I feel so deflated, I am from 28nd June and the lady was lovely but said it’s still in a holding que for a decision maker 😢 so hard when you’ve had to be off work ‘sick’ for the last few months due to reduced timetables at school and even summer club 1-1 having to send him home 😞

Nmhx · 25/08/2021 19:51

@Sadieosull sorry to hear it’s taking so long for you to hear back. Another user from 28th June was given a decision today. Hopefully your forms will be picked up this week and a decision given soon x

10brokengreenbottles · 25/08/2021 22:09

Sadie why is DS on a reduced timetable? Unless short term aimed at reintegration they are illegal, whether or not you agree to it. It sounds like the school are illegally excluding DS, don't allow them to.

If DS is able to attend full time and it is the school insisting on part time, tell the school DS will be attending full time and you will only be picking him up if you are given formal exclusion paperwork. Forcing the school to be accountable, not allowing them to send DS home just because it is the easy option for them and making them provide paperwork if they are excluding will give you evidence to prove DS needs more support.

If DS can not attend full time e.g. due to anxiety the LA have a statutory duty to provide education.

Does DS have an EHCP?

Have you had social care assessments - from the disabled children's team for DS and a carer's assessment for you?

Also, have you applied to Family Fund?

Midlandsmum23 · 26/08/2021 10:04

The DWP received my son's DLA form on 2nd July so the 8 weeks is up tomorrow. I received a letter from them this morning saying that they're sorry they haven't made a decision yet, but they're working on it.

Lhmym · 26/08/2021 10:17

@Midlandsmum23 I got same later then the following week if that got desision I would give them a ring either later today or tomorrow see what’s happening

PeppaPigPocoyo · 26/08/2021 10:24

Is it a good sign if we are waiting the full 8 weeks for a decision? It’s seems as though everyone on this thread had their claim excepted. If the decision was a no would we have been told sooner?

Ems1991 · 26/08/2021 11:03

My daughters claim was sent on the 14 July I was told last week to call back on the 8th Sept but was told they won't look at it until then so I'm not entirely sure if the longer you wait the more chance of it been accepted going on what I was told they have a backlog ...everything seems to have waiting time I'm grateful for all help given but exhausted with having to fight for everything I just hope it gets approved first time 🤞

Edsgirl · 26/08/2021 12:36

Just recieved a letter from dla telling me they are looking at my claim for my son, no decision yet, 13/7/ they scanned it on to the system. X

Edsgirl · 26/08/2021 12:47

Midlandsmum22, sound like the letter I got this morning, hopefully not much waiting now. X
