Hi All,

I have ASD 2 years old boy and i sent DLA form for him in 7 dec 2021. But I haven’t received any news yet. How long is usually you get awarded?

The thing is i want to put my son in 2 years old nursery but i’m not eligible for 2 years old funding. I found the nursery that i like and my son can start there after easter but they want funding from the government.

There are another way to get funded by government is via DLA. I need to get the DLA first then i can apply for funding 2 years old in nursery. Do you know how is the process for apply funding 2 years old through DLA route??

Thank you

Just called this morning to give more information and was told me claim was already successful! I'm so shocked HRC and LRM until Dec 2023! I am so glad I applied now as I had no idea she would be entitled! My claim was scanned on the 21.12 for anyone around that date

@Jessicalou1992 my daughter gets high rate care and it’s about £402 extra a month for the disability element and around £163 added for carers element if you updated them that you are her carer. Once mines was reviewed it was added on to my next payment. I was advised by someone else in here to leave journal message to say once reviewed I would like my change to be sent to decision marker to authorise the backdated months, only took a few weeks.

Emzi89 · 08/03/2022 10:10

Same here. After reading a lot of the comments I don’t think I have wrote enough on the form. I filled the form for my two sons, one of them I had been diagnosed with ASD yesterday another one is waiting for appointment.I requested the form on 31st December was stamped to be returned 10feb, however I sent back they received on 11feb. I know I have long to wait but am so worried if o have filled the form well after reading here and am not sure if I have provided enough evidence 🤞

We only got then SEN support plan from the nursery after I sent the forms off and the letter off the doctors confirming referral to the HEO for help. Son is suspected of having ADHD but as he’s only 3 they won’t give official confirmation until he is at least 5. Major meltdowns - I’ve ended up with a black eye, multiple split lips when he has the meltdowns and he’s ended up in hospital under observation after them too due to giving himself massive bumps to the head. Refusing to sleep and staying up til 1 am in the morning no matter what we try. Refusing to eat, can’t be left alone with other kids as he will hurt them, it’s dangerous to walk with him as he will sit down in the middle of the road and refuse to move (also when in a harness and we have to physically pick him up and carry him out of the road - not an easy fit when you’re on your own and pushing a buggy along as well). I’m worried that with not sending any documents off it will be rejected, don’t know whether to send evidence off now or wait to see if a MR is needed and send it off then.

Sarahroccorayne · 08/03/2022 18:40

Only evidence I sent was diagnosis off cystic hygroma but that itself is not what most off his care needs are he’s waiting for an assessment for autism but because he’s so young I’m thinking I’m going to be refused as I don’t think iv explained enough

ScootScot · 08/03/2022 19:07

You could always write in and send more info. If you have no medical evidence, get a few statements completed by any teaching staff or healthcare professionals who can verify his additional needs and impact. Phone DLA to tell them you are in the process of sending in more info, and they’ll hold off on a decision until then.

Also, if case managers feel there is a lack of supporting evidence in your application, they can contact your gp or school etc for more info. If you think there’s someone else who they can call, phone DLA and pass along their contact details.

Sarahroccorayne · 08/03/2022 19:27

That’s actually really helpful thank you I will do that 🙂

Numsmet0 · 08/03/2022 19:49

I’m 23rd Dec here and I phoned today to be told it’s with the decision maker. Not sure how long it takes from there. My son has ADHD and ASD

Thank you so much. I think this will help as I didn’t write enough on the form, felling two forms was too much for me.
Toritot1984 · 09/03/2022 10:17

Anyone had any news today I’m past the 8 week mark and heard nothing

Mum2gbg · 09/03/2022 10:23

I haven't called today but I did yesterday and they said they were working on 31st Dec. Think it would be helpful to all if when they call we all put what date they are working on as think they tell some people one thing then others another it's so confusing

NRRK28 · 09/03/2022 11:31

Its my 13th week. And haven’t heard a think. They said in decision maker. Its been 3 weeks in decision maker 😅😅😅
