@Ems1991 you need a dla claim for family fund they ask what care you are receiving for the child to continue the application I tried to do one before my dla claim was processed and it wouldn't let me Hmm x

Alk19 · 04/09/2021 22:23

@Gemconks sorry tagged the wrong person @Ems1991 you need a dla claim for family fund they ask what care you are receiving for the child to continue the application I tried to do one before my dla claim was processed and it wouldn't let me x

You don't need to be in receipt of DLA to get a Family Fund grant. The form asks if you get DLA/PIP, haven't applied, are waiting for a decision or have been refused but they have their own assessment criteria. Also, not all children eligible for DLA will be eligible for Family Fund. These are the child eligibility criteria. If you were refused it wasn't because of a lack of DLA.

Ems1991 · 04/09/2021 23:47

@Alk19 you should try applying again because I just sent in all the proof I gathered for dla I'm still awaiting it will properly be about 4 weeks I will let you know if I get it I asked for sensory equipment to calm my daughter down she frequently hurts herself and cry a lot and I have to spend a lot of time calming her she non verbal so communication in anyway can be hard just now she doesn't point or give indication yet so I'm hoping I get approved to get some soothing thing for her I will give you a update when I hear back though just click awaiting dla decision when applying that's what I done I'm not sure I will be approved yet but thought I would try anyway🙂x@10brokengreenbottles I actually thought I couldn't get it to start with aswell I actually phone them to double check because the way it's laid out I was a bit confused and thought the same as @alk19 it does look like you do need it to start with we are all new to this so I think in time we'll begin to know what help we can get and can't everyday is a learning day for me anyway I applied 6 weeks ago so will keep use informed

Ems1991 · 04/09/2021 23:56

@Gemconks no problem 🤞

Alk19 · 04/09/2021 23:59

@Ems1991 yeah I've applied now but I didn't before I got my dla approved for some reason it just wouldn't let me continue the application my son is just like your little one no communication either very hard to communicate ect we are all nee to this and some information is misleading I think I did my application around 3-4 weeks ago I know there taking up to 10 weeks at the minute but fingers crossed for you x

Alk19 · 05/09/2021 00:01

@10brokengreenbottles
I wasn't refused it I just couldn't continue my application because it would only let me put yes or no and at the time I didn't know my SEN said it would be better to wait for dla before trying that which I did then was successful in doing the application

Ems1991 · 05/09/2021 00:09

@alk19 that's great news 😀 and thank you finger crossed for you 2 🤞🤞and if I never phoned them honestly I would have waited to see about dla first everything has complicated applications form and honestly my application filling skills aren't the best I was tempted to write a letter with my dla saying please excuse my handwriting after 8 hours of writing my wrist has given up if you can't understand please call me but I though proberly shouldn't 😂 x

10brokengreenbottles · 05/09/2021 00:11

You were wrongly advised as you don't need to be in receipt of DLA to be eligible for a grant, they have their own assessment criteria. I don't know what the online application form asks as we aren't eligible due to income but the paper copy allows you to tick haven't applied, waiting to hear or refused. Perhaps you should have contacted them.

10brokengreenbottles · 05/09/2021 00:12

Ems in future you could type your answers.

Alk19 · 05/09/2021 00:17

@10brokengreenbottles well I've done it now so all is good I had to wait for his peads reports anyway so didn't make a difference I was only advised to wait for all evidence I just assumed dla would be one of them and I don't know maybe was the systems down or something just wouldn't let me click continue

Alk19 · 05/09/2021 00:18

@Ems1991 oh I feel your pain I was the same!! It took me a good few days to complete it I couldn't do it all at once hahaha! X

Alk19 · 05/09/2021 00:20

@Ems1991 I mean not everyone has access to computers especially in circumstances we've been living in I personally have a laptop just no printer so good old fashioned pen and paper had to do haha X

Ems1991 · 05/09/2021 09:22

@alk19 typing would have just took as long and the pain would have been in my fingers instead of wrist 😂 I should have done over a few days but I had a day to myself and decided I would start it and ended up hyperfocused on it I was determined to get it finished I don't know if it was just me but I felt like I was rewriting the same things a lot x

Alk19 · 05/09/2021 09:31

@Ems1991 No your not the only one think its all abit daunting ain't it just happy for it to be sorted that's the main thing the pain payed of haha x

Hi guys I’m back after a nightmare with DLA.
You guys were correct the claim was rejected wholly on the fact “no supporting evidence” which is barbaric to me considering evidence isn’t mandatory.
But I’ve spent the past week getting things in writing from the nursery & GP.
Can you believe after I’d written my 3 year old wakes regularly every night and has never slept through the night. Requires constant supervision whilst wake as can cause harm to himself and takes up to 2 hrs to fall back off to sleep. The response was “it’s not uncommon for children of this age to wake at night and requires soothing back to sleep.”
Hahaha I wish I could soothe him back to sleep and not have to keep asking him to get back in the bed and stop rolling around on the bedroom floor at 3am. I wish it was that blooming easy.
Cheeky sods!

PeppaPigPocoyo · 06/09/2021 09:19

So just got off the phone with DLA as they told me to call in today to see if I have a decision as it’s been over 8 weeks... they asked me to confirm my bank sort code this time during security question so not sure what that means?? But anyway, the guy I spoke said it’s with the decision maker still and it has a ‘0 hours’ till decision can be made on the system, which he said means they should be looking at it now. He said he will flag it up on the system as ‘needs to be looked at urgently’ as it’s been over 8 weeks, and he said that should push it up the decision makers case load, and that he thinks it should be done within 3 more days. So nervous, I’m so convinced it’ll be rejected after all this time 😞

Supermomsof4 · 06/09/2021 09:43

@PeppaPigPocoyo When i called and was asked to confirm for my bank details it's was because it's was accepted ! Don't loose hope call them tomorrow i’m sure you. will hear a positive news

Mumof5babies · 06/09/2021 09:44

I've a feeling my sons will be rejected its been nearly 9 weeks now all I've had is a sorry we've not made a decision yet dated 25th last month 😏. Either way hope everyone gets to hear something soon had ours since july 8th xx

Tfutcher · 06/09/2021 09:44

Mine was processed on the 6th July.
I just rang them up and they have declined it. Will be fighting this but thought I would let you know

Mumof5babies · 06/09/2021 09:45

They've asked me to confirm bank details twice its security check i think to make sure you are who you say

Jaxkatie · 06/09/2021 09:53

Just phoned and my sons has been declined so will need to appeal it

Mumof5babies · 06/09/2021 09:55

Have either of you ladies sent evidence or anything in? I don't want to ring for an update now with these declines coming through 😔

Tfutcher · 06/09/2021 09:59

I sent evidence that he has been referred for adhd and also the Connor form for adhd from the school, showing that he has issues at school with attention etc. Also stuff from the inconvenience clinic. They came back saying that his needs are different from a normal five year old.
If he is not watched he will wee & pop everywhere, he will attack his siblings and us in rage. Is on the move constantly from 5am and wakes during the nights in meltdown. Is this normal for a 5 year old? Xx

Tfutcher · 06/09/2021 10:01
  • No different. I have an older son who gets dla for autism and his cares needs are Nowhere as bad as my 5yr olds
