I posted my DLA application and it was delivered on 6th September by special delivery next day. How long should I leave it before I call to check if they have received the application ? Thank you

Also my daughters renewal took 16 weeks as well but she’s now been awarded DLA until her 16th birthday and she’s 7. Hope this helps x

Ems1991 · 07/09/2021 22:18

@10brokenbottles thank you x @ mumof5babies give them a call in a few days your over the 8 weeks so it's not unreasonably for you to phone and ask for a timeline of the claim they do say check after 8 weeks so I would phone them I'm waiting on a letter from pediatrician as ariahs been given medication that will affect my claim so I'm holding off chasing mines just now but you should do so x

Ems1991 · 07/09/2021 22:22

They normally say 8 weeks from the day they recieve it but I would check within 2 weeks that it has been updated on there system you should receive a letter of acknowledgement after that then its 8 weeks from the date received although can take longer up to 9 -10 weeks for award at moment x @mamaoffour21

MamaofFour21 · 07/09/2021 23:00

Thank you for your reply @Ems1991 I will call in approximately 2 weeks to ensure they have it on their system.

@MyDcAreMarvel , I rang DLA on Friday and my claim is now on the final steps. He said no later than the 27th September. He said I'll most likely have a backdated cash amount in my bank before a letter arrives. However my son has yet again been expelled for a few days from mainstream school for his meltdown. Saving on taxi fare

Suzysusie30 · 08/09/2021 01:17

@10brokengreenbottles . My son is in mainstream school and it's just under 1 mile from my house . We don't fit the criteria for paid transport. The system is so wrong even though my son been diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, anxiety, sleeping issues, sensory . The LA are still refusing a special needs school for him. I've been fighting his corner since year 2 he is now year 5. He isn't allowed to play out at break times with his friends. He goes out after they all come in with a teacher to play football. The impact this has on his anxiety often causes a meltdown and he ends up attacking the teacher by kicking, punching. Then he will be expelled for a few days. I don't know where to turn anymore, even home help and autism outreach and social worker have not helped in getting him out of mainstream school. Seriously thinking of getting a solicitor to help me fight for a school where my son can thrive and be happy....

Lraf1234 · 08/09/2021 08:23

Hi I received my sons back payment today (new claim) will he receive it every 4 weeks from today? Or will it be 4 weeks from when the decision was made? Thanks

Mummyof3boz · 08/09/2021 09:02

@Lap871 when did u send ur forms in x

Ems1991 · 08/09/2021 09:11

@lraf1234 it does say 4 weeks from your last payment so even although it's backdated money I'm sure I will go from today if the form doesn't state clearly phone and double check as it is your first payment x

Alk19 · 08/09/2021 09:18

@Lraf1234 it will be 4 weeks from today as it's Wednesday it's paid x

Nmhx · 08/09/2021 09:21

Covering letter and supporting evidence received and scanned in yesterday. Apparently can take up to 4 weeks for a reconsideration so just have to wait.

Nmhx · 08/09/2021 09:21

Wait again that is 😩😩

Twopetals · 08/09/2021 09:58

Hi ladies, I asked for forms 14th June, they received them 15th July! Know this from a letter they sent on the 26th july….rang today 8th September to be told it ain’t even reached decision makers yet and I should back towards the end of September 😳 anyone else in the same time frame as me? Have a feeling it’s going to be rejected as I’m absolutely rubbishing at explaining anything 😔

10brokengreenbottles · 08/09/2021 10:00

Suzy if DC can't reasonably be expected to walk to school due to their disability then you are entitled to transport, regardless of distance. Where SEN Is involved there is no statutory walking distance. See here. SENTAS can help you appeal if transport has been refused.

Does DS have an EHCP? Have you appealed for a SS? You don't need a solicitor, unless of course it want one. Do you have formal exclusion paperwork?

Child DLA is paid on a Tuesday. See here. It is adult DLA that is paid on a Wednesday.

Alk19 · 08/09/2021 10:10

@10brokengreenbottles
Oh god knows then they told me it be every 4 weeks from the day I received back payment which was a Wednesday guess I'll wait and see as it's due next week

Ems1991 · 08/09/2021 10:42

@alk19 I'm sure that all new claim are paid on a Wednesday with dla I'm sure it say it when your call through its only old claim that are paid on a Tuesday i think that's what it says x

Ems1991 · 08/09/2021 10:50

@alk19 it is Wednesday I'm on phone just now and it just said future claims will be paid on a Wednesday x

Mumof5babies · 08/09/2021 10:53

I just called for an update they made a decision on the 6th sept he will get high rate and low mobility quite shocked i was expecting refusal awarded till 2027 too. Not had a text or anything either so might be worth ringing up. They got his forms on the 8th of july and awarded from the 2nd of june. Good luck everyone xx

Ems1991 · 08/09/2021 10:59

@mumof5babies that's amazing news so happy for you ❤ you'll be over the moon it's been a long wait some weight of the shoulders at last ,😃x

Mumof5babies · 08/09/2021 11:05

I know hun. I feel for anyone going through all of this. It was hard enough filling forms in but the wait is excruciating. Luckily i won't have to fill anything in now till he reaches 16 and has to change over. Hope everyone gets good news soon 🤞xx

Alk19 · 08/09/2021 11:11

@Ems1991
I thought I weren't hearing things haha Thanks for confirmation X

Masonj377 · 08/09/2021 11:31

Hi

I sent my daughters first claim form which was received by DWP on 28/06. The entire form was returned to me a week later as I hadn’t signed a declaration form. This was an error on their behalf as I had indeed signed the declaration- I highlighted this in a covering letter and returned it to them

I then received a letter to say my claim had been received on 5th July and to allow approx 8 weeks to be processed.
I then had a letter dated 22 Aug apologising for the delay etc

It was 9 weeks on Monday since (5th July) but would have been 10 weeks had they not incorrectly returned my form.

I called DLA helpline on Mon and was told was in a queue and not yet with DM, no timescales given etc. I just wondered when would be a good time to chase it up next - I don’t want to ring too soon and be a nuisance but I really would just like to know.
Would appreciate your thoughts ? 😊

Mummyof3boz · 08/09/2021 11:49

@Twopetals it’s so frustrating having to wait so long.. I’m the same time as u with sending forms away and them receiving them I’ve had nothing from them apart from when they got my forms I don’t know if this is a good thing or bad I phone on Monday told me they were still looking at it and could expect up to 12weeks I really hope not and I hope it’s not refused after waiting so long.x

Ems1991 · 08/09/2021 11:54

@mumof5babies fingers crossed honestly I'm just happy to hear some good news in away we are all leaning on each other for help with things so it good to see people been accepted we are all going through similar thing day to day and these chat do actual help 😀xx @masonj377 I would call them today and then on Friday last Friday they where working on claims from the 3rd of July so no harm in calling them every few days just tell them your over 9 weeks and want an update x

Mumof5babies · 08/09/2021 11:54

Mine was received 7th july i was told 8 to 12 weeks i rang monday and was told was with a DM rang this morning and decision was made monday. Not had a text or anything though yet don't know how long texts take to come through. I'd just call and ask for an update x
