@AReallyUsefulEngine thank-you, I think this is what I came across which made me think "hmmm, we could actually get HRM". Time will sure tell though.

Nicky80catri · 02/05/2022 12:50

Tried to call DLA today and it says the server is down. Anyone else tried x

NoWordForFluffy · 02/05/2022 12:57

Are they open on bank holidays? It might be that.

Nicky80catri · 02/05/2022 13:19

@NoWordForFluffy they told me the other day they would be. But goodness knows. I don't think my anxiety can wait much longer. The not knowing is driving me mad lol x

Wilzo235 · 02/05/2022 14:02

I think I read somewhere the decision makers work but the call handlers don’t

Nicky80catri · 02/05/2022 15:25

@Wilzo235 oh ok thanks Hun x

Mum1122 · 02/05/2022 18:51

Off topic but a bit confused For anyone receiving child element and careers element.

I have just had a message on my Journal from The decision maker he has backdated my Child element and carers element but it does not say on the letter will the backdated payments go in with my normal universal credit payment or will it be a separate payment if separate how long from dm letter

any advice would I would be very grateful

Nicky80catri · 02/05/2022 19:27

@Mum1122 it's normally a separate payment when they back date Hun xxx

Polly421 · 02/05/2022 19:52

@Mum1122 I got my backdated payment three days later from when letter was issued.

Mum1122 · 02/05/2022 20:01

@Polly421 @Nicky80catri great saves me calling or waiting for a message can be a week before my work coach gets back to me lol.
Thank you for your help.

Leaf1216 · 02/05/2022 21:09

@Mum1122 hi, is it OK to ask how long you have waiting for back date confirmation since informing UC of dla?

Will be going through the same soon if ds dla is approved. Hope you get your back date soon!

Mum1122 · 02/05/2022 21:35

Regarding child element and careers element

@Leaf1216 yes of course I left a note on my journal on Wednesday (27th April ) and my work coach replied the same day and said she had sent it to the DM and today I received his letter thou my journal stating he had made a decision to backdate.

I read up on a few different websites that it can take up 12 weeks for a decision so was shocked to get a letter today.

Also read that they only backdate up to 31 days my elements have been backdated 5 months to the same date as dla award so am very happy with that.

Anyone that is applying for careers element and child element inform uc as soon as you you send your dla form even if your child’s gets refused and you have to appeal it’s on record that you informed them and there will be no problem backdating (sometimes they can refuse you and you have to appeal it )

I was very stressed waiting for a decision from dla so hope this helps anyone waiting on uc elements.

Wilzo235 · 03/05/2022 09:15

Just rang and had a really angry call handler tell me i shouldn’t be ringing till after 10 weeks as that’s how long it takes to get to a decision maker. Never had one of the rude ones before 🙄

whitwoochantelle · 03/05/2022 09:18

I've still not had a descion 🤣

Wilzo235 · 03/05/2022 09:20

whitwoochantelle · 03/05/2022 09:18

I've still not had a descion 🤣

Aww god! Hope you hear soon. I’m on week 9 today getting restless with it all

Leaf1216 · 03/05/2022 09:33

@Mum1122 that's super helpful, thank you! Just put a note on my journel ready.

@Wilzo235 I had a real rude woman the other day, phoned up and asked if they had received additional paperwork she said no (which they had), when I asked about the current wait she started going off about costing the tax payer. I was dying to point out I pay my taxes too, but then thought what is the relevance. So I opted for the 'kill them with kindness' route, some people!

I'm on week 8 now, dying to hear back now so can only imagine how restless you both feel.

Lisamarie90 · 03/05/2022 09:46

@whitwoochantelle omg your joking me!! That's crazy! Have you called them? I just rang and told me it's now with DM and he was really nice and put a note on my account to say it needs urgently looking at as I've been waiting 10 weeks now. He's the nicest caller I've had. Xx

ParentingPDA88 · 03/05/2022 09:48

Hi all, I’ve been following this thread since I made an application for my child almost 6 weeks ago now, and as time goes on I’m feeling less and less confident that we’ll be awarded. My child isn’t yet diagnosed but is on the pathway for ASD (PDA profile) and ADHD, and I’m concerned about whether I’ve included enough evidence. Along with the form itself I’ve submitted:

A statement from the SENCO confirming my child has a 1:1 assistant at all times
ASD referral form
ADHD referral form
School nurse referral form re: sleep
SENISS report
Ed Psych report (historical but still awaiting an up to date one)
Contact details of OSSME who sees my child fortnightly
GP details to confirm sleep and continence issues.

I guess I’m just looking for some reassurance from other parents who’ve been through the process that the evidence I’ve sent sounds like enough to confirm my child’s needs in the absence of an official diagnosis, as I’ve been advised that the wait for diagnosis in my area can run to several years.

Thanks so much

whitwoochantelle · 03/05/2022 09:48

Yeah I've just spoke to them ive been waiting 11 weeks now to. I had sent off extra info that had been scanned on 3 weeks ago she said she would send them a message today to say all had been received now as that may have been holding the claim up. It's been with D/M over a week

Bizzlemizzle · 03/05/2022 09:50

@Leaf1216 I rang this morning about additional paperwork and she was so lovely! Thankfully she was able to confirm mine was on the system. Took me by suprise. She explained the renewal process to me without being asked about it and basicly said that I have plenty of time to send additional things if I need to which is great because I'm due some meetings with Senco and paediatrics so I can send them more things over.

Bizzlemizzle · 03/05/2022 09:54

@ParentingPDA88 Hi! I applied first time when he was on the pathway and I sent the forms, letter confirming he was on the pathway and a MSP report thing from school and it was enough for us to get him an award.

Its an agonising wait, for everything, he was only diagnosed the week our renewal forms came.

ParentingPDA88 · 03/05/2022 10:07

@Bizzlemizzle thanks so much for the reply it’s super reassuring hearing your experience. For me it’s definitely the long wait times from DLA that has made the whole process that bit more stressful. At not quite 6 weeks I know I’ve still got more waiting ahead so doubt is really creeping in, it’s a challenge to stay hopeful

Lisamarie90 · 03/05/2022 10:18

Omg just had a text. My little boy has qualified for DLA. Can't believe how quick they did it. I only called an hour ago xx

Bizzlemizzle · 03/05/2022 10:21

@ParentingPDA88 absolutely! It's awful waiting around. The weeks we had to wait from assessments to getting the diagnosis were I think the worst time for me. It makes the DLA easier.

@Lisamarie90 fantastic news! I bet you are so relieved and I'm glad they sped it right up for you, 10 weeks is a long time to be waiting.

LWWL2022 · 03/05/2022 10:26

I phoned this morning too and it's still with the dm our scan date was 18th Feb, it's been almost 11 weeks now I feel that only means it's going to be bad news.
