intothewest · 04/02/2011 21:47

licking batteries ? that's not good - hi again
puppet show was great and ds was even greater ! He sat down the front with the other kids and I didn't have to grab him once- I was sooo proud Grin

DameEdnaBeverage · 04/02/2011 21:47

Carrot - go to Pahndland for your batteries - 12 good brand AA or AAA for only a pahnd!

do you know what really bugs me, if I (when I worked) promised a report would be done by the end of october and still hadn't done it by the beginning of february, I'd have been sacked. Perfectly fine when the OT does it Hmm Having a child with sn isn't stressful for me, dealing with the f%$£& so called professionals is. Wine anyone Grin although not sharing my creme egg, it's all mmiiiinnnnneeeeeeee

OverflowingMum · 04/02/2011 21:52

oh dear carrot hope this too is a passing phase

can I ask you wiser folks how/when you explained to DC about thier special needs (if you have where appropriate)
yesterday DD3 (Aspergers) asked me "what problems do I have" after Ed Psych had been in to see her
She has 1:1 sessions 3X a week, and has had various assessments etc over last year or so...so knows something is going on.
She is 6, and so far we have told her along the lines that her thinking works slightly differently to other peoples
Also she is probably dyslexic, and struggles with reading/writing and re this we have told her that her brain "sees" words a bit differently...
but obviously as she gets older she will have more questions...not sure what to say.
I want to be honest, but desperately want to protect her self confidence/slef esteem etc...
any tips???

OverflowingMum · 04/02/2011 21:54

bigcar exactly! In my job I could NEVER get away with some of the stunts these people pull....shocking Shock

DameEdnaBeverage · 04/02/2011 21:57

Yes Bigcar and why do we have to keep 'phoning to chase everything that we are told will happen but never does. It's just shocking that they are never held accountable for anything.
Enjoy the Creme Egg Envy, I just have a couple of custard creams.

But dame.. I just don't want to buy any more :o
gawd I can't feed him on batteries he's already an non stop bunny!

Weirdly I am snobby about what brand of batteries my psb ( perfect second born) eats !

DameEdnaBeverage · 04/02/2011 22:00

Sorry Carrot - didn't realise you were a battery snob Smile. Don't let him eat too many - he'll get acid in his stomach.

Overflowing
ds already had his dyslexia dx.. Where we had already explained different wiring .. And upped the good side of it..
So when we got asd/As dx then we just explained it was like the dyslexia but instead of Reading and spelling, it was communication and social things.. And then upped the good bits again :)

Thecarrotcake · 04/02/2011 22:05

:o
yes well some people are fussy about their Tea or coffee or water or wine.. Me tis batteries < fnarrrr>

lisad123isasnuttyasaboxoffrogs · 04/02/2011 22:05

Can I tell you ladies a little secret?? Nothing major, but looks like we might be moving to the coast!! Just hope their LA is better than here!

DameEdnaBeverage · 04/02/2011 22:06

Ooh lisa that sounds great - my dream is to live in Dorset or Devon near the coast. You lucky thing!

OP posts:
bigcar · 04/02/2011 22:07

I can honestly say I've never licked a battery, what does he get from it?

the report the OT is supposed to be writing is a follow up to the sensory questionnaire we completed in august Hmm think it's time I give up on her and go over her head, this is getting stupid.

OverflowingMum · 04/02/2011 22:07

thanks bigcar similar to what we have been saying to DD...will take it one step at a time...
have been working on upping the good bits too.
now must switch off laptop and talk to DH before bed...

night all Grin

Thecarrotcake · 04/02/2011 22:08

Lisa wooooohoooo

bigcar · 04/02/2011 22:09

ooh lisa, that sounds lovely, I'd love to live by the coast, a nice bit of sussex would do me Smile

lisad123isasnuttyasaboxoffrogs · 04/02/2011 22:10

its Dorset Grin
panicing about the girls but we need to do it.
I used to lick batteries, just because the square ones give you a weird metal taste Confused
I havent heard from our OT in ageess

DJAngel · 04/02/2011 22:11

Back on here after shitty bedtime which lasted forever.. dd and ds in bath and me playing a game with shaving foam. DD decides to eat it..

Panic while we try to decide what to do.. have given lots of fluids and decided not to take her anywhere after checking internet and she's now asleep.. for now.

Impressed with all these laminating creative folk! I always wish I was the kind of mum who did loads of creative stuff with the dc but I'm just not really.. I can't possibly imagine having 6 kids OverflowingMum.. must feel totally overwhelming at times! 2 is hard enough for me! I think that guilt is one of the worst bits of motherhood isn't it.. I wish I could shake it off sometimes..very hard.

Moosemama, really sorry to hear you're so poorly - hope you're feeling much better tomorrow.. and well done for sticking with what sounds like a hellish diet and losing some weight.. I keep meaning to do something about my weight but can't face it. I need to overeat to get through my knackered days!!

Anyway, must go and get a cuppa and a chocolate digestive or two.. then bed.

Night night all..

superfantastic · 04/02/2011 22:11

Lisa Envy Id love to live by the coast too.

lisad123isasnuttyasaboxoffrogs · 04/02/2011 22:12

Im fed up with living in this place, in this tiny house, dealing with the chavs that live here and I need to think about the girls, they love the outside but theres not much space here and we live on a main road

Thecarrotcake · 04/02/2011 22:12

Night overflowing
Bigcar seriously put a square battery on your Tongue .. Or a normal one and touch the other end with a wet finger...

Yes I have tried it... I wanted to know why :)

bigcar · 04/02/2011 22:14

carrot, I'll put it on my to do list for tomorrow, too knackered to move right now Grin

lisad123isasnuttyasaboxoffrogs · 04/02/2011 22:14
