My son got rejected last year, so fir example, in meltdown he has run into the road screaming he wants to die or can just be impulsive and go into road ect, they said all children under 12 need supervision near roads 😒 i sent his discharge papers from when he tryed to suffocate himself and they still no evidence he needs extra supervision as all children his age need supervision! i am re-applying with more evidence from proffesionals who have stated in there letters he needs more supervision and support than children his age, and i sent in pictures of his self harm.
Im not feeling much more hopfull for this time, but im a single parent his out of school so i cant work, but because i cant claim careers without dla, Universal credit need me spending 24hrs looking for work/working. I am feeling so stressed 😔

Mumof5babies · 06/09/2021 22:21

Fingers crossed for you hun. X

It differs CCG to CCG and also different practices within a CCG, some will do it via the phone and others have a form you complete.

Gem if you are turned down ask for a mandatory reconsideration and then appeal if necessary. Does DS have an EHCP or equivalent if you are in Wales, Scotland or NI? Separately to that, if DS is unable to attend school due to his health, including mental health, or SEN the LA have a statutory duty to provide education, if they won't you can force them to by beginning legal proceedings (the precise process differs depending on what country you are in).

Gemlouise1989 · 07/09/2021 06:13

The school provide him work at home, and he has a part time timetable which the school send off to the LA, although the school do home visits rather than he goes to them.
The school are going to start ECHP process this term as they feel he needs SEN school.

Mumof5babies · 07/09/2021 13:50

Mumof5babies · 07/09/2021 17:03

Im at 9 weeks on Thursday i hate ringing for updates feel like a pest I've only had 1 letter to say sorry a decision hasn't been made yet dated 25th august

Ems1991 · 07/09/2021 17:25

@mumof5babies I feel like a pest so what I do now is ask them questions about when my claims backdated to and ask them if they need anything else any excuse I can use I will 🤣x

Mumof5babies · 07/09/2021 17:30

Lmao. I called to make sure all extra info I'd sent was on his claim hospital rang me 22nd with his first diagnosis sent all that off now awaiting blood tests and bladder/bowel specialist. I asked for an update and she said its with DM now so shouldn't be too long however I've seen people waiting for weeks still 👀. How long have you been waiting now? X

10brokengreenbottles · 07/09/2021 20:47

Gem unless short term aimed at reintegration, which doesn't does the case for you, part time timetables are unlawful exclusions and illegal, whether parents agree to it or not. The LA should be providing DS with a full time education - depending on DS's needs that could be home tutoring, online, hospital school, small group tuition.

Don't wait for the school to apply for an EHCP, you can apply yourself now, IPSEA have a model letter you can use.

Mumof5babies · 07/09/2021 21:15

Whats the dla app? Can you check online?

Ems1991 · 07/09/2021 21:28

@mumof5babies I'm only at 8 weeks tomorrow so I will have a good 2 weeks to go by what I'm seeing x

Ems1991 · 07/09/2021 21:33

@10brokengreenbottles my hours where cut to 1.5 hour in nursery for ariah it was a two years placement but I was told its up to the nursery that decide what hours they give the child she back up to slightly normal now she hasn't to be drop off later and picked up earlier now but my argument was they where getting funded for more hour and ariah wasn't receiving them eventually got it sorted but I'm actually scared to send her in now case she has a bad day and the cut them again

Ems1991 · 07/09/2021 21:35

@Mumof5babies

Whats the dla app? Can you check online?
I think they meant DLA application
10brokengreenbottles · 07/09/2021 21:58

Em I was posting in response to Gem whose DS is older. The LA's statutory duty only applies to CSA pupils.

For nursery aged pupils, in Scotland, as stated previously, you need to apply for a CSP and then the LA are responsible for ensuring the provision within it is provided. There are specialist nurseries and mainstream nurseries with specialist places that can be named in them if necessary. It is also possible for LAs to give a specialist nursery placement while assessments are untaken.

Private nurseries are free to do as they wish as long as they stay within the Equality Act. There are more rules surrounding state nurseries, but there isn't enough information here to give advice. If you want more specific information you would be better starting a separate thread. As I posted previously, don't automatically trust what the LA tell you check it with someone like Enquire, the LA will tell you what they want you to know and their version of the law.

Mumof5babies · 07/09/2021 22:04

Fingers crossed you hear something soon seems to take forever. I don't know when to call again the longer i don't hear anything the more I'm expecting a letter of refusal. Shame you don't get a message either way. Good luck hun 🤞x

CubbyNCo · 07/09/2021 22:10

“App” as in our paper DLA application. Sorry to cause confusion. Blame my American upbringing lol Blush
