Thanks to Thumbwitch for inspiring the title of this new thread. Smile

I will do my very best to minimise my worrying about the future as none of us know what it holds. For now, it's all about celebrating Beatrice's life today, every day.

As always, please feel free to follow us on our journey, and thank you in advance for the wonderful advice I am bound to receive from fellow parents, of SN children or otherwise.

Here's to a positive, uneventful thread!

Oh cup, is there someone you can call for advice? Or just for support? Crossing all fingers they calm down for little Bea x

Could it potentially be the infection causing them as bea uses her strength to fight that off and so is a bit weaker (sorry if i'm talking rubbish!) Sending lots of love xx

BB3 · 03/03/2012 20:19

And Bea, I second fabwoman, give her a kick or three from us! She clearly missed the class in people skills and patient care at medical school! Having said that, I'm glad you feel like you're reaching an understanding with her cup, hope she has seen enough of Beatrice to know just what a little fighter she is dealing with!

BB3 You are spot on. She has apneas when she is brewing an infection. It's like her body goes into deep hibernation and her brain forgets to breathe.

I've asked for the door and all blinds to be left open so the nurses can see in at all times. When she has an apnea I shake her stimulate her and it starts her breathing again. When we nearly lost her at the end of January, stimulation didn't work and she ended up on 15 litres of oxygen. She's currently on 0.4 but breathing steadily. Please, please keep everything crossed for her.
