Hi All,

I have ASD 2 years old boy and i sent DLA form for him in 7 dec 2021. But I haven’t received any news yet. How long is usually you get awarded?

The thing is i want to put my son in 2 years old nursery but i’m not eligible for 2 years old funding. I found the nursery that i like and my son can start there after easter but they want funding from the government.

There are another way to get funded by government is via DLA. I need to get the DLA first then i can apply for funding 2 years old in nursery. Do you know how is the process for apply funding 2 years old through DLA route??

Thank you

@NRRK28

Received on the 3rd of December and hear nothing. I called and they said still in decision maker 😭😭
This is crazy I am struggling to understand their process because people who have sent after you have received a response at this point I feel it just depends who's desk it lands on as it must be that some dm must work quicker than others 🤦🏽‍♀️
Meganos · 03/03/2022 11:33

Yes, exactly! Mine was 10th December and still no decision.. It takes ages really

Hams12459 · 03/03/2022 11:46

Hi all I sent form back in early December I received the usual letter to confirm receipt of my form but today I received a letter dated 24th Feb saying we are sorry that we have not given you a decision yet we will deal with your claim as soon as possible don't worry you will not lose money we will write to you again as soon as we can . Has anyone had this letter also and or/ able to give any more info on wait times after this being received

J84b04j23 · 03/03/2022 14:05

It's been 19 week , I genuinely am fed up of ringing and getting fobbed off 🙈😂😂😂

Meganos · 03/03/2022 14:49

Just called them (I waited almost 40mins until someone answered) and still no decision.. I've been told I should get decision until the end of this week..

Sorry @Jessicalou1992 didn't mean to reply to your message with my question! 🤦🏽‍♀️

Meganos · 04/03/2022 12:29

I am on 12 weeks now and still no decision. Is anyone in the same situation to wait that long?

Emzi89 · 04/03/2022 12:50

@meganos I am 12 weeks today. I did ring last week and got told at least another 2 weeks so trying to be patient but failing 🙈😅

Meganos · 04/03/2022 13:46

Emzi89- I am 12 weeks today aswell, but to be honest my patience is running thin now.. I believe they got a deadline until 13weeks (3 months) that will be next Friday.

NaomiSS · 04/03/2022 14:22

@Emzi89 My stamped date was 15th December. I called earlier in the week and they told me would be close to 15 weeks that I would find out. However, I have had a text message about 30min a ago saying that qualify and I don’t need to contact them but they will send me another letter within the next 2 weeks. Of course I have no patience so I’m trying to get through to them now to find out what rate we have qualified for. I’m so relieved. Fingers crossed you all get to hear soon.

Jessicalou1992 · 04/03/2022 14:40

Is there anybody on here who could answer a few more questions in relation to dla and universal credit
I have just been awarded dated16th December high rate dla low rate care I have also informed universal credit they have informed me the disabled child element and careers can be backdated once verified Can anybody confirm how long this takes to get varified and how much it affects universal credit ?

Emzi89 · 04/03/2022 14:47

@NaomiSS congratulations on being awarded! I don't blame you being impatient I think it's ridiculous they don't tell you exactly what you've been awarded when they tell you you've been awarded!
🤞 I hear soon then too :)

@meganos we shall try and be patient together! Lol hope you hear something soon though. And thanks for the information I didn't know they only had 3 months to make a decision 🤷‍♀️

Meganos · 04/03/2022 15:20

On gov website it says dla decision should be made within 3 months. Of course it takes longer if theres a change of circumstances.

Imitatingdory · 04/03/2022 18:58

high rate dla low rate care

Jessica Do you mean high rate mobility and low rate care? Or low rate mobility, high rate care? As that significantly affects eligibility.

You will get a disabled child element of £128.89 if low or mid rate care or severely disabled child element of £402.41 if high rate care. And a carer’s element of £263.83 if mid or high rate care. If mid or high rate care and you have also applied for carer’s allowance that will be deducted £ for £.

How long it takes varies. Going forward it should be sorted this assessment period or next, but backdating may take longer.

Meganos I don’t think that is correct. The gov.uk website states you normally get a decision letter within 8 weeks. See here. However, that isn’t a statutory timescale and it hasn’t been the case for a long time. There are significant delays at the moment, which shows from so many waiting weeks and weeks longer.

Whitewolfsuki · 04/03/2022 22:35

I applied for my son, had a letter to say they recieved it on the 16th December, I did get a letter about 4 weeks ago saying it's still waiting to be looked at. I got a text yesterday afternoon saying that my son qualifies for DLA but not what rate or anything. Does anyone know when you get a payment once you receive the text from them ??

Jessicalou1992 · 04/03/2022 23:07

It’s high rate care
Low rate mobility

Jessicalou1992 · 04/03/2022 23:08

I haven’t bothered with careers allowance and don’t intend to as I am working part time so doesn’t make sense to. I thought the careers element of universal credit was around 160
