@Mummy2boys1520 you aren’t getting penalised, only the dm can backdate that’s just the standard process. It’s goes to a dm to decide if the reason for reporting late is a valid one and yours is.

Mummy2boys1520 · 03/09/2021 11:01

@MyDcAreMarvel the lady I spoke to said that they don't normally pay the back date as you reported it on the 26th august but like I explained to her that was the day I got the decision and she said she knows but that's just how the system works and it's with the person who will decide but she doesn't think they will backdate which I think is ridiculous because how can we tell them sooner if it take 8weeks for DLA to decide in the first place

Edsgirl speak to Enquire, they can help. They also have lots of helpful advice on their website. The local authority has a statutory duty to provide education to those unable to attend school due to their MH or SEN needs - Enquire have further information about this on their website, and how you can enforce the law if the provision is not forthcoming. They also have advice on applying for a CSP and securing a SS placement.

Mummy2boys in order for things such as carer's allowance and disability elements to be backdated you have to claim/notify them within 1 month of being awarded DLA. Send them a photograph of the DLA award letter showing the date they wrote to you.

Ems1991 · 03/09/2021 12:43

I would ask them about careers allowance aswell because of career is backdated will the take money of your uc from the time that's awarded 🤔I would definitely argue your point as it states if you notify them straight away then there show be no reason It can't... it state on there website x @mummy2boys1520

Mumof5babies · 03/09/2021 13:43

I just called them to see if new info had been put on the system which it has its. 8 weeks yesterday they've had it for and its now been allocated to someone. They guy was lovely said its shouldn't be too much longer but we'll wait and see 🤞

Mummy2boys1520 · 03/09/2021 13:54

@Ems1991 It's pointless me applying for carers as they pretty much take all of it back of you in universal credits so I'm just sticking to the disability element on there but I'm just hoping they do back date it

Alk19 · 03/09/2021 14:03

@Mummy2boys1520
I told them weeks ago still not heard anything g yet but got my bedroom tax scrapped they said it's with decision maker but you can get carers element on universal credit as well as disability element x

Alk19 · 03/09/2021 14:06

@Mummy2boys1520 I do think it depends on who it goes to as my friend got all hers backdated but I know some who haven't it's ridiculous x

Mummy2boys1520 · 03/09/2021 14:10

@Alk19 it really is ridiculous they should backdate it if we are awarded it as it isn't our fault we can't tell them sooner nobody even told me I had to request the backdate I only found out because I called them to see why I did have the disability in with this month payment and that when I found out

Mummy2boys1520 · 03/09/2021 14:16

@Alk19 when did you tell them about yours

Alk19 · 03/09/2021 14:16

@Mummy2boys1520 I requested it a few weeks ago as soon as I got my award I've still not heard anything apparently it's with a decision maker but you can't apply for the disability and carers element on uc without having evidence which confuses me cause if they awarded it then dla rejected our claim we'd be in debt with uc it's a joke

Mummy2boys1520 · 03/09/2021 14:19

@Alk19 oh god so I could be waiting ages for them to back date it then. Apparently they will be putting the disability in from my next pay October but as for it being backdated they said it's been sent to the decision maker to explain why I did tell them sooner and I said what you said how could I if I only was told it was awarded on the 24th of august that isn't my fault I don't understand why they can't automatically back date it once you prove you've been awarded it

Alk19 · 03/09/2021 14:23

@Mummy2boys1520 16th august I told them I was awarded dla on the 14th but was a Saturday so told them the day they opened on the Monday that's when I requested for my bedroom tax to be scrapped as well and they did that within 3 days but still waiting on the disability and carers element to be dealt with.
They also asked me if I wanted my bedroom tax backdated which I thought was weird

Mummy2boys1520 · 03/09/2021 14:24

@Alk19 least they asked you, I've not applied for the carers one as they pretty much will take it off you due to the way the systems works so didn't see the point. I hope you here soon it's just so stupid the way they work

Alk19 · 03/09/2021 14:29

@Mummy2boys1520 no that's carers allowance that's taken £ for £ universal credit do a carers element which you should apply for which doesn't reduce your money x

Alk19 · 03/09/2021 14:35

@Mummy2boys1520 it's the carers element and it's like £163 a month with your universal credit x

Mummy2boys1520 · 03/09/2021 14:47

@Alk19 oh really I didn't know that as they told me it just gets took I'll have to look into that then

Alk19 · 03/09/2021 14:55

@Mummy2boys1520
Yeah they dont tend to mention it if you don't know about it carers allowance is separate from uc were as the carers element is included on universal credit you have do the change of circumstances in the caring section on your journal x

Mummy2boys1520 · 03/09/2021 14:57

@Alk19 will this effect any of my other stuff tho because I receive pip myself

Ems1991 · 03/09/2021 15:10

@Mummy2boys1520 I just asked them if it will be backdated once I have been awarded dla and this was uc response x

Mummy2boys1520 · 03/09/2021 15:14

@Ems1991 thank you for that well they are telling me it's with the decision maker now to weather I'll get it back dated so if they say no I'll use that

Ems1991 · 03/09/2021 15:15

@Mummy2boys1520 in scotland we get careers supplement and it pays you national insurance In scotland anyway its worth it x

Ems1991 · 03/09/2021 15:17

I hope the just backdate for you hopefully because I have ask before my decision be awarded I won't have to much trouble if I. Awarded x @Mummy2boys1520

Ems1991 · 03/09/2021 15:18

They **

Mummy2boys1520 · 03/09/2021 15:18

@Ems1991 I wasn't even aware you had to ask it to be backdated I thought they just did it just like when you get awarded. But apparently anything with universal credit you have to ask it to be back dated x
