Sickening, what else can I do?

Over the weekend I became aware of a You Tube clip doing the rounds that for me is heartbreaking, frightening and has reinforced my determination to homeschool dd from y7.

Posted is a clip of three boys goading an ASD boy to meltdown, what makes it so horrifying to me is that it is taking place inside our catchment school (supposedly a very good school).

I have contacted the school and the governing body, had an acknowledgement telling me there is a meeting tomorrow and HT will contact me personally (led them to believe dd was a prospective statemented ASD pupil)

I've emailed the Inclusion Officer at the LEA and copied it up the chain of command.

I've flagged the clips on You Tube and left the school's contact details as a comment for others equally sickened to complain to the school (I've refrained from responding to the ignorant twats who think it's funny) It's had 35,000 hits Sad

Is there anything else I can do? I'd have liked to offer my support to the child's parents but don't know how to contact them.

Got an email this morning inviting me to meet with him and see the school and discuss my email. Will be doing that after half term as ds breaks up today. Also had an email from the LEA who were seemingly oblivious until my emails and they will be contacting the school today and have passed it on to the advisory service. Also contacted OFSTED pointing out a lack of safeguarding and suggesting they should be looking into this so that will be interesting if they take it up.Elder dd will try and get a message to the boys parents because we have no direct means of contact it's more that dd is friends with someone who is friends of the victim's brother.
I get the impression that now the HT realises that the shit has really hit the fan.

Is the mum of the child with ASD aware of these videos?

My ds is on the spectrum and I am rather apprehensive about the step from a small inclusive MS pimary to a HUGE secondary, in a city with a lot of problems.

I'm not going to watch the video for 2 reasons A) I will cry and DS is about, and B) I don't want to add to the "hits" rating. I have seen children do similar to my DS and it is heartbreaking. Sad

insanityscratching · 18/10/2012 15:49

Yes she's aware, I've found her on Facebook, she has alerted the police and CEOPS. I hope the little shits who did this and those who uploaded the video onto You Tube get what's coming to them. Some of the comments below make me want to weep too.

Having read the response regarding needing lots of flags on youtube to get the removed, I have tracked down, reported, red flagged and disliked every single version.

As bored said, I didn't want to do that intially, as I didn't want to add to the hit rating, but if that's what we need to do to get it removed then so be it.

This is really upsetting. Ds1 is a corridor monitor at his primary school and is already having a smaller version of this problem. It was one of the things he cried about last night when in total distress at how bad school is at the moment. He desperately wanted the job and he is so keen to be responsible, do the job and do it well, but is getting distressed at the deliberately goading behaviour, not to mention language, of some of the children who are determined to wind him up - and this is at what some would think of as a naice surburban primary in a 'good area'. It can happen anywhere and it needs challenging.

Insanity you have done a great thing by raising awareness of this and bringing it to the attention of all the authorities you can.

Let us know what else we can do to help. I am a tied up this evening with extra school runs and three parent's evening appointments, but will be back.

You see, Jimmy Carr, Ricky Gervais and Frankie Boyle et al make it "funny" and acceptable to laugh at special needs kids/adults jokes.

Not so funny now though, is it?

I've had a reply too, from the school having emailed them to give my views.

insanityscratching · 18/10/2012 17:33

Yes the "comedians" see fit to ridicule and did you see the comment on This Morning when they were discussing the Gary McKinnon issue? The bloke reviewing the papers said that in Parliament MP's were questioning whether AS was a disability and whether GM was "making it up" Hmm
Whilst ever ASD is seen as an easy target and until Joe Public are educated on hidden disability I fear that there will always be incidents like the one on You Tube and our children will always be at risk.

I don't watch This Morning. Who was it that made the comment about the MP's? One of the presenters?

insanityscratching · 18/10/2012 18:30

No it was someone reviewing the papers I didn't recognise him but he has a child on the spectrum Phillip and Holly were disgusted to their credit.

www.youtube.com/t/terms YouTube T&Cs concerned about copyright - - not even lip service to preventing racism, bullying etc - mind you suppose no point pretending that they are trying to be nice. All that google (their owner) can manage for an aspiration is to try not to "be evil"

WTF is wrong with people? How the hell can anyone take any pleasure in bullying someone like this, especially someone with autism? Utter bastards. I've reported the videos to YT.It seems that one version has already been removed, but why Youtube is so reluctant to remove the others is beyond me.

I hate to add to their hits, but reporting it is about the only way to have it removed.
