Hi All,

I have ASD 2 years old boy and i sent DLA form for him in 7 dec 2021. But I haven’t received any news yet. How long is usually you get awarded?

The thing is i want to put my son in 2 years old nursery but i’m not eligible for 2 years old funding. I found the nursery that i like and my son can start there after easter but they want funding from the government.

There are another way to get funded by government is via DLA. I need to get the DLA first then i can apply for funding 2 years old in nursery. Do you know how is the process for apply funding 2 years old through DLA route??

Thank you

Hi sorry to post, I sent my sons COC in Jan, stamped 12th and received letter last week stating that they are sorry for not receiving a response etc. I’m a bit worried as I read if child takes Melatonin for sleep they can reduce payments? I hope they don’t do this as my son is on HRC and LRM. He is awaiting diagnosis of ASD, ADHD, PDA, he has Hypermobility, sensory difficulties, toileting difficulties, speech and language, Mental Health difficulties. CAMHS, Complex Needs Nurse and Paeds Dr all advised me to go for HRM as he needs substantially more support than a child of his age (he is 6) he is currently home educated as school neglected his needs (huge complaints going in) EHC assessments have took place for an EHC plan and have only just got their reports, should I send these to DLA even though I sent loads of evidence in would this only prolong my wait or would it be worth sending them? I was really scared to go for HRM but professionals are telling me that he should be entitled even without diagnosis. They said DLA can contact them if needed too. Thanks in advance and sorry to just jump on the post.

Jessica sorry, the other figures are right but the carer’s element is £163.73. My fat fingers sorry.

Mumoftwo send the evidence, don’t rely of DWP contacting professionals because they don’t always especially at the moment with being so busy. Melatonin only changes the award if it means the child no longer needs care/supervision throughout the night.

Mum2Two91 · 06/03/2022 20:29

@Imitatingdory hi, ok thanks that’s made me less anxious as Melatonin hasn’t worked, where still getting up with him of a night and he also has night episodes which are being investigated for epileptic seizures. I’m going to send more evidence thank you.

Hi, for anyone who has applied for the new ‘Scottish DLA’ (Social Security Scotland Child Disability Payment) my new claim for DD was dealt with within 7 weeks. Application received second week of January. Able to apply online and submit documents/evidence via the online portal.

Communication from them is rather poor though. A text to acknowledge receipt of application and that’s it. However, I returned a missed phone call from them last week (they were just clarifying my address as recently moved) and got through to them within 1 minute. Much faster than the DWP however it’s a relatively new service so won’t have as many service users just yet until all current claimants are switched over.

I’ve just received a back payment this morning and worked out DD has been paid 7 weeks High rate care and low rate mobility. Hopefully will get a letter soon to confirm. Not sure if it is paid every month on a specific day or when regular payments will start.

Very pleased with the whole process and far less stressful and time consuming than when we applied for DLA years ago.

Hope everyone isn’t left waiting too much longer. And hope this post is useful for any new Scottish applicants.

I'm the 21.12 and still waiting. They called me on Thursday about my claim being sent after the date stamped on the form. She said hopefully I will hear back in the next 2 weeks.
Jessicalou1992 · 07/03/2022 12:25

Xandersmumma · 07/03/2022 12:51

Jessicalou1992 · 07/03/2022 14:42

Amyxkx · 07/03/2022 16:15

Not sure think they just random She got payment before anything when first applied x

Polly421 · 07/03/2022 17:15

@Jessicalou1992 we got the increase in our next universal credits payment and then received the backdated amount about 3 weeks after we notified them of DLA award as it had to be sent to decision marker to award it.

Whitewolfsuki · 07/03/2022 22:00

Mind did last Thursday, have you had a payment yet ??

Stressedmummy94 · 07/03/2022 22:02

@Jessicalou1992 can I ask with UC did they back date it to when your claim started? For example the same date as your DLA was backdated to? I’m waiting on a DLA decision for my son and if awarded will need to know what to do with my UC

Polly421 · 07/03/2022 22:24

@Stressedmummy94 mines was backdated to start of my daughter DLA award. When she was awarded DLA I updated our UC online to say she was awarded put in from when it award started did this as change of circumstances then left note on journal and asked it could be sent to decision maker to have it backdated to when award started. We got the increase on our next payment date and backdated money around 3 weeks after it was sent to decision maker.

rghltifndn · 08/03/2022 06:37

Can I join this thread? I just made an application for the first time for my DD yesterday. It took me forever to fill the form in.

In my head I am working on the principle that we may get a decision by summer. 🤞🏽

Jessicalou1992 · 08/03/2022 07:38

I don’t know I’m trying to find that information out myself. I was only awarded Wednesday have informed uc but they said it will be sorted when my change of circumstances is reviewed
He’s on high rate care low mobility not sure what I will get extra from uc

Amyxkx · 08/03/2022 08:35

Sorry can’t help with any UC stuff do they not have number you can call for info? Depending on work and how much you earn if you do u can get carers allowance with I think they will back date inline with DLA, I can’t get carers allowance unless I dropped my hours but We would be worse off xx

Amyxkx · 08/03/2022 08:36

Hard work them forms 😫 hopefully think will get better and your not waiting as long as we are now, good luck xx
