Hi All,

I have ASD 2 years old boy and i sent DLA form for him in 7 dec 2021. But I haven’t received any news yet. How long is usually you get awarded?

The thing is i want to put my son in 2 years old nursery but i’m not eligible for 2 years old funding. I found the nursery that i like and my son can start there after easter but they want funding from the government.

There are another way to get funded by government is via DLA. I need to get the DLA first then i can apply for funding 2 years old in nursery. Do you know how is the process for apply funding 2 years old through DLA route??

Thank you

Technically I suppose it could have been classed as a new claim. Previous entitlement ran out in August and full on mum brain forgot to send the forms back for ages! Totally my own fault that we’ve waited so long!

Ltb17 · 29/03/2022 16:21

@Jadekaeli ah I see yes I think that would be new claim. I done a change of circumstances back in December, I called today and they received forms 16th December, got told its a 19 week wait we are looking at first week of May before we hear anything, almost 5 months

Mine is 17th January they received forms and we were told 18 weeks so mid may x

BerylSilverstone · 29/03/2022 17:06

@nercr my son’s claim is 17th Jan and I haven’t heard yet.

Ltb17 · 29/03/2022 17:12

I called this morning, the man I spoke to said every Monday they receive an email with updated time frames, he said as of yesterday its changed to 19 weeks, so the times change each Monday so could be different each week but he did say at the moment they seem to be getting worse rather than better, he said if we hadn't heard by first week of May to call again. Crazy wait times.

Liv555 · 29/03/2022 17:27

I’ve spoke to dla today to chase my claim received 27th jan and the lady said that they are looking at claims for this week dated 26th jan. 27th will be looked at next week but stated it’s taking around 10 weeks for a new claim. I think they make up dates 😂 either way I’d say another 4 weeks for me if that helps anyone in my situation x

Was that for change of circumstances?
Emzi89 · 29/03/2022 17:53

@Polly421 with UC did you wait for your award letter before telling them about dla? Please, thank you 😊

Ltb17 · 29/03/2022 17:59

Yeah that time frame is change of circumstances

Polly421 · 29/03/2022 18:28

@Emzi89 yeah I waited then did a change of circumstances under who lives with me as option next to daughter name to select she gets dla then submitted it. Then I sent a journal message asking for it to go to decision marker to have it backdated. Got it about a month later the backdated money.

I got declined for family fund today i rang and they said I didn't have enough evidence even though i sent what they asked for. I think the problem was that I only have things from nursery Ed psych senco and salt reports and a support plan but nothing from what he is like at home. I have ds first pead appointment on the 7th so going to wait for that and hopefully that will be enough evidence to appeal. Dla was recieved the 1st so will have enough time to send pead before it gets assessed

Emzi89 · 29/03/2022 19:19

@Polly421 thank you for replying :)
I will wait for my award letter, it only got awarded last Wednesday. Thanks again.

@Wilzo235 ah sorry to hear that you got denied. I didn't send anything that I had written about how she is at home I wonder if that will affect my claim.

Can I ask did you apply before you were accepted for dla? If you do receive dla can I ask what rate you are on? I only applied two weeks ago now so I know it's a long wait. I sent in school report and art therapy report I wonder if that will be enough as you seem to have sent alot more than me 😔

Dla forms where scanned on the 1st of march so I have a long wait yet. Family fund said I can appeal when I have his pead report as they can see he needs help but have only ticked two out of the 7 and you need 3 but think this is because of all his reports ect are school based and he is a lot better behaved at school and seems to cope well but have very noticeable delays in most area's

Hope you get a positive outcome from family fund and I'm not sure if you are still waiting for dla but that too Smile
