Hi All,

I have ASD 2 years old boy and i sent DLA form for him in 7 dec 2021. But I haven’t received any news yet. How long is usually you get awarded?

The thing is i want to put my son in 2 years old nursery but i’m not eligible for 2 years old funding. I found the nursery that i like and my son can start there after easter but they want funding from the government.

There are another way to get funded by government is via DLA. I need to get the DLA first then i can apply for funding 2 years old in nursery. Do you know how is the process for apply funding 2 years old through DLA route??

Thank you

Just incase people are still waiting for change of circumstances, I called today. After 21 weeks of waiting from the day they received the forms, they made a decision a few days ago and my daughter was awarded HRC and HRM. absolutely over the moon. Never expected it. Although they haven't back dated it from the day i asked for the forms? I requested them on the 24th of September and they received on the 22nd of October they said it wasn't within the month? I'm not sure whether to question it and chase it up or just leave it? Hoping everyone gets their answer soon.

I’d question it that’s a months payment owed to your daughter, glad she got what she deserves, my daughter was on receipt of HRC I put in for mobility and was awarded LRC which we are not happy about, I’m putting in a MR could I ask what evidence you sent off? As I’m gathering some more, we waited 19 weeks she’s since been seen by OT and more SALTs assessments so hoping them reports help

Amyxkx · 16/03/2022 16:11

Sorry LRM, so she’s gets HRC and LRM

I spoke to them, and they said because its a coc we only get back dated from the date the form was received, which is okay, just glad I checked. She was on mrc and no mobility as we last claimed when she was under 3. We actually didn't send any evidence, but I did write about 40 extra pages, and explained every single detail about her autism. I think she has been awarded HRM for her cognitive impairment and that's what we pushed. We told them about her blue badge etc and they she attends a special school. If there's anything else I can tell you, I'll be happy too 😊

Thank you for this, I think I should of wrote more about her day to day tbh, my daughter is 5 she’s non verbal and can not follow instructions, she also attends a SPS and has a lot do support within the school xx

Plowman11 · 16/03/2022 18:43

Yeah I would definitely write every little thing with as much detail as you can, it can feel like you are constantly repeating yourself with what you are writing, but I think it helps, and make sure you do it as her worst day. We explained we have to make sure there are 2 adults to take her out as her behaviour outside is dangerous and she will just walk out in front of cars etc I really hope you get the answer you need, I definitely feel like there needs to be more awareness around autism and the HRM xx
Imitatingdory · 16/03/2022 19:25

Amy have you looked at the Contact factsheet I linked to on the other thread? It helps you make sure you have covered all the points needed in order to be awarded HRM under the SMI rules or the virtually unable to walk criteria.

Sorry I feel like this will have already been answered but sent dd's claim in last week and haven't had acknowledgment they've received it. How long does that usually take?

Amyxkx · 17/03/2022 09:05

PuddlePip · 17/03/2022 11:37

@Imitatingdory could you please link the contact factsheet here aswell please? I'm going through the same process

Toritot1984 · 17/03/2022 11:55

I’ve just rang Dla and they said it’s with a case worker, my form was scanned 10th January he said possibly another week so it will be closer to 11 weeks waiting

Mum2gbg · 17/03/2022 12:02

@Toritot1984 how long were you waiting before the answered thinking of calling on my lunch break

Toritot1984 · 17/03/2022 12:03

Half an hour

kitamummy3 · 17/03/2022 13:41

I have bin waiting 12 weeks because they received my forms on the 13 of Jan but I forgot to sign the declaration so they received it back on the 8 of feb so I still got to wait another ten weeks for a decision what I fink is rong really it shouldn't take another ten weeks for them to make a decision because I forgot to sign it

Imitatingdory · 17/03/2022 16:53

Puddlepip this is Contact’s fact sheet for applying HRM for DC with ASD &/or LD.

Mum2gbg · 17/03/2022 17:15

Anyone had any update today

Plowman11 · 17/03/2022 17:49

@Mum2gbg no have u? @Imitatingdory do we have to tick something in order to qualify for HRM for autism?

Imitatingdory · 17/03/2022 18:15

Plowman You complete the DLA form as normal and DWP assess whether they believe DC qualifies for HRM, LRM or none as they would with any other application. The Contact guide explains the tests for HRM applied to applications for DC with ASD &/or LD, so you can tailor your application and evidence to meet all the necessary points.

Mum2gbg · 17/03/2022 18:35

@Plowman11 not today was told was with decision maker but nothing else

Plowman11 · 17/03/2022 18:39

@Mum2gbg what day was yours stamped? @Imitatingdory oh ok thank you yes I didn’t look at that prior I just filled it in I suppose we will see when it comes back
