@Lhmym
I was granted it on Saturday it would be 8 weeks today so was granted at just over 7 weeks the letter I received today must of been sent before my claim being approved x

Furbymc88 · 19/08/2021 11:32

I find it amazing that some claims are dealt with at 8 weeks when we just waited 17 weeks and didn’t once receive any communication to apologise for the delay

Mumof2girlys · 19/08/2021 11:42

My 8 weeks is up tomorrow still nothing, can't help but feel it will be a decline x

Lhmym · 19/08/2021 11:50

@Alk19 it’s just that feeling of waiting and then thay reject it my son form as not even been looked at yet can not see them making a decision by the 8 week point at the rate there going at min I asked if thay had contacted any one thay said no it’s not been looked at I did send is echp iep and educational pycoligist reports and all apps from Cahams and school written on form for people whom know him best he even gets funding in school he’s in so that he’s not being excluded or suspended

Lhmym · 19/08/2021 11:53

Did also state that he’s not aloud to be left unsupervised with is younger brother due to is complex needs it got to a point we had to move from our 2 bed flat to a 3 bed house as he wasn’t aloud to share a room due to is unpredictable behavioural issues but knowing dla prob say it’s normal for a 14 year old

Alk19 · 19/08/2021 12:00

@Lhmym I completely understand your frustration I think it really depends on who's desk it lands on I wouldn't worry as your evidence sounds a lot for them to decline.
I worried my son wouldn't get it as he's only just turned 2 in April but was a relief I only sent his paediatrician report and SALT report and my health visitor filled the form in x

Alk19 · 19/08/2021 12:02

I dont know wether it made any difference but I did also send everything recorded and signed for so I knew they had it all

Mumof2girlys · 19/08/2021 12:02

I'm sure you will definitely be awarded given what you have said, can I ask are you with the council in the 3 bed as basically I'm private renting a 3 bed due to the same my youngest doesn't sleep and will attack her older sister ECT, my landlord selling up so being evicted trying to fight for a 3 bed with the council as only entitled to a 2, have so much going on at the moment I suffer with mental health and everything it's really getting me so anxious x

Daisydoo5 · 19/08/2021 12:05

Im still waiting mines been 8 weeks Monday 😪 I might phone tomorrow morning and ask what the sketch is with the 8 weeks waiting. I'm thinking the evidence I sent wasn't enough even thou a report of paediatrics states he has dd and has maturity of a 3 year old hes 8. His behaviour is unpredictable and always lashes out. Bedtime is a nightmare because he isn't trained on bedtime, so always fighting him to put a pull up on, change him 2 to 3 times because he leaks. Then I have put baby monitors in his room because he's a sleep walker and turn my cooker on once and let himself out the house! Ive fighted for 2 years to get him the help he needs, just seems like the decision maker isn't even medical trained and doesn't no how hard us moms have it with additional needs 😔 hes also awaiting diagnosis

Lhmym · 19/08/2021 12:30

@mumof2girlys hi yes it’s council mine was a management move I’m with same housing association who I had my flat with I had to keep biding on property it took ages I had to get my mp involved to get the housing to provide housing if your being evicted as thay have a care of duty as you have children do you have like housing place near by your local council will know we’re it is take in the eviction notice to council at first it could be a hostel thay give you while you bid plus if he’s selling it’s classed as homeless due to landlord selling if it was were you made your self evicted ie non payment of rent thay won’t take people on at housing thay class that as intentionally homeless but in your case he’s selling so the council have a care of duty look at the situation cos housing put us in low banding for the needs we had he’s support worker and Cahams did letters for us am sure if

Lhmym · 19/08/2021 12:31

Don’t no we’re the word sure if come from daft iPhone Grin

Lhmym · 19/08/2021 12:35

@Daisydoo5 I totally agree with you like I said how can thay say 8 weeks if it’s not even been looked at these dwp lot should come spend a week or even a night at our houses and then see if it’s just what a child does like I stated does every 14 year old have attachment disorder does every 14 year old have to have transport to school via sen no cos most 14 year olds I see can go on buses god am on a right rant please ignore me lol

