Hi All,

I have ASD 2 years old boy and i sent DLA form for him in 7 dec 2021. But I haven’t received any news yet. How long is usually you get awarded?

The thing is i want to put my son in 2 years old nursery but i’m not eligible for 2 years old funding. I found the nursery that i like and my son can start there after easter but they want funding from the government.

There are another way to get funded by government is via DLA. I need to get the DLA first then i can apply for funding 2 years old in nursery. Do you know how is the process for apply funding 2 years old through DLA route??

Thank you

RobynC19. It’s same like me . I have send mine one off 31 jan. Waiting for hear maybe next week .

Ltb17 · 07/04/2022 08:55

@Naomis121 mine was originally 1st December but silly me forgot to sign the declaration so it got sent back to me, so I've only added myself extra wait time 🤣 it's awful waiting so long especially when nothing might come from it

Beurre · 07/04/2022 09:31

Just spoke to DLA about application received on 17th January and was told they're waiting to issue a reference number for DS and that claim has likely been awarded. Is that common? Never heard of this.

Imitatingdory · 07/04/2022 09:42

Beurre A child reference number, which is the same as a NI number, is generated when parents claim child benefit. Those who have never claimed CB or haven’t claimed and opted out of payments don’t already have a child reference number/NI number so DC need one assigning when you apply for DLA.

I rang yesterday and was told
I should have a decision hopefully next week and I'm the 8 of feb new claim

Sarahroccorayne · 07/04/2022 10:30

I was told this morning it’s taking about a week for dm to make decision and they had mine Monday so he said should hear anytime soon

rghltifndn · 07/04/2022 10:30

I rang yesterday to double check the address to send some further evidence to and I was told that the time scale is around 9weeks for new claims. My daughter’s was scanned on 10th March.

Beurre · 07/04/2022 10:53

@Imitatingdory - we don't claim CB so that explains it, thanks. Does that mean our claim will take much longer to process?

an774 · 07/04/2022 11:11

I called about sending extra information today my sons claim was delivered 10th of March and I was told 12 weeks for his claim and new claims!

Imitatingdory · 07/04/2022 11:39

Beurre Sometimes it means claims take slightly longer but only in the sense DC need the child reference number/NI number allocating so it’s not a significant delay. In the scheme of things it’s relatively minor and nothing to worry about.

They must make these waiting times up then. 😩

Hi all. I have been dipping in and out of this thread since sending my new claim to the DLA people in February. I have spoken to them this morning and was told my son's claim is with the decision maker. She said it wouldn't be long now, and I see in a post above that it can be with them for a week? Does anyone know when you receive the payment if my son is awarded anything? Is it another few weeks? Will I need to wait for the letter first? I don't want to keep calling to check what their decision is but I also don't know how long is reasonable to wait. Thank you

Momof4boyos · 07/04/2022 12:21

May I ask when DLA received your son's claim?

Sarahroccorayne · 07/04/2022 12:25

Mines 1st feb been with dm since Monday I rang today and he said might get a txt might not or to wait to see if get payment if i don’t get any ring bk end off wk beginning of next to see what decision is

Momof4boyos · 07/04/2022 12:33

OK
My son's form was received by DLA on 17the February so a couple more weeks wait yet by the sounds of it.

kitamummy3 · 07/04/2022 12:48

Mine was the 8th of f feb when rang yesterday I was told they are on the 3/4 of feb so hopefully bye next week I will have my decision I think they are just telling everyone different things when they ring up but I got extra time added to mine because I forgot to sigh the declaration

Sueaxlbrick · 07/04/2022 13:56

Mine was received on the 4th February. I don't know how it works from here though, I think I will call mid next week for an update in case they can tell me over the phone.

Sarahroccorayne · 07/04/2022 14:25

Kitamummy3 I cant believe u forgot to sign it lol iv been following for a while and seen that u forgot you wud av a decision by now aswell 🤦‍♀️😂🙂

Sueaxlbrick · 07/04/2022 15:16

So, quick update, I've just received a text that says my child is entitled to DLA, I don't have to do anything, they will send me a letter. It doesn't say what he was awarded nor when he will receive his first payment. Has anyone else had this and what happened next timescale wise? Thank you

feg91 · 07/04/2022 15:43

@Sueaxlbrick that's great you have your deserved outcome. I'm 2nd so hopefully hear something soon. From other posts I think you get your backdated payment within a few days of the text but maybe someone who knows or already been awarded can confirm?

Has anyone else from Feb had an outcome?

Ltb17 · 07/04/2022 15:58

When I got the text I received backdated payment 3 days later but I did call then after I got the text to find out what his award was as I had to notify universal credit and didn't want to be told off for doing it late. They were so helpful explained the whole decision to me and all the future payment dates.

Sarahroccorayne · 07/04/2022 16:03

I’m the 1st n said it was with dm still I’m starting think it’s bad news if don’t receive a txt brains doing overtime 😩

Momof4boyos · 07/04/2022 16:37

Great news for you. Thanks for updating us.

Sueaxlbrick · 07/04/2022 16:40

Thank you. I'm going to call to ask what he has been awarded and then I'll let you know how long it is until I receive a payment so that others can have an idea of the timescales involved.
