed, eating, going to bed etc?

Thank you

Ltb17 · 17/05/2022 12:01

@Mummy2boys1520 yes defo phone, they told me this morning januarys are being worked through now

Kerrik94 · 17/05/2022 12:08

How long is the wait for back payment to be in your account

AReallyUsefulEngine · 17/05/2022 12:27

BoyMana1 The length of awards varies, some are 2 years (usually the minimum award) and some are until 16 and everything in between. DLA awards are based on needs, not diagnosis, a lack of diagnosis doesn’t mean an award will only be for 1 year.

If DC’s needs correspond with the criteria for the award you have been given it’s right, if it doesn’t it’s not.

I don’t don’t whether you can just appeal the award length, but if you think it is the right award it would be daft to do so in my opinion as the award could be reduced.

What lengths of times does it take your child to perform basic tasks such as getting dressed, eating, going to bed etc?

This will vary considerably depending on age and needs.

Mummy2boys1520 · 17/05/2022 12:47

@Ltb17 just got of the phone, mines with the case worker now. So said it should be done by the end of this week but has asked the case manager to call me so we will see

Kerrik94 · 17/05/2022 12:53
