I had 2 people tell me different time scale one said 8 to 10 weeks one said 8 to 12 lol. Maybe different offices are working at different paces. Its frustrating when you've been waiting 8 weeks and not even had a text or letter be better if they gave weekly or fortnightly updates or even let you know when it passes hands even

mum1213 · 01/09/2021 16:55

Honestly i’ve been waiting a few days off 14 weeks for this renewal and it ends in 8 days and i’ve been told 8,10,12 weeks they are making it up in my opinion. I’ve literally no idea if this claim will
run out now

Lraf1234 · 01/09/2021 17:26

They scanned the claim on 1st July x

Mumof5babies · 01/09/2021 17:45

Maybe they'll sort it out just before it runs out. Hopefully it will flag up as due. I honestly don't know why it takes so long. I had to help my mum with a universal credit claim and i thought they were bad taking 5 weeks

Edsgirl · 01/09/2021 17:47

Just got Evans diagnosis today, confirmed he's under the spectrum, should I call dla or wait on the paper evidence 1st.x

MyDcAreMarvel · 01/09/2021 19:38

@Edsgirl wait , a diagnosis isn’t relevant for dla.

Mumof5babies · 01/09/2021 19:53

I rang them up told them the date of diagnosis they added it on then i sent it through special delivery when they came with a return special delivery envelope with my address on so i get them back

Mumof5babies · 01/09/2021 19:54

@MyDcAreMarvel no diagnosis needed to claim no

Edsgirl · 01/09/2021 19:56

@MyDcAreMarvel, thought as much, thanks, hate phoning that place, the waits stressful, 7weeks today. X

Nmhx · 01/09/2021 19:57

What’s the address to send evidence?

Nmhx · 01/09/2021 20:32

@Ems1991 thank you

Lap871 · 01/09/2021 20:33

A diagnosis isn’t needed for a claim, but a diagnosis can alter the length of the award. So probable ASD without diagnosis is usually awarded 2 years, but with diagnosis at least 2 years and up to either 12 or 16 years old. It’s worth updating dla for that reason

Ems1991 · 01/09/2021 20:45

@ @Nmhx no problem I hope you get it all sorted 🤞 @Lap871 I was told you don't need a diagnosis I was at the pediatrician today and there going to run genetic test and gave me some medication to help my daughter sleep but been referered for and autism assessment but been told to treat it like it is autism just now do I need to tell dla my 8 weeks is up on the 8th and don't want to delay it further?

Lap871 · 01/09/2021 20:53

@Ems1991 I would definitely send through the details of the medication and anything which changes the care needed for your daughter. It won’t delay it further (in my experience anyway). dla base their decision on what care is needed, so any evidence which supports the care needed is good to support your claim. It’s only the length of award which can be affected by the formal diagnosis.

Ems1991 · 01/09/2021 20:56

I'm waiting on my gp receiving the letter from my pediatrician before it given to me but how would I get proof would I have to ask gp for a letter or pediatrician I'm new to all this sorry any advice helps me x @Lap871

Lap871 · 01/09/2021 21:34

@Ems1991 you will normally get letters from the paediatrician or other professionals involved keeping you informed of what is sent to the GP and summarising their assessments. You can use copies of those letters as evidence.

Ems1991 · 01/09/2021 21:45

Right I think I will wait on the letters first and maybe phone my pediatrician and check there been sent then contact them when there ready to be sent listen thank so much you advice has definitely helped I'm clueless 😂x @Lap871

PeppaPigPocoyo · 02/09/2021 09:10

So called up again today as the 8 weeks was up today, and the lady I spoke to said it’s still with the case manager? She said they may written to one of the professionals involved and are waiting for a response. What’s the difference between a case manager and a decision maker?! I’m so confused!

Mumof5babies · 02/09/2021 09:25

I think its the same person your case gets passed to someone they look at it gather what they can and then make a decision. Sometimes they need to speak to schools and doctors hoping thats not the case with me as I've sent all reports in 🤞. Annoying really because they could take weeks to get back to them via letter

PeppaPigPocoyo · 02/09/2021 09:30

Well I put down my daughters gp (who hasn’t seen her) and I put down her Paed who has seen her, and included a very recent paed report which detailed her in clinic observation of my daughter and listed SALT referral, Autism assessment referral, and SEND team help to get her to start nursery. But that’s the only evidence I had at the time. I’m expecting our first SALT assessment report to come so I guess I keep a hold of that incase I need to apply for a reconsideration. To be honest I find it near on impossible to get hold of my daughters Paed by phone so I’m really not expecting for her to reply to them anytime soon. I just hope they wrote to her a month ago or something 😬

Ems1991 · 02/09/2021 09:46

I just phoned there to report some changes and I was told that there now dealing with claims from the 3rd of July and that my claim received on 14th would be another 2-3 weeks It may not be that they have to check with doctors and things @it may be there behind a little and working on several claims at a time🙂 @PeppaPigPocoyo
