@Ltb17 see that worries me now, but I would appeal on that grown due to the fact that it doesn't need to be diagnosed with anything just show that your child needs more then an child of his age. But that has definitely made me worry now

Ltb17 · 09/05/2022 16:04

@Mummy2boys1520 sorry didn't mean to add to your worries. I'm very new to this so just kind of took their word for it at the time. The decision maker actually called and asked me why we didn't have a diagnosis?! I was like, I wish I did but it takes time, what more can I say to that lol. It was only when I went back to the paediatrician and he told me they didn't need the diagnosis and he wrote the letter for me stating it in there, he actually put in there that my son qualifies both under smi and vuw, he has told me if they don't award it this time to appeal it and he would send any further evidence they require. But I have to wonder if it's worth the hassle sometimes.

Mummy2boys1520 · 09/05/2022 16:08

@Ltb17 don't worry I think everyone is worrying to a point. But yeah I would definitely appeal if they gave me that reason it's so hard at times some time it feels like I'm going in circles

Ltb17 · 09/05/2022 16:09

@Mummy2boys1520 it's is horrible and so frustrating especially waiting this long! The initial wait is bad enough!

Mummy2boys1520 · 09/05/2022 16:11

@Ltb17 honestly it is horrible

Ltb17 · 09/05/2022 16:21

@Mummy2boys1520 I take it they don't text for coc? I've just had a text saying my child qualifies but I also have a new claim in but that was only scanned 23rd march.

Mummy2boys1520 · 09/05/2022 16:22

@Ltb17 I'm not sure as I never got a text when my son was originally awarded

Ltb17 · 09/05/2022 16:25

I don't really want to phone tonight lol think I'll try first thing and see who it's for!

Nicky80catri · 09/05/2022 16:51

@Ltb17 someone else on this thread got awarded for the 23rd march. We had ours scanned on march 18th and still heard nothing. Think it depends on decision maker by all accounts. And the area you live in x

Ltb17 · 09/05/2022 18:30

I shall call in the morning and find out.
@Mummy2boys1520 did you have any luck?

Needanewadventure2021 · 09/05/2022 18:46

28th Feb and still no decision. It's driving me mad now as when I leave work I'm on hold too long and they close before I get through. So I don't even have the time to call

3babies22 · 09/05/2022 18:57

@Needanewadventure2021 if it helps we are 24th feb still no decision when i ring i just get told its still with DM and no notes on to say they have requested info from anyone. So frustrating.

Needanewadventure2021 · 09/05/2022 19:04

@3babies22 thank you. It's just so frustrating that I can't access them to call. It's the same with Tax Credits, I need to get in touch with them too due to an error with my renewal which is currently resulting in a loss which is incorrect. I cant access them either due to the time I finish work. It's so annoying as I need to speak to someone for both!

Thank you for your update though. I've worried seeing others in March being decided on and I've not heard a thing. When I called last week it hadn't been allocated. I was told to call back Friday. Couldn't get through in time. Same today.

I guess it's still a waiting game. I just really wish I knew

Kerrik94 · 09/05/2022 19:05

they received mine on the 4th of march and was told last week they was working on that week and I call today and they said it another 2 weeks and I’m on my 10th week so I don’t know what to do

Bluemum87 · 09/05/2022 19:29

@Emma1789 when did they make a decision if you don’t mind me asking and how long was it with DM

Emma1789 · 09/05/2022 23:09

@Bluemum87 it was scanned 3rd March and I got the decision today. I hope yours doesn't take too long the wait it awful.

Kerrik94 · 10/05/2022 00:08

how many month do u get backdated if your child get it

Leaf1216 · 10/05/2022 02:15

Ours was scanned march 11th, my ds is 2 (3 in october) so I didn't fill the mobility part out.
I thought I would have to put a new claim in around his birthday? Or should I put the information in now?

NoWordForFluffy · 10/05/2022 06:31

Kerrik94 · 10/05/2022 00:08

how many month do u get backdated if your child get it

If you rang for the form and returned it within 6 weeks of calling, you get it backdated to the date you called. If you downloaded the form, it's from the date they received it.

Emma1789 · 10/05/2022 09:33

Is carers element dependent on what you work even if my daughter gets high rate care

Leaf1216 · 10/05/2022 10:11

@Emma1789 not to sure, have you used a benifit calculator, they are normally pretty accurate to the individual

AReallyUsefulEngine · 10/05/2022 10:17

Carer’s allowance is dependent on what you earn, you can earn £132 pw after expenses.

The carer’s element for UC isn’t dependent on earnings. If you are eligible, the element is added to the claim and treated like other elements (i.e. work allowance disregarded and then the claim reduced by 0.55 per pound of your earnings and carer’s allowance deducted £ for £).

Nicky80catri · 10/05/2022 11:12

Mine got scanned march 18th.... Do i ring them or should i leave it lol. I am undecided x

Zozoh · 10/05/2022 11:14

Hello,
have been lurking but not logged in to comment until today. Our forms for our daughter were scanned 8th March and awaiting a decision. Will keep people posted when we get one. I only phoned once last week. I kinda can’t be doing with phoning all the time because it doesn’t seem to achieve much, other than sitting in a telephone que for 45 minutes +, however they did tell me Wednesday last week that they were working on claims from the 1st March, which seems to be consistent with what I’m reading here. Hope everyone gets the decisions they’re long awaiting for. :-)

When did you put you coc application in?
