Hi All,

I have ASD 2 years old boy and i sent DLA form for him in 7 dec 2021. But I haven’t received any news yet. How long is usually you get awarded?

The thing is i want to put my son in 2 years old nursery but i’m not eligible for 2 years old funding. I found the nursery that i like and my son can start there after easter but they want funding from the government.

There are another way to get funded by government is via DLA. I need to get the DLA first then i can apply for funding 2 years old in nursery. Do you know how is the process for apply funding 2 years old through DLA route??

Thank you

Been lurking for ages l keeping an eye on what was happening, so hi everyone 👋! My new claim form was stamped on 15th Dec, i received a holding letter but apart from that I haven’t had any contact!
I phoned them this morning as it’s 11 weeks today and I have been told it might be another few weeks as they are taking up to 15 weeks. I thought that was only coc? They said they are hoping to have everything up to 12th December done by the end of the week and mine should be allocated soon.
Think my patience is starting to wear a little thin now!

Emzi89 · 02/03/2022 10:09

@NaomiSS my new claim was stamped 17th December, I rang last week and got told at least another 2 weeks too. I agree with you about fed up of waiting now too, hope you hear something soon 🤞

BerylSilverstone · 02/03/2022 10:11

Hi @NaomiSS I can’t believe how long it’s taking! I’ve got a long wait, 17th Jan 😂 but hopefully yours can’t be much longer at December 17th. I’ve applied twice before and both sorted within 4 weeks so don’t know what’s going on at the moment!

Amyxkx · 02/03/2022 10:12

Hi, yes COC was originally 16-17 weeks they they said the goal posts keeps moving seems the same with new claims, I’m on week 18 for coc, good luck x

NaomiSS · 02/03/2022 10:15

Fingers crossed we hear soon🤞 Will keep you all updated if I hear anymore.

NRRK28 · 02/03/2022 10:17

I just called them and still no decision! My claim was 10th December. Its been almost 12 weeks... I don't know what the heck is going on thereAngry

Ade88 · 02/03/2022 11:22

Just phoned and unfortunately we had an unsuccessful claim 😕 and now have to await the letter explaining further....

CoffeeFirstPlease · 02/03/2022 11:37

Goodness I feel like they have been working on the 12th for the past week and a half!

I'm 21st December so dare say it's going to be at least another 2 weeks minimum I don't know what is going on with them.

NRRK28 · 02/03/2022 12:54

@Ade88 is your child diagnosed? Why do you think its failed? I’m sorry to hear that.

My daughter has a diagnosis of perthes of the hip her left hip ball has completely fragmented amd broke away causing pain amd mobility issues I sent off ehcp diagnosis letters from orphapedic amd trauma consults who she will see till 15yrs old...she's had 1 surgery may need more in the future has physio therapist special aids at school and at home which I provided proof of walks with aids etc already has a blie badge gramted from locall council..but it was denied....feel a bit gutted not going to lie its completely changed her life and it feels like someone saying different 😑

Ade88 · 02/03/2022 13:00

Perthes is a rare hip disease aswell so I feel a bit lost as to who to turn to or ask for advice or help going forward as we are just at the start of her journey all frustrating 😔

Imitatingdory · 02/03/2022 13:08

Ade do ask for a mandatory reconsideration and appeal if necessary. Have you looked at the Cerebra guide? How old is DD? Don’t worry so much about the diagnosis being rare as DLA is based on needs rather than diagnosis so focus on evidencing DD’s needs rather than providing information on Perthes disease in general.

Ade88 · 02/03/2022 13:12

I do plan on asking for a reconsideration amd speaking to our Dr who knows my daughter well to possibly write a letter alongside.....like most of us mums with children that have extra needs we get on with it and maybe I didn't emphasise enough on her daily needs but it really has impacted her life, the last 6 months she's gone from being cometely independent to me dressing bathing her she can't walk un aided etc pain management daily...thankyou for your help!

Ade88 · 02/03/2022 13:12

Also I haven't looked at the cerebra guide should I just Google this?

Ade88 · 02/03/2022 13:13

7 years old also 😀

Imitatingdory · 02/03/2022 13:17

Ade it is often about how you word the forms. Sometimes parents don’t word things how the DWP want and that means the claim is rejected. I bet you do things you don’t even realise count too. The Cerebra guide is very helpful, it is here.

Ade88 · 02/03/2022 13:25

Thankyou so much I really appreciate it I will have a read through!

Needanewadventure2021 · 02/03/2022 21:38

I'm shocked to read these wait times. My DS application was received on Monday. I will just need to shut it off now as it seems we won't hear back now until possibly June or July

Toritot1984 · 03/03/2022 09:37

My form was received 10th January but I’m not expecting to hear from them till April

kitamummy3 · 03/03/2022 10:12

Reyma · 03/03/2022 10:45

Same, I don’t know why it has to take this long?! mine was received on 11th Feb. May be I will hear them in June or July.

kitamummy3 · 03/03/2022 10:52

@Reyma did you forget to sign the declaration aswell

NRRK28 · 03/03/2022 10:58
