Does anyone know if universal credit backdate their disability element when you’re awarded?

Ltb17 · 13/05/2022 17:00

Still no call from dm, haven't bothered calling again because I don't wanna be told something untrue again. Think I'll just wait for a letter or money in bank now!

Bonnieandclide1 · 13/05/2022 17:10

Thanks x

Leaf1216 · 13/05/2022 17:48

@Memum22 yes, although I think you have to request. From what I've read future payments change immediately but back date date take a while to come through. I've left a note in my journal saying I have applied and what date hoping it will help but not sure.

@Ltb17 can't believe they haven't been in touch with you yet, I really hope all this messing you about pays off for you and your ds.

Kerrik94 · 13/05/2022 17:49

@Memum22 yeah they will if you put the start of when u want to be backdated so I would say when you sent the letter or when they got the letter

Nicky80catri · 13/05/2022 17:54

Anyone heard anything that's in march today guys. This wait is killing me x

kimmy2022 · 13/05/2022 18:04

@Nicky80catri Hey mine was scanned the 3rd March i got told the end of this week beginning of next i should hear something. Its getting frustrating now.

Memum22 · 13/05/2022 18:08

I called today. I’m far behind everyone here mine was received 27th April, I only called as I hadn’t had a letter to say they had got it. She said they were on the 7th March

Nicky80catri · 13/05/2022 18:12

@kimmy2022 mines march 18th. I am so worried about it x

kimmy2022 · 13/05/2022 18:31

@Nicky80catri Same here as some after the beginning of March have got a decision already.

Bournecrazy · 13/05/2022 19:30

Those of you who have had letters/text to say they've got your forms how long after sending them did you heard from them? I only sent mine last week but wondered if I should of had a curtesy message to say 'we've got your forms'

Nicky80catri · 13/05/2022 19:34

@kimmy2022 I have seen two on this thread scanned 23rd march and had a decision x

Ltb17 · 13/05/2022 19:46

@Leaf1216 thank you so do I. I hope you have a decision too, I have a new claim in for my other child too, his date is 23rd march.

NoWordForFluffy · 13/05/2022 19:56

@Bournecrazy, I got my letter on 23 April and it arrived with them on 12 April.

Waiting 5 or so more weeks is going to send me a bit mad!

Bournecrazy · 13/05/2022 20:31

By the looks of it I'll be waiting around 10 weeks. It's just that little bit of worry that my form hasn't arrived as I haven't heard but hopefully next week I might get the 'we've got it' letter.

I also applied for an EHCP on the same day and the next day I had emails saying its being processed, I wish they were all that quick

Leaf1216 · 13/05/2022 20:32

@Ltb17 and me!
Youngest 11th March, oldest 18th March. I think if both of them get declined I'll be sitting in a dark corner rocking.

Ljjb · 13/05/2022 20:53

Hope this helps! I rang UC the day after i was notified of my little one's dla award on 4th May. I received letters via my journal yesterday to confirm the decisionmaker had accepted the changes to disability element and carer's element under special circumstances as the change occured outside the allowed timeframe (within one assessment window) i then recieved this today with the calculation, so i should receive my backdated amount next week.

hjddd · 14/05/2022 10:19

Hi everyone, been following since the last thread. Mine was scanned 8th March and received text saying he qualifies yesterday, haven't had any payments yet though.

rghltifndn · 14/05/2022 10:31

@hjddd That’s great news!

DD was 10th March so hoping it won’t be much longer for her as it’s already over 9 weeks now.

Kerrik94 · 14/05/2022 10:44

mine was the 4th of march and haven’t heard anything yet

Spacemonkey2016 · 14/05/2022 12:40

Has anyone ever been asked to send in a birth certifcate before? Now my son's claim is processed, I'm doing my daughter's, and they have written to me asking for her birth certificate. I didn't have to send my son's. Thanks x

AReallyUsefulEngine · 14/05/2022 12:43

@Spacemonkey2016 Sometimes you are asked to send additional documents to confirm identity.

Nicky80catri · 14/05/2022 17:48

Anyone had a message from DLA for mid march yet guys x

Bluemum87 · 15/05/2022 00:08

Mine was scanned on 4th march still not heard anything 🤷‍♀️

Mamto2boys · 15/05/2022 09:35

Been following this thread a little while quietly, as I have no idea how any of this works 😅
Forms were received on the 12th of April, I had a confirmation letter sent to me to confirm dated on the 18th but I received it on the 28th, it says to contact after 8 weeks if not heard anything, so 8 weeks from the 12th or from the 18th? What are rough times at the moment for a decision? I know it may be different in different areas, while scenario is a stress for someone who's already stressed 😅 please help! Also I don't really do phone calls so the likelihood of me ringing them at the moment is zero, not until at least 8 weeks have passed which is why I'm asking on here 🤔
