Who would like a Moondog Masterclass?

Moondog has been chatting on this thread and has said that she'd be willing to hold a session if enough people wanted to come.

To make it worth her while (in preparing for the session, travel, etc.) she'd need 15 to sign up. She's not advertising, by the way, I've asked her if she'd do one if there were enough of us. Smile

Sooo if there were around 15 people interested who could all get to within striking distance of Moondog/each other, it could be fantastic.

Any ideas for subject gladly welcomed - I know a few of you have been to Moondog stuff so we could avoid repetition.

I'd love to understand the basics on task break down/direct instruction, etc., but I'm probably quite a bit behind some of you ABAers, so I'm willing to go with the majority if it gets a session off the ground.

I have pmed Toni.
Lougle, will get the list to you of topics we feel competent to tackle by the end of this week so would you be able to put these into a poll form for people to comment on? In this way, we should be able to run a double strand masterclass depending on knowledge/competence in ABA based strategies.

Fab - June 14th in diary and await directions!

lougle · 05/03/2014 22:40

Thanks Moondog, that's great.

As soon as Moondog has the list I'll set up a new poll for subject choices.

It will be such a useful event for us all.

Please add me to the attendee list as well?

I haven't been on here for a while juggling work, kids, school issue, send reforms etc... But I'm coming wherever it takes place and 14 June is in my diary!

Far, far, far, farrrr too late zzzzz Wink

No, seriously, the topics haven't even been considered, let alone decided. Grin

Moondog is going to come up with a list of topics that she and her colleague can offer, then we'll run a poll to narrow down what people are interested in.

I so hope you can come (with or without your 'weird prejudices' - we won't even charge extra for them).

How about finding a cheap nearby campsite so we can make a weekend break out of it with our families!?

bochead · 07/03/2014 12:58

does that mean we bring the kids to the workshop?

StarlightMcKingsThree · 07/03/2014 13:07

Hmm, I guess we arrange a commune of care!?

lougle · 07/03/2014 13:23

What about Wellington Park. It isn't the cheapest ever but you get the park to yourself after 6pm and have free range on all their different Adventure Playgrounds, as well as being allowed bikes and scooters then. They also have barbeques by the lake that you can use in the evening for parties.

20-21 June is still at medium rate prices and it's the longest day so you have a long evening of light to use the facilities!?

My lovely colleague is a super advanced camper.
I recall her going off ALONE to camp with three kids under 4.
Seriously impressive.

lougle · 07/03/2014 19:59

I shudder when I recall the time we took DD1 & 2 camping to a church event. DD1 was about 2 years 8 months and DD2 was 12 months. It was the wettest August for years.

DD1 was an escape artist with no sense of danger. DD2 was crawling. DD1 woke reliably at 5am each morning.

So we were in a field, 5am and DD1 was climbing the walls from about 5.15am. Off we go, trudging through the field for a walk. DD1 on Daddy's shoulders, but she discovered she could kick her welly boot off. Over and over again.

Then, one lunchtime, I lost her. I searched high and low, starting to panic. Until I went into a caravan and found one poor family in our church eating their food with plates on their laps, because DD1 was dancing on their table Shock

I love the idea of a camping weekend! DH is just finishing his studying involving every third weekend at university and I have great plans for lots of weekend camping trips. I think zzzzz is right though, mixing it with the master class might be tricky.

youarewinning · 07/03/2014 20:57

I love the idea of camping DS may need convincing! also looked at Wellington park after star suggested it elsewhere on the boards and it looks great.

bochead · 07/03/2014 21:29

have lovely soft whippet that rounds up toddlers - will that aid the camping plans?

(Can also bring a bottle of wine Wink)

We'd deffo be up for a Mumsnet camp - I'll even bring my carrot to wave at any keynote speakers

moondog · 07/03/2014 22:02

Not the carrot!!

I still look at that from time to time for a laugh!
Good on Peter for being game enough to pose with it!

bochead · 07/03/2014 22:24

I wouldn't mind but now I'm home edding the carrot shedding is proving harder to do than you'd assume Wink

Have seen an advert from a breeder of police dog pups - sorely tempted (I don't want to hurt anyone just intimidate the carrot army into leaving me the fook alone!)

I think it's the downside to being the only gays in the village lol! (Well uber tanned anyway - I can't even pronounce the name of the street where we are buying our house).

Well given that DS's current special interest at the moment is:-

...... life forms at the bottom of volcanos and whether they could possibly prove the existence of life in other parts of the solar system ......

I think he'll get rid of the lady coming to see if he's getting an appropriate education on Monday away fairly fast. My eyes glaze over that's for sure.