Daisydoo5 · 19/08/2021 12:49

Its so frustrating! So your in the right to rant. Ive been the same this week, especially when you phone for an update and waiting over an hour on the phone to be put thru to a snotty cow 😂 my 8 year also has attachments but he's becomes obsessive extremely bad. He also punches, pinches and head bangs himself when he gets really frustrated which is most days. But if people would look at him he looks like any other child until he open his mouth 😬 But all his family and friends are used to him, im definitely ringing them tomorrow at 9 ive already phoned twice this week 😂 Hope you get everything sorted for your son 🙏

Daisydoo5 · 19/08/2021 12:54

Cant help it my phoning them again 😂 ill keep you posted! Wish me luck 🙏 😅 xx

I'm in a 3 bed house I got I through a house swap and I have to pay bedroom tax as they say I have an extra room as both my boys can share they can't due you youngest autism and pica no danger awareness ect so both rooms are occupied I've challenged it to the housing and it looks promising at the moment I only sent them the same reports dla had and granted him dla for hope this helps x
Lhmym · 19/08/2021 13:12

@alk19 if your on universal credit and your child is awarded dla your exempt from bedroom tax I have to pay it to £50 a week on top of rent

Lhmym · 19/08/2021 13:16

I was speaking to universal credit when I got this house I said why do I have to pay the bedroom tax it’s been put in a risk assessment from my son support worker he can not share he said is the child on dla I said am in process of making a claim he said if your awarded it for him then you don’t have to pay bedroom tax thay tell me I have a spare room even tho I get pip my self I said then on that grounds I should be not paying it he said no only if the person on the dla needs there own room due to there illness disability hope that helps

Lhmym · 19/08/2021 13:18

@Daisydoo5 I no I couldn’t help it I rang today he said you called on Monday and it’s still same from when u called then he said it’s only been 7 and half weeks and claims are taking 8 a said so your telling me it be delt with Tuesday as thay 8 week he said I don’t no as it’s not been looked at then why say 8 weeks if you ain’t looked at it 🤔

Edsgirl · 19/08/2021 13:29

Applied for forms on the 3rd of June, registered on the system 13th July, phoned this morning was told by a lovely lady, claims are taking 8/12 weeks, so a few more weeks or maybe months for me. X

Alk19 · 19/08/2021 13:33

@Lhmym
Yes I was told the same by my Sen health worker but when I ranghousing they said it's based on the evidence I've provided but I think it should be approved just a waiting game now thanks for your advice I will be chasing it up x

Gemlouise1989 · 19/08/2021 13:35

I sent my child dla form off 2 and half weeks ago, should i of recived text or letter confirming they have recived? Thanks

Edsgirl · 19/08/2021 13:37

I've never heard a thing from them, no text or letter, I've had to phone for updates. X

Daisydoo5 · 19/08/2021 13:46

Ive just got thru and spoken to a lovely lady. She told me not to worry because its at the final step with the decision maker and I should hear the end of the week because been on 8 weeks 🤞 I did ask if I would receive a text message and she told me no they only normally sent them when they received the forms or if they need further information? So doubt I'll hear this week if they don't sent text messages heard you don't normally receive letter up to 2 weeks after 🤦‍♀️ ill properly call back mid next week xx

10brokengreenbottles · 19/08/2021 13:50

Being in receipt of DLA for your child doesn't automatically make you exempt for the bedroom tax. Your child needs to be in receipt of MRC or HRC, and it needs to be accepted you need an additional bedroom because your DC can't share due to their disability. Not every child in receipt of DLA falls into this criteria. See this link. However, you will be exempt from the benefits cap.

  • I got a letter 3 weeks after they received it, but only after I called (and was on hold for an hour) and asked it they'd received it! I sent it on the 3rd July and they are saying they received on the 22nd of July which adds to the wait!
