Thanks to Thumbwitch for inspiring the title of this new thread. Smile

I will do my very best to minimise my worrying about the future as none of us know what it holds. For now, it's all about celebrating Beatrice's life today, every day.

As always, please feel free to follow us on our journey, and thank you in advance for the wonderful advice I am bound to receive from fellow parents, of SN children or otherwise.

Here's to a positive, uneventful thread!

many thanks

cupofteaplease · 14/04/2012 22:14

Thank you so much for the donations!

Norks Have you been naughty and donated twice?!

We are currently in hospital. Bea has had an unsettled few days and I suspected, correctly,, that her tube had migrated back into the stomach. They passed another one, but an Xray confirmed it had only gone into the tummy again. So, the consultant on call decided to give her fluids through an IV- most mums would be upset at this, but for me it's another milestone! They've never managed to get a cannula in before so her resuscitation plan says 'not for IV antibiotics'- well we can scrap that bit now! Grin

Also, they weighed her and she's 11lb 2oz- a 4oz gain in less than 24 hours Shock

Trumpton Of course I remember you and your beautiful hat- I've kept it for her memory box. Thanks for the offer to knit, I may come to you for mittens nearer the winter!

cupofteaplease · 16/04/2012 11:36

Right, Beatrice still hasn't had milk since Saturday night, poor girl. We are just at radiology now, waiting for them to pass her tube as they watch on screen. Fingers crossed it works...

SallyBear · 16/04/2012 11:39

That's crappy cup. Sad. Hope your wee girl gets her NJ tube sorted out soon. Have they given any thought about when they will do a gtube yet??

KateUnrulyBush · 16/04/2012 12:54

Keeping fingers crossed x

cupofteaplease · 16/04/2012 13:08

They couldn't do it Sad Got to wait until tomorrow when weighted tubes are delivered then we can try again. She was so upset, crying real tears. I had to tell the Dr I was uncomfortable with how much discomfort she was in, but she just brushed me off like a silly school girl.

Luckily a nurse from the children's ward was there and confirmed that Beatrice was indeed, distressed.

Cup. When we were in SCBU (5mos), parents were asked not to be at the cot side when there were procedures being done. It's bloody hard to listen too, and to repress that feeling of wanting to rip the doctor's head off their shoulders. Sad Poor Beatrice. ((hugs))

DottyDot · 16/04/2012 15:07

Sad Cup fingers crossed for tomorrow xxx

IDontWantToBeFatAnymore · 16/04/2012 15:18

ThisWeekonFancyPuffin · 16/04/2012 17:52

Hope tomorrow is better for you and Bea

Angry at stupid Doctor Arseface

mycatsaysach · 16/04/2012 19:03

another parent here who found it easier (slightly) to not be there at certain proceedures - if you get a non - listening doctor it is really the last thing you need

good luck for tomorrow

btw Smile my ex-scbu/GOSH/everywhere else baby has just completed her first day work experience

cupofteaplease · 16/04/2012 19:04

All change, we're not going for a weighted tube apparently. They've tried again this evening with no joy so they're hoping Oxford will take her tomorrow to have a g. If not, I don't know what the next step will be. I'm so fed up today, it's rubbish being in here all day on my own. Popped out to get something for tea and even the restaurant had nothing in as they were closing. It's not our day. Sad

OP posts:
SallyBear · 16/04/2012 19:15

Hopefully you will have Mr Hugh Grant (nothing like the more famous Hugh), but he is good. Just make sure that you find out when they will have her back in to switch it from the g-tube to the button.

I am over at the JR on Thursday myself for an appointment with DD as she broke her nose last week....!

Hope it goes well.

cupofteaplease · 16/04/2012 19:24

Good luck with your dd's nose! She doesn't have a g tube, they are trying to pass a naso-jejunal tube, it's the only way she can feed at the moment as she cannot tolerate food in her stomach.

Praying for peace and comfort for little Bea. Smile

slowlyburningcalories · 16/04/2012 22:30

Following as always with a mix of frustration on your behalf and admiration for Bea's determination.

I never left DD, the worse ever ever night was long after we left NICU and rushed back in at 3am after DD had just settled they tried to place a cannula, blood everywhere, no one could do it and I was expected to hold DD while they tried. Awful to watch your child in distress, I hope bonny Bea gets her milk soon.
