Thanks to Thumbwitch for inspiring the title of this new thread. Smile

I will do my very best to minimise my worrying about the future as none of us know what it holds. For now, it's all about celebrating Beatrice's life today, every day.

As always, please feel free to follow us on our journey, and thank you in advance for the wonderful advice I am bound to receive from fellow parents, of SN children or otherwise.

Here's to a positive, uneventful thread!

So wonderful that through it all Bea is sharing her happiness with you through her smiles - that must be so reassuring for you cup . Hugs to you all xx.

LittlePebble · 01/03/2012 05:53

Hi cup just found you again! Big squeeze to beautiful Bea and the teaset xx

CestTout · 01/03/2012 07:26

Lovely update, she has a gorgeous smile. Hoping today goes well for you

TCOB · 01/03/2012 19:33

Cup thinking of you and wondering how today went (along with the rest of our fan club). Once you've had a nice Brew and the teaset are in bed, let us know what today brought.

TCOB · 01/03/2012 19:34

'our' fan club?? Don't think I've got one - meant YOUR fan club of course (walks off muttering 'stupid woman' in embarrassment...).

MessNessPess · 01/03/2012 20:41

:o to Bea smiles.

Carrotcakeisace · 01/03/2012 21:07

Thinking of you all today and :o to regular smiles

BB3 · 02/03/2012 16:35

Hey Cup, just popping in to see how yesterday went, was thinking of you all.

Hope Bea's sickness is calming down slightly and that she is continuing to be free with her smiles Grin. How did you stop yourself changing her nappy every 5 minutes just to see her grin Wink.

saffronwblue · 02/03/2012 21:56

Hi Cup
hope all went well for you and the Smiler yesterday.

GalaxyAddict · 03/03/2012 00:18

Hi Cup, I have never written on any of your threads before, but always follow your updates. I saw that Nappy had written to you about meeting up in a park next time you are in Oxford. I am also in Oxford, so if you did not mind maybe I could meet you. Another thing, if you ever need anything when you are in Oxford, please PM me, even if you just fancy a sandwich being brought to you.
I have just got out of the Children's Hospital today with my DD, nothing serious, just DD had a viral thing & may have had to have a feeding tube. I was terrified, fortunately she stayed in 2 nights & did not have a feeding tube. I thought about you & Bee a lot while in hospital and how my few nights in hospital are a regular thing to you. I totally freaked out by DD having to be admitted, I just kept thinking that Bee has had to spend so many nights in hospital & had so many tubes, I need to get a grip!
I am under the adult gastro team at Oxford, not sure if they are the same team for babies, but they are amazing, so I hope they help Bee.

cupofteaplease · 03/03/2012 07:56

I'm on my mobile so I'll probably be brief (that'd be a first...)

So, there was a lot of opinion from various hospitals and professionals and in the end, it was decided that Beatrice could have an NJ tube, and after a more fuss and bother, they finally found a nurse who was willing to have a go at passing one! Unfortunately, after checking its position on the Xray it showed it hadn't passed correctly, but on the third attempt and trip to Xray, they were happy to let her feed! She's still been sick twice, but it's stomach juices rather than milk.

Unfortunately she had a very unsettled night, and it looks like she's got some kind of infection. Let's hope today isn't too uncomfortable for her. Sad

The meeting with the neurologist was emotional, but I will write about that another time when I have my laptop as I want to document it properly.

Dr Doom also asked if we were happy for her to.continue as Beatrice's consultant, because if we wanted someone else, 'It's no skin off her nose'... Shock What a woman! But I told her, politely of course, that she wasn't getting off that lightly Wink I think we have come to an understanding of sorts.

As for meeting up in Oxford, we could make it a casual meet and if anyone can come it'd be great to meet some other MNers! The only place I ventured to last time was the Cowley Road. Any good meeting places there or nearby? We are in Oxford 3pm 12th March until 11am 15th March.

Good news about the tube, less good about the possible infection .
I do enjoy reading updates about your little trooper.
Enjoy is the wrong word, but I hope you understand what I mean.

annalovesmrbates · 03/03/2012 08:33

Thank you for updating and another hug for you and Bea.

annalovesmrbates · 03/03/2012 08:33

Prayers for the Smiling Bea to recover from any infection and to settle down well with the tube.

Enjoy your weekend with MrCup and the Teaset.

cupofteaplease · 03/03/2012 19:26

Ooh, Beatrice keeps having apneas Sad I'm worried again. Sad

OP posts:
KateUnrulyBush · 03/03/2012 19:43

Sounds like Dr Doom has been taking too many of her own pills...

tooloudhere · 03/03/2012 19:48

I hope you have a peaceful night and things pick up tomorrow and the apneas settle.

x

youarekidding · 03/03/2012 19:57

cup What advice have you been given about the apneas? Do you have someone you can call to ask advice from? I hope she settles. Sad

JoannaLumpy · 03/03/2012 19:58

That must be such a worry cup (hug) What do you do to handle it ?
